Very useful video, as always. Thanks Stuart. I bought my Oxford stand today and was rather peturbed when I read 'It is a two man operation to raise and lower the motorcycle' in the instructions. Clearly that isn't the case but the piece of wood I guess is and is not supplied Ha ha!!

When I bought my Bonneville Speedmaster I went for Triumph's bobbins (part number A9640082). They work fine with the Oxford paddock stand reviewed here.

I just bought a 2005 bonneville carb version. I just ordered a pair of spools, but now I'm not even sure my bike has 8mm holes for them. So disappointed Triumph didn't think center stand s on a street bike were important. Thanks

Just bought one of these. I've got the cheap ally ebay jobs but this is a whole different world. Heavy in comparison but by far more stable. Definitely worth the extra £5 and extra weight.

Nice one Stuart yer I bought a cheep one and it folded as I was lifting my bike luckily I had a grip of the bike as I lifted it and I took it back and they then replaced it with a better one at no extra cost hope you get your voice back happy Easter mate stay safe kind regards Phil

Hi, I've got the new speedmaster and I have ' tec bike' bobbins there on a central spindle that goes through your rear axle, works a treat.

Hi Tommy, yes I did have a look at those type of bobbins, but they are very limited in use. for example how do you adjust your chain with them or even remove the back wheel?

Just a note; Harley sells an oil drain pan that is low and long that easily fits under most bikes. I purchased one for my Triumph Thunderbird and it fits perfectly under the bike and holds over five quarts of oil. Additionally it seals up nicely and doesn’t leak like most budget pans/containers do, which makes transporting the used oil to the recycling place less of a headache. Here in the states it sells for about thirty dollars.

As to the bobbins - use the low profile ones with a spacer behind them to space them out the the proper width - will be a nice neat solution.

  •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

If there's such a thing as a "Triumph influencer" then that's you sir...
I kinda liked Triumph's but your love for them and the "British Gentleman Rider" (if that's a thing) that exudes from your videos is a sight to see and something that I deeply respect. I'd say that you alone has made more for me considering buying a Triumph and be a "Gentleman Rider" than any hipster promo from a major manufacturer.
Hope you feel better and please... Keep at it. 👍

I've got an old Weigl Telefix lift ,the old box shaped type that fit under the frame, the type I don't think they make anymore...
The Speedmaster is a heavy chap so would one of these Oxford lifts and a couple of Motone Frankenbobbins be a better option?

All your videos are very thorough. Thank you. I was having a close look at your rear spokes and they are very clean esp on the leading edge. Mine are corroded and the bike is less than 12 months out of the showroom. I wash it once a week. Have you heard of any others with this problem. The chrome is less than paper thin on mine.

Unfortunately this is a regular complaint on all the Bonnevilles Goatie. They require regular waxing or treatment with a maintenance fluid. Also avoid cheap cleaning detergents that contain salt!

Stuart I like your videos thanks ....having purchased a couple of triumph accessories the instructions refer to the service manual for operations associated with the accessories so my question is where can I get a service manual for 2019 speedmaster ? If triumph are not willing to help with a service manual why do they sell kits that refer to one?

I like this paddock stand much better than the Ryde stand. The Ryde stand looks like it needs only a very small forward movement of the bike to make it come off the stand. The Oxford stand might take more effort to get the bike on the stand but the end result is a safer product in my opinion.

A Spacer behind each bobbin and a couple of longer allen bolts should protrude the bobbins enough to clear the Swing arm and avoid scratches Stuart... however very poor design from Triumph and given the huge cost of New motorcycles these days it's shocking something like this has even got past the R&D stage before production. Like you say... it's a 'Get on with it' attitude that is simply unnacceptable.
