Thank you so much! I love making junk journals with just recycled materials. The challenge is so much more fun than store bought items lol. Hahaha yeh, I didn't realise only us Aussies call cash register receipts 'shopping dockets' when I did the video, until everyone on FB was commenting, so I had to change the video title lol. Sadly, I already have another pile of them built up that I need to use. I feel like they breed overnight! lol. 😂💚

Thanks Leigh! Originally I wrote 'shopping dockets' in the video description and only us Aussies knew what a shopping docket was, so I had to change it to 'cash register receipts' lol. Hahaha that's my craft mat when it's clean lol. Finally I bought a new one but still I keep using the old messy one lol 😂💚

This is a GREAT idea!
I saw someone glue receipts (that's what we call them in the US) and make long strips and used them as the base to make snippet rolls. So I started saving them. You can use the ones with advertisements on back for snippet rolls. And the blank ones for this. Woohoo! I love to use things we'd otherwise throw into the trash!!! Nice job!!! Thx for video.

I updated the title so the rest of the world knows what I am talking about lol. Oh I am glad you use your receipts aswell! They are small but if you collect them up you end up with quite a bit of paper. So handy to use in junk journals. I save those with the advertisements on the back aswell but hadn't though of using them for snippet rolls (probably because I am always so obsessed with using up book pages lol). 😄💚

I hope I didn't offend you. It wasn't meant to. I love that journalers on TH-cam are from all over the world. It's the BEST part of it all. I love to listen to words other parts of world use, things I wouldn't know otherwise.
I've never traveled much out of the US. But THIS experience, getting to know people from other countries, is so enriching!!! I feel like I'm travelling thru countries I'd never get to know about otherwise. You are surely a part of that. So thank you, for giving of yourself to people from everywhere. And,...to me! Aww thank you so much Barbara! Haha no you didn't offend at all. A few people already mentioned on FB that they didn't know what a shopping docket was so I thought I better update the title lol. We use so many abbreviations and slang in Australia that sometimes it becomes the norm and we forget that no one else knows what we are talking about lol. The funniest one ever was when I was talking to my friend in Idaho USA, and I kept saying "this arvo". Aussies tend to run words together, so it sounds like "thsarvo". He couldn't catch what I was saying on the phone, and I was trying to say it clearer and slower for him...."THIS ARVO", "THIS ARVO"..... Finally I get that not only didn't he understand "thsarvo", but he didn't know what "arvo" was. Oh! It's short for "afternoon" I tell him lol. Arvo is short for afternoon. So thsarvo is short for this afternoon hahaha. We still laugh about that word, plus many others LOL 😂😂

Thank you Hilda! Welcome to my channel! I'm a recycle only crafter so I don't purchase any new supplies other than paint, glue and ink. I collect day to day junk to use when making journals and now and then I am lucky enough to find some goodies in a second hand charity shop or recycle centre. I love the challenge of making something from nothing, and I hope I can give you some ideas. Hehe glad that you will also save your cash register receipts. They build up so fast! I already have another little box full since this video lol. 😂💚🦋

Great idea! Really love how they turned out. Have to comment on the video call and being trapped -- I know the feeling! Because it's the only place his cell phone works in the house, my husband's desk is in the wide hallway area that stands between my computer area and the kitchen, which means it's between me and the rest of the house! I can get to the bathroom when he's on a call, thankfully, but that's it. His 3x per week early morning calls mean I spend a lot of mornings watching craft videos on you tube, and since he's why I'm trapped, he can't complain. Just thought you'd enjoy knowing that there are some benefits to having your husband's zoom call trap you. :)

I probably should make sure I am showered and dressed so that it doesn't matter if I walk past the camera lol. Me too! Lol. I resisted for the longest time but then my husband saw a butterfly set at Aldi one day and bought it for me. Took me a few years to actually use them but as a recycler, it can be hard to make junk look more appealing sometimes without things to 'pretty' them up lol. I still only have a few stamps which is why you'll see the same mushroom and butterfly stamps used over and over lol. I was lucky enough to be sent a few in happy mails too. And they come in handy to stamp those tiny scraps of paper that most people probably just throw away but I feel the need to use them lol 😄💚

I can't put them in the oven because I really hate the smell of coffee lol. 😄💚

Yes, we have had IGA for years here in NSW, but I think Woolworths has been slowly trying to buy them up one by one! I like their dockets because they don't have all the printing on the back so they are great for crafting lol 😄💚

love these! I'm wondering how you get the different textures (like wood grain or honeycomb) on your coffee-stained paper.
Thank you so much! Those patterns are just stencils. I mentioned briefly at 28:07. I just put the stencil on the paper and brushed over it lightly with some Vintage Photo Ink. I really love the woodgrain and honeycomb stencils too 🙂💚
In the US, they fade over time. So if it's a receipt you actually need to keep, you need to photocopy it.
We have the same here too. Some receipts are thermal paper and fade quite fast. Actually, I have a whole roll of thermal paper from an old fax machine that I need to do something with lol. I'll see what I can come up with 😀💚🤎
I microwaved one by accident and it turned competely black.
It was on the top of a food carton I popped in the microondo. I'm guessing the steam melted the ink and the heat set it before it could disappear.
haha that's so cool! I've seen videos of people using their heat guns on the receipts to turn them black, but they go back to white once the receipt cools down. You must have found the secret ingredient in keeping them black - microwave! lol. The black ones would be great to doodle on with a white paint pen! 😄💚
They're heat sensitive, that's how they print, not ink.
I truly wonder what these are made of.
Now I know what to do if I'm looking for this effect!
