30 years have passed since this happened so Steven is 39, Eric is 40, and Joey is 32 now. Steven’s brother Thomas is 41 my age now. This happened three days after my brother Andrew’s ninth birthday. We hear this happened on a Friday. I’m sure Steven can never say “Thank you” enough to Joey for what he did to help him. At the time this happened, it had been four months since my family and I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina from Fountain Hills, Arizona. Eric, Steven, and Jeremy should’ve known better than to play near those train tracks.
It's been 28 years and 5 months since this happened so Steven is 37, Joey is 30, and Eric is 38 now. I'm sure Steven said "Thank you" to Joey and can never thank him enough for what he did. This year Stephen will be turning 38, Eric will be turning 39, and Joey will be turning 31.

How does a kid go three days without food or water? After the cop awarded Joey that little police badge, hopefully he grew up, did the _RIGHT_ thing - and became a firefighter or a paramedic.
You would be amazed at how long a human can go without food for and survive. If someone is healthy and eating and drinking like normal they can survive for quite awhile if they are suddenly cut off from food and water even kids. Your body will eventually start eating it's own muscle and pulling water from your body but anyone can live for 3 days without food or water. You won't feel great and it won't be a pleasant 3 days but definitely not fatal for most people.

This is why you shouldn't play on train tracks and the train because you can get struck or killed by the train or be like these kids get stuck into the train so be aware of your surroundings especially when you think that trains are cool they might be cool but they can hurt and kill people.

When I found out that Steven had fallen into the train, I was pretty frightened, because he couldn’t come out, and his mother was pretty worried about wondering where he was.

That's actually not a boxcar, it's a closed Hopper car used to carry grain and other things and it protects them from the weather

What if the train took off while the old lady was still on the phone to 911? It would have gotten much more terrifying for all concerned.
911 can reach out to the railroad who then notifies the train dispatcher that will have the train stopped.
That scenario is a good reason to write down the reporting marks on the railcar.
