HERE WE GO! In this episode I've made my way back to Broome and we're heading out for a weekend mission to James Price Point! Nav's headed back to Kununurra so I've met up with my mate Beau and a couple other travellers for this adventure! After an epic night's camp on the cliffs we head off in search of an epic swimming hole before discovering a bogged vehicle. With the tide coming in quick we have a red hot crack at getting them unstuck! But in true explore fashion it doesn't go to plan...

There's always a manual shift out of park button. Usually near the shifter, sometimes under a little plastic cover.

With autos, usually there is a little button above the gear stick that you push in, then you should be able to put it in what ever gear

Autos usually have a little plastic cover near the shifter.
Pop that and press the button. Let’s you get it out of gear.

Always carry a portable tree or ground anchor I find my exhaust bull bag handy too

Next time dude, there is a shift lock button on all autos. Just need to push it down and it will get the auto outta park, some may need a screw driver to push in but they all have it.
Also, some vehicles you can use the hidden valet key in the fob if they have it & you don't have a screwdriver 👍

Yep, you can always take the cover off the gear shift and move a lever, but if the electrics are dead, the steering lock stays locked - as I found out a few years ago with a fritzed steering lock (died on its own accord, not in water).
Drone work is fabulous.

Hey Matt, you should always keep a camera rolling, you never know when you will stumble across a moment that you wish you were filming. A few weeks back myself and a few mates were up in Sandy Cape and Lancelin, when I got home I decided to download my dashcam footage and I managed to piece together a few clips of cruising through the scrub then the Lancelin sound dunes, yes the quality was pretty bad but it was great to look at the fun we had... Looking forward to the next episode mate, cheers

Always worth a try
There will be an emergency release that puts the box into neutral for towing if it is disabled. Need to read the manual to find out where it is. Anyone with an auto in the bush needs to know where it is on their car. There will be a release for the electric park brake as well if it had one of those.
@supreme wizard in my Discovery they are both under the cup holders in the console. You will usually find then hidden in the centre console, under the cover around the selector or the cup holders or some place close like that.
I thought only us west coast and northern lads got the red dirt.. I thought you guys only had clay and rocks.

Sample Thailand: has the unlock button as a must…. Go figger look in bangkok airport car park… cross parking behind the rows, must in unlock no handbrake applied, for the push forward reverse to get out the lot cheers..

the attempt was misguided, "walking the ground" would have told you not to try it and it could have been worse
what i learnt in my travels is you can't trust visual inspection of surfaces, there were several warning signs flashing in that "incident"
