hey, i recently bought an akai apc40 mark ii and a behringer fcb1010, i would love to talk to you about setting it up for live looping, and im curious how you recorded your drums wth that setup
I made a video on how I used that setup a while back! th-cam.com/video/1j4IibXBbhM/w-d-xo.html Maybe that’ll answer some of your questions! I basically mapped one of the foot switches on the Behringer controller to the session record button in Ableton. Then, I had a footswitch plugged into the Footswitch 2 port on the APC40 to launch scenes when I punched in for the drums.
@@DougHanson i saw the video but i still have a few questions. did you have the behringer controller plugged in with a midi cable to your interface? whenever you recorded your drums, were you able to set it up so that it waited to start recording until a bar after you pressed it? so you could essentially punch in right before you wanted it to record? and was there a way for you to stop it automatically so you could play all the way through?
@@demezzerate6769 Yes I had it plugged into the interface with a midi cable. And yes it was set up to start looping on the downbeat of the next measure. To punch out I pressed the footswitch in the measure before I want it to stop recording and then it punches out on the downbeat.
@@DougHanson sorry if im bothering you too much lol BUT, i have a keyboard sustain pedal, the fcb1010 and the apc40. i can figure out how to loop the guitar & bass and single input instruments, but im still trying to figure out how you got your drums to record. if you’re ever down to hop on a skype/discord/zoom call, let me know! my email is jamesisspencer@yahoo.com and i would love to talk to you more about getting my setup to record the drums if you ever have the freetime
i’ve been getting into looping myself recently. i just started to learn it within the last couple months. if you have time i have a few questions! i notice you turn off or unplug the push 2 when you record actual drums. why is that? how do you put actual drums into the loop?
I turn the Push into user mode so I can custom map things in Ableton. I have a footswitch connected to the Push by my drums that’s mapped to the session record button in Ableton. Hope that answers your question!
@@DougHanson yes! that makes perfect sense! just an idea, you possibly don’t even need to change the mode of the push. i think that you can get just any sort of usb or midi switch and map it in ableton to record it
Best one yet for sure, love the 3/4 over 6/8 feel
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the track!
It's when your bandmates can't attend to the gigs, but show must go on.. Btw, good job, dudes. Nice song hehe

So the microphone picks up the glockenspiel and the shaker and loops it automatically? What happens if you sneeze?
it will pick that up as well
Live looping sneeze.
