I combined the pony song with some of the instrumental from the original song, "California Girls" by Katy Perry.

I remember watching this on the Hub and not knowing ANY Katy Perry songs so I thought this was completely original (I was raised under a rock, but at least Maud Pie would appreciate me for that)
So this is where Hasbro go the idea for the Equestria Girls movies.
Actually there's an official version of this that hasbro themselves made if I remember correctly they got the idea from fan-made art of human versions of the main six

there was this really sketchy mlp site i used to go on all the time and you could dress the equestria girls up and this song would always play on the site. i can't believe after all these years i finally get to hear it again. i still mess up the california girls lyrics because of this

this fucking came out ten years ago, and I miss it so much omg.
Nobody would've imagined that Equestria Girls would become an official spin off series in 3 years from then.
I loved that they did it, it was great seeing humans in the MLP animation style, even if we had Littlest Pet Shop. They introduced characters exclusive to the spin off and they handled them as good as the actual show, The Dazzlings and Sunset Shimmer were the best ones.
I hated how they didn't bother to give the spin off a proper ending, they just ended it with a Christmas special. According to the tweet from one of the guys at Hasbro, they asked if they could give it a satisfying conclusion but the higher ups turned it down. It sucks @$$.
