The Z portion was eventually brought though and it was a huge hit. That eventually led to his Dragon Ball dub using mostly the same cast from the Funimation Z dub.
Lol they mentioned it in episode 1 in Dbz when bulma and krillin saw gohan had a tail and got all scared and said if he ever looked at the moon and then when vegeta turns ape, goku realizes that he killed gohan.

Yeah, they never told him. And is probably why kami ended up removing it later on.
