Jay Slater Search: "With Each Day A Happy Ending Becomes Less Likely" - Former Met Detective

  • Former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley discusses the ongoing investigation into Jay Slater's disappearance, emphasizing the importance of allowing the police to conduct their investigation without external interference.
He highlights the potential benefits of involving other law enforcement agencies, while also cautioning against unsubstantiated claims or speculation on social media. Bleksley stresses the need for the police to prioritize their investigation and avoid being swayed by external factors.
The search for a British teenager who went missing during a holiday in Tenerife has entered its second week.
Jay Slater, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared following an attempt to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus.
The apprentice bricklayer, 19, had attended the NRG music festival on the island with two friends before his disappearance and was last heard from on Monday last week.
The walk from Mr Slater’s last known location, Rural de Teno Park in the north of the island, to his accommodation would have taken about 11 hours on foot.
A fundraiser set up by the last person to speak to Mr Slater hit its target of £30,000 on Sunday.
The GoFundMe created by Lucy Law to “get Jay Slater home” had received £33,000 in donations by Monday morning.
A post on the page from Mr Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, confirmed the fundraiser was “approved by our family”.
The post, published on Sunday, said: “We have not yet withdrawn any funds and are currently covering the expenses, such as the trip to Tenerife and accommodation, ourselves.

As someone who has been to Masca (by accident btw) you wouldn’t believe how far off the beaten track Masca actually is and we were in a car.
We were simply trying to get back to our apartment complex in mihas. It was dark and we’d had a trip out somewhere and we got a little lost (before satnavs) and stopped and asked an old Spanish woman which way and she obviously either misunderstood or thought it would be funny but she directed us to a road and told us what signpost to look for.
Long story short we drove and drove and ended up going up some incredibly steep roads that went round like a figure of eight taking you further up this mountain and after a couple of hours of zero civilisation we came across a few buildings with a couple of guys stood on a bridge with lanterns.
They did not speak a word of English but suddenly people starting coming out of these like tiny shack like houses and they all had lanterns and were looking at us like they’d never seen a car before and were mesmerised by us.
They got one guy who spoke a little broken English and he tried to be of help and told us the twinkling lights down in the next valley was Masca but was telling us not to go there.
Honestly we were grateful for the help but also frightened as it was like a village lost in time and they did not have electricity hence the lanterns and it was really freaky and strange.
It’s been a joke in the family ever since and we referred to it as like the hidden villages in the Himalayas where “The Champions” (70’s tv show) were rescued by an unknown people after an airplane crash and they were healed and given special superhuman powers by them.
Granted this was 15 years ago however as it has also been reported there is no reason anyone would go there unless they were either from there or maybe an avid mountain climber/hiker or some geologist for example.
I was amazed that there was an air bnb/rental property there and I find it exceptionally strange that any youngster would stay there under any circumstances.
Highly suspicious but I hope he’s okay and wish him the best.

What is a happy ending? If it’s a scam, contrived to raise generous funding for the “search” and miraculously he is found? Will that result in a prosecution and a happy ending?
If he’s been taken against his will and again is miraculously found, that will be a happy ending.
What is however very confusing, a 19 year old, no food/water or phone coverage sets off along a mountain track, in what is reported to be the wrong direction, has unfortunately met with unknown consequences, yet despite the `Guardian Civil searching for many days have found no trace. In these circumstances, no-one in their right mind would wander off the beaten track into unknown scrubland and last but a few hours even if sanctuary is found in a hut. He would have been found.
There are many answers to which the questions have yet to be asked.
If he has met an untimely death by person or persons unknown, they have secreted his body very well indeed and that begs the million dollar question…….WHY?

2nd: Why was he only in the house for 60 to 90 minutes?
3rd: Why did her friend immediately call the emergency services?
4th: Why did she dial 911 and not 112?
5th: How did she know the place Jay Slater was?
6th: A boy who according to his Stepfather (by the way where is his father? was not able to walk 500 feet to the barbershop... why would he do a very long 11-hour walk under a scorching sun and without any logistical means?
7th: Why didn't he wait for the next bus?
    8th: Why didn't he hitchhike?
9th Why would he leave off the road?
10th: How did he mislead North and South?
11th: Why did he head for the uphill mountainous terrain when he himself knew that he was coming from low ground and was therefore moving away from his place of departure not towards it?
Maybe questions from 7th to 11th shows us a confused, disoriented mind that could not assess the situation for itself. Did he decide that morning he wanted to be the top walker on the island?
