This is the newest Doctor's theme from Doctor Who Series 5. Composer: Murray Gold. Conducted by Ben Foster. Recorded from the BBC Doctor Who Proms 2010.
I went to this prom on the Sunday morning with all the kiddlywinks :) one of the best concerts I've ever been to! love all the music from this series, thanks for putting this up.
listened to the whole concert on BBC Radio 3 last night. Brilliant!! Can't wait for it to be shown on BBC3 next month or the christmas special that they are working on!
This music just makes my heart, oh! I can't put the right words together!! Inspiring, full of the joy and love from the fans, BEAUTIFULLY and GENIOUSLY made!
My first Prom - and it was aMAzing! Ellis was FANTASTIC! "You can't giggle, one tiny giggle could blow up half of London-You are not giggling at all. You are GOOD." Let's hear it for Ellis, the Boy Who Beat the Autocue! XD
2:38, thats what i wanted. i remembered that bit, and i really wanted it to listen to, soo i spent hours searching, and voila, here it is. it was well worth it.
Murray Gold- BRILLIANT BRILLIANT COMPOSER! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Love that he's "slumming it" in tv (but if you have to "slum it" what BETTER show to be doing it on than Doctor Who- or Torchwood, for that matter) though I DO think his talents as a film-score composer shine far and above tv, right up with James Horner, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams... right to the top!
@BurlingtonNorthernRy its like a big ochestra thing where they play the backing music of the series. like this: the doctors tune. they have it every year in the royal albert hall london. they also do drama bits, like matt smith as the doctor picks out a child from the audience to help save london from the timebomb thing he's holding in this picture. hope this helped you.
I can't remember exactly what it's called, but the green thing is some type of bomb.He gets a child to help him deactivate it; the kid has to hold the really thin wire in his mouth - so thin it's invisible (It's not really there) and he has to stay completely still, and then The Doctor asks for his name, but he can't answer of course! He reassures the kid that he probably won't die, and then he successfully deactivates the bomb and congratulates the kid. You might find the video somewhere.
@annieg2010 It's because they haven't aired it on TV yet. Thankfully I have facebook and liked the Matt Smith page so I got dates of when It's aired! It will be aired on TV on the 6th of September at 6:30 PM for UK. I have nothing for the Americans yet.
Gaw.. I'm in the states so no chance to see this, anyone know where to find the whole show? If at all? Thanks for putting this up by the way, even if it's just a little bit. :D
All of you squealing about, it's very distracting so could you shut up for a minute because I AM TALKING. Now, the question of the hour is: who's the new Doctor? Answer: me! Next question: who's awesome. Come on! Look at me! Cool hair, bowties, a retro TARDIS and something else. I don't have any real fans to lose. So if you're surfing there on your silly little Tennant pics with your silly little friends, remember every cool episode I had. And then. And THEN. Do the smart thing. Get over him.
this music is so full of life and vibrancy, but there also seems to be a dark edge to it, just like the Doctor. Brilliant stuff...
This sort of music stirs so much emotion when you listen deep to it..

brilliant theme and it fits the new doctor perfectly, i used to cry at the old theme lol, thats because the tenth doctor was really a lonely god.

I always loved the Proms...great music and guests...I wanted to go to it and want to go to one in the future (or past *hehehe*).
Series 4 Specials Soundtrack will be released on 20 September. Series 5 Soundtrack probably in November.

Risky going for a 7/4 main theme, but it works amazingly.
