    i have this card and my friend and I both immediately noticed and commented on how gorgeous the backplate was... very clearly metal. we preferred the look of this card over the red devil, and the rgb is awesome if you're using/into rgb, tho for my build i mostly keep it off. some other details of your review may simply be a result of silicon lottery between the two cards, and the different platform they're running on (I'm referring mostly to the power draw figures), and card to card variance (referring to noise/temperature), as there are some conflicting reviews out there over a couple of these points, however the differences are very small so it's largely irrelevant. pick based on price or appearance only. for me this card was 10 cheaper and i preferred the look, easy choice. extremely happy with it.

    I own both the red Devll and the Nitro. I most definitely prefer the Nitro card. Powercolor is nice too but the make of the Nitro seems better quality and it most certainly looks better too. In terms of the performance its pretty much the same. Overall the Nitro is the one to go for if you don't mind spending a few extra measly bucks.

    AMD has the better gaming software features! so i wouldnt recommend the nvidia 2070 super. sapphire also comes with some resolution reducing software thing that can boost your frames and still look the same plus radeon's image sharpening, antilag, enhanced sync, freesync and theyre not jerks like nvidia and their dirty anti consumer tricks. the nvidia premium isnt worth the price anymore because theyre not so premium anymore neither is intel

      The Red Devil is cheaper on Amazon, even with a better VRM (Red Devil adds two more phases compared to Sapphire), although the 2-HDMI 2-Display Port config on the Sapphire is something that weighs a bit more. Tough decision, although if one is planning on adding a waterblock to the GPU, the Red Devil will be able to handle it soflty thanks to its betterpower config.

    I had the Nitro+, XFX Thicc III, and Red Devil on my list. I grabbed the Thicc III. I liked the look, but the card was trash. Returned it, got the Nitro+. I actually intended on the Red Devil, but it was sold out. I can't complain on the Nitro. It looks good, in my opinion, and does what I want it to do.

  • @peterjansen4826
    @peterjansen4826 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Leo, I like it that you hammer home the point that the reference card is much too noisy. I hope that AMD gets the message. I am astonished that AMD considered setting the fan-RPM an appropriate solution to earlier noise-complaints, just get rid of that bloody blowercooler, it serves no purpose in any other scenario than the smallest OEM-case with the tiniest case-fan and even then it is questionable.

    • @cosmic_drew
      @cosmic_drew 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rumor is AMD kept the blower style reference card to keep their GPU partners happy. They left the biaxial and triaxial design to the partner cards so they have a more compelling offering since AMD's gpus haven't been selling as well as NV lately.

    • @peterjansen4826
      @peterjansen4826 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cosmic_drew
      That is possible but the AIB/AIC-partners also do a bad job. Compare the cards of MSI and Gigabyte for the 5700 XT and RX 480/580 with the RTX 2070(S) and GTX 1060. MSI literally reused the shroud of the GTX 1060 for the RX 480, designed their RX 580 Gaming X for exactly 150W and not a W more (the Computerbase review was very bad for the Gaming X) and doesn't even use proper thermal pads for their 5700 XT cards. Gigabyte and MSI do a MUCH better job for Nvidia. Then you have XFX which screwed it up this time, the Nitro which comes another month later, the Red Devil which still can't be bought and the Strix which is ridiculously expensive (€550 in the Netherlands).
      If at least AMD would offer decent cards themselves...

    In the meantime where I live on the other side of the North Sea (Netherlands) we still pay €480 for the 5700 XT Pulse with its lightweighted basic heatsink while the reference card costs €410. What happened to that +$10 over MSRP, Sapphire? Bad supply, I guess. The Powercolor Red Devil is not available, MSI is but it is really bad, Gigabyte is but it is quite bad. 2.5 months after the paper launch we still can't buy decent 5700 XT cards.
    With regard to that lightweighted heatsink, here the numbers which show that I don't exaggerate.
    AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Reference 1.103 g
    Asus Radeon RX 5700 XT Strix OC 1.434 g
    Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT Pulse 925 g
    509 gram less for the Pulse than for the Strix, 178 gram less for the Pulse than for the reference card with its bloody blower-cooler. So far Navi has been rather disappointing, the supply is scarce, the aftermarket cards come incredibly late and we have paper launches.

    I see no point in testing temperatures when the computer is outside the case, I mean, how many of us actually use it like this? I had a 5700XT that would get 75C out of the case but 90C inside, that's a huge difference! I get that there are lots of different cases, and airflow differs between them, and so does the gpu temperatures, but still it's important to know how it behaves in a 'sealed' space. From your review, one can think sapphire would make the cade hotter since it draws more power and doesn't have a blower fan, but I cant know for sure because the test is made on a completely open space.

Warzone with everything ultra 1080p I get solid 140fps on average, but my bottleneck is the processor (R53600) since I get the same framerates with the lowest graphics at the same resolution.

  • @picklewiickle.1583

    yes blower cooler suck but.
    Doing test bench comparison like this is showing the 3 fan cooler in the best light because it isnt re circulating the air that will make it hotter and louder. But the blower cooler wont have that problem because it will be in a case extracting the air outside the case the 3 fan cooler will be louder in a case compared to test bench because it is re using the air... the blower isnt reusing the air. Im not saying the 3 fan isnt better it clearly is but the sound level difference isnt this wide not when their both in a case with the door on.

    What's the point of making "thicker" cards instead of wider ones?
    Thick cards (more than 2-slots) are always occupying the PCIe slots below and cripple that overpriced motherboard.
    Not everybody is a 12yrs old gamer. We are not using this computers for gaming-only !
    We need those PCIe slots in order to mount other cards... Please STOP making 2.5-3-slot GPUs..!
    Also, wider and longer cards can adopt the standart (or thinner) 120mm fans, which will have the best cooling performance ever seen without the need of the bulky, heavy heatsinks. Because of increased surface area which will be cooled faster. Additionally they will be much more quieter and can be interchangeable.
    Manufacturers are not doing this, cause nobody asked for it yet :(

    • @mikel_zz
      @mikel_zz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most people dont use more than 1 gpu or expansion cards. There is also a HUGE rising of SFF/mini itx cases that would definitely not work if gpu manufacturers just suddenly made the width super super wide.
      In reality, youd probably want the first pcie slot to have other expansion cards while the one directly lower to be the gpu. Problem solved for most people
      These are just some reasons to consider.
