I know this comment will just end up getting lost forever but you guys have really been an inspiration to me and are actually the reason I got my first dirtbike, I’ve been watching your videos since the first episode on the Barbie mustang and I just wanted to say keep your it up you guys genuinely have one of the coolest TH-cam channels, In my opinion.
To keep the output shaft from warping again you might consider a another bearing at the end of it, on the outside of the drive chain, to take the loading off it. As always, an awesome job!! Thanks guys!
Watching you guys really motivates me to work on a project some day. Working with engines and electronics can be a little intimidating but seeing you guys do this work makes me more confident to learn and make mistakes
I just love this channel. The (not too crazy) hoarding and eventually just fitting random hoarded parts to random mad projects is the best! And making use for whats available at any given situation is just pure brilliance!
gerekappo abrasive grinding on a lathe quickly damages the lathe ways and cross slide gibs. The accuracy goes out the window throughout the range. I guess if they want to replace the entire lathe after a year of use because they wont drape an old towel over the ways, it’s their money. It’s just stupid to be so wasteful.
Now Ethan, you play nice and give Edwin a turn driving before you break it ...again! This is an absolutely brilliant new project - is there a mini sprint car category for Pikes Peak racing? (That would be epic!) Keep doing what you do!
Love it! Would love to see a modern fuel injected supersport engine with a quick shifter thrown into the sprint car. It would make it even more of a beast! Also, I don't live too far from you guys, and I always enjoy seeing the current weather patterns reflected in your videos. Sometimes I can figure the exact day you filmed just from the rain or snow. PNW is the place to be!
Your chain is coming off because when you leave off the gas it's engine breaking witch puts hard pressure on the side of the chain where the tensioner is.. as a result it pulls that side tight and the top witch is the drive side becomes really loose and allows the chain to jump off the top side of the sprocket.. you would need a double tensioner for top and bottom to keep the chain from coming off the way the design is now.. or maybe a chain with a lot less play, almost tight might help.. good luck.. Randy
Oh the joys of GP shift :) As a motorcycle racer myself, Reverse shift or GP shift is a must-have. For situations like yours, it is generally a matter of necessity or function rather than choice. When you are balls deep in a turn on a motorcycle and you HAVE to grab another gear, being able to press down ( as opposed to reaching under the lever to pull up ) is paramount. This is especially true if you are making a left turn with hard parts starting to drag on the ground already. getting your foot under the shifter isn't fun when you are that close to the deck.
Looks like the tension on the chain reverses when you motorbrake. then the other side of the chain will loosen and flips off. you need a tensioner at both sids
Probably something that looks like a "chain slide" on the top side; it will need to will add tension to the top side when you motor brake- that is changing the tension side of the chain run- the slack is then on the wrong side.
Chain tensioner was mint, probably just needs a chain guide where it feeds onto lower rear sprocket. Awesome toy! You guys are sick. Love all the builds you do.
Ohhh hell yes, id love to see you guys get this new toy all worked out and tip-top like and take her around a dirt track lol see how she does what it was built/designed to do!
Guaranteed to keep 3 of the wheels in contact most of the time. I like that you can fabricate most of your parts instead of constantly waiting for a delivery.
that thing is sick! it totally rips it up out there. but i thought of a few mods you might want to do: 1. cut the wing in half, and mount the halves on a little lower, and also center the panels on the sides. it'll look cooler, be easier to transport and turn the same both directions at speed. the wing is meant for driving around in circles on a track, but by making it symmetrical you could balance the drag out more. 2. give it more offroad-y suspension. i know it already has good suspension but its got poor travel and is really stiff. longer travel and softer suspension would make it more comfy, and less likely to break if you jump it high / hit a big bump.
Hey guys. Love your channel and everything you've done, right up to this point. PLEASE don't jump that race car again! It was not designed to do that and you will turn it into a pile of cracked/bent tubing if you keep treating it like a cross kart, which it most definitely is not! Breaking off that shock tower should be proof enough, rusted or not. That adjustment, (up and down) is not for ground clearance. It is to loosen or stiffen up the chassis for different track conditions. I had a CBR 600 powered "sidewinder" mini sprint back in the 90's but always wanted a front mounted engine chassis. That is a really cool car you've found there. I'm in PHX, AZ and these cars were pretty popular back then and I'm pretty sure they still run them here. Let me know if you get bored and would like to sell it. I'll drive up to get it. I've never been to Idaho and would love an excuse to visit. It looks like an awesome place to live with some pretty awesome people! Or, it would be really cool to see Mark get it back, if he wanted it. I wish I had my first race car that my dad bought me. A Curtis quarter midget back in the early 60's. Almost too much fun for a little kid and memories I hope I never lose. Lost my pop back in 2001 to a brain aneurysm.
You guys are so COOL!! These videos take me back when I was in my 20's building stuff out of nothing. So awesome to watch you guys in a shop just like mine was. Makes me wish I had never got married and had to work in town....LOL Keep it up love these videos!!
I raced micros for a bunch of years. That thing is built more like a mini sprint which are 1000cc cars. Motor mounted between the frame rails where most micros are offset and the chain goes straight to the axle. Also has a midget steering gear in it, 250 and 600's usually are go kart type steering or really small rack & pinion. Probably a pretty badass car at one time.
You guys deserve your own video game with all your projects in it, or like an add on to a game such as Forza. These builds just look awesome and super quick. Keep it up!
That thing is cool! Personally I would love to see an outer bearing on the extension shaft, it will be putting huge load on the gearbox bearings and splines as it currently sits.
i have gsx 600 f swapped yamaha 450r and it’s had problems for days and this video helped a lot letting me see a common problem like the carbs and the chain tensioner hopefully with this i can get it to run soon
Bro idc what u guys build I'm watching bro u are at your craft and I truly enjoy watch and learning from you guys. U guys blow my mind with every video 🤯🤯🤯
For the chain falling issue you can try making four big washers, one for each side of the sprocket like a sprocket guard for both the engine-output sprocket and the tensioner sprocket because it seems that the chain comes off on the front first. If you google sprocket guard images you will understand better what I mean, it's used on quads. Great build!
You guys REALLY do make my day :) I build stuff too with my coworkers. We love and watch all of your videos. My buddy Shane wants all of the machining tools you have. Thats what makes your channel unique! You make SO many things from scratch and have so much talent. Cheers from Ontario.
All fun and games til the chain take an elbow off! Buddy of mine was on a Thunderkart with his arm around behind the driver holding the frame. Chain snapped now he's got a thumb and a pinky on his left hand. We used to trash chain guards on everything from bicycles to 3 wheelers etc. That changed it for me, guards on everything (OK except a bicycle🤪) Otherwise, cool build and excellent content. New favorite channel!
There are many things you can do to change the setup on it and get it to your liking. They are designed to go around counter clockwise on an oval but great vid loving your work.
I just want to say guys you guys are amazing I love watching your videos guys very talented and what you can make and what you do so keep it up keep on with the great videos from a big fan in New Zealand

A neat way to couple a jack shaft to an output shaft like that is to attach the stock sprocket to the output, weld a matching sprocket to the jackshaft and couple them by wrapping double row chain around them.
2JZ Mower video coming soon don't worry! Also the 4WD Jeep is dangerously close to completion!
More spitfire vids please!!
I wanna see the sprint car get a killer paint job!
yay lawnmower
I race whats called a dwarf car it has a gsxr 1000 with a toyota 10 bolt rear end i say you guys look into racing it
Ha that's a good joke every car guy knows no project is ever complete.
It never ceases to amaze how ingenious Ethan can be when fabricating
"Good thing we sent it hard on the first one because it isn't gonna do a second one!" We all knew it was coming. Kind of a given at this point.

Please, for the love of old American made tools, cover the lathe ways when grinding.
They don't care, they USE their stuff, the lathe is 100 years old? i doubt that will prevent that from working!
@@gerekappo I know what you are saying but it will last another hundred years if you keep the grind dust off it and keep it lubed good

You should not be grinding near your equipment grinding dust rust everything extremely bad. If you can do your grinding outside.

The kart shows how aerodynamics does not always mean smooth lines , sometimes it’s a giant wing in right above the driver seat.
There is nothing aerodynamic on that thing. The wing is more about downforce
This may be the coolest and most bad ass project from this channel
