I do have 2 additional tips I would like to add that I learned from the game. 1. He did talk about how using rods on certain terrain increase their range. However, what he showed but didn't talk about is that it also exposes their weak point gauge regardless of their element as long as they're not the same kind of element you're using. (this is helpful against normal or electric enemies since they don't have a weakness.) Also for those who aren't aware, you can check to see which rod would be most effective by holding L and then looking at the ring that spreads from you. If there's location where the rod would be most effective, little symbols of that rod will fly out of the ring. It might be a blink and you'll miss but trust me this can be helpful for those who are new or want a refresher. 2. Each character actually has a move that can expose their weak point regardless of their pose. Most commonly, it's the last strong attack you unlock for a character. Landing this can be tricky, so you gotta be aware of guarding or dodging when you see your enemy go in an attack animation warning. However, land that strong attack and it will open their weak point, then you can immediately get a Stasis in to damage the gauge further. Some exceptions from the common strong attack is Zelda which requires her second press of her last strong attack, and Link actually has two, the last strong attack and his fully charged fourth strong attack. Hope this helps out too to follow up his. He does a great job explaining btw.
For me its Link, Impa and Urbosa Link while vanilla I just love wrecking the enemy with the Master Sword .... Impa because Ninja hitting like a freighter train And while Urbosa can feel clunky because of the need to recharge her lightning gauge I just love incinerating enemies with Lightning ...
Reading these it seems like I'm one of the only people who does not like playing as imps. Like, I can appreciate how powerful she is, but I just don't have fun. I like playing as the monk because of how much chaos he causes between bouncing or flinging his balls (lol) and.... SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 5 AND POST GAME His enhanced and ex enhanced abilities of exploding clones and the death beam. And my absolute favorite character is Teba because using him is like playing a different game. The normal strategy in this game is to do as many weak point smashes as you can. since his C6 brings him so high up and does so much damage, he basically can stay untouchable and focus on doing direct damage to captains and bosses. And tho he can't expose them, his stasis that's broken (between how many enemies it can time lock and how long they stay locked) allows you to shed through weak point gauges with his C1, C2, and C6. And although Revali definitely does better here, his C2, C3, and C4 are great for crowd control.
My favorite character is... (CHAPTER 5 SPOILER ALERT) Teba, because I like mashing, he can absolutely melt enemies, and he's one of (if not the) best crowd clearer in the game. Also, since he doesn't have an attack that can reveal the weak-point gauge, I find I am often more defensive with him, so I tend to take less damage when playing as him.
Recently started a new playthrough on the top difficulty and I think knowing to shoot moblins in the horns may become a game changer for me. Do you know if wizzrobes and lizalfos have similar weak spots? Also Sidon is one of my favourites for playing my meta game of 'How far can my reign of chaos tank the frame rate?' lol!
@@KayGoodstuffDo ahh fair play, i have noticed that wizzrobes seem to be a little more susceptible to midair attacks but i can't be 100% on that. also tbh the lizalfos outpost bosses are usually so useless i don't even think weak point gauges are even needed anyway. it's been super helpful for lynels and moblins though especially when i get swarmed haha.

How the heck do you get the special variations for the weakpoint smashes? I can’t get Impa or Link to do the cool guardian kills
@@KayGoodstuffDo ill test it
Ok so it seemed to work with Link. Still get the same variation for Impa though
