- Red Victor is the world’s fastest street legal car - albeit a Vauxhall Victor built in a Wolverhampton lock up. We first met it a few years ago when it could do 0-60 in 1 second. Now the owner has made it even faster - and has invited us along to see if it can break a drag strip world record. Jonny becomes the world’s fastest passenger as he rides shotgun. Taken from Series 22 of Fifth Gear, first broadcast in 2013.

@@thezanzibarbarian5729 The first gallon I ever bought was 6/7d, that's 6 shillings and sevenpence, pre decimalisation, which then became 33p per gallon, shortly afterwards.
Lighning quick reaction catching that beast, the guys skill behind the wheel shone more to me than the car. And the car shone bright!

This video is from 2013 but Red Victor 3 ran 5.87@263mph in 2019. At the time, this was the quickest street legal car + quickest door slammer in Europe. And here it is:

I'm from where you have one guy with a pro mod made from a Buick Roadmaster... Builds his own engines. He swaps his tires out changes his fuel source and goes into "track mode" runs low fives changes it back and drives it home. Does that not count?

When it does more that 310 MPH like John Bohmer's Ford GT then you can call it the world's fastest street car.
That's just stupid. You're comparing a slow red car from the UK to a car that took teams of mechanics, engineers and tons of funding (as well as many other issues) just to do what an SCC, Bugatti or Hennessy can nearly do without the support groups continuously pouring over it.
Tom Bailey, Steve Morris, Cleatus McFarland....there are many cars and drivers in America that would make this red car seem slow.

I think Red Victor could certainly be up there with Tom Bailey but like everything it comes down to money so I think we need to help in some way and I’d certainly help 😊
Tom is well into the 5's and actually pulls a trailer 1000 miles too. He is making nearly 5000 horsepower on Steve Morris' Dyno. Steve runs 6's in a full body street legal station wagon too...just sayin.

The Dodge Demon C170 runs 8's from the factory. The red car here is pretty to look at but he'd be destroyed if he raced in America.

@@Yimello seems to be an odd claim since Italy, France, Germany and Japan has pretty much made those overpriced go-karts better than the UK.
As a rule of measure it's safe to say that our full bodied NASCAR teams are all proven to be faster and actually look like a real car...of course we have Top fuel that go from Zero to nearly 340 mph in 3.6 seconds and are producing a mere 12,000 horsepower and look like a faster version of your F1 cars.

If you aren't breaking stuff then you just aren't trying, the 2 step on launch has made a massive difference in Drag Racing and my hat's off to the bloke behind the wheel for doing this with commentary and movement from the drinkers seat.

Yes it is, from 2013.
It is already left hand drive, sound like it needs to go to 'drag week' and see if being 'street legal' (remember the first test in tech is INSURANCE on it), it could do five races in 7 days and what 2200 miles on public roads.......
It's a lot more street legal than any US drag car, in the UK it's far more strict than the USA to be road legal.

I say again if this is a 'street legal' car then let them play on drag week. The first part of tech inspection is INSURANCE, the second? LICENSE plates! so that probably lets out that monster right there. Check out some of the footage of the guys trying to win those jackets......

That "street legal" won't be street legal in most of the countries.
It wasn't street legal when doing the runs either.. had slick drag tyres on it. The are most probably swapped when the thing goes out on the road once a year to get an M.O.T. Not sure how well it would fare on noise either, but there are no strict rules on that and probably ok driving on road in a light throttle or low boost set up.
