One time I got a ginger lemon tea, which I typically enjoy, but it was like being pepper sprayed in the throat and nose with ginger. I would never show that I don’t like a drink or food in front of the person who made it aside from a “not my cup of tea” if they’re asking. But in this case, I was visibly shaken by small sip I took. If you want to see my reaction, go to 16:45. That was pretty much my body’s natural response. Of course I regained my composure, said “no it’s good it just went down the wrong pipe”, walked out, and I haven’t had a sip of ginger lemon tea since:
Blackberries are delicious. The problem is the ones at the stores are never picked when they're ripe so they're sour and bitter. They're weeds here in Oregon so you can find tons of them on the side of the road, in ditches and in fields, and they're super sweet and delicious
We have them here in Cali as well. They grow along the creeks here and I'd go and harvest some with my mom when I was a kid! They're so good when sun ripened.
For real. I knew ginger was strong compared to the other things before but I didn't think their reaction was gonna be that extreme. It's really not that bad.
I'm as white as they come and these guys' reactions were crazy XD Raw ginger is fairly potent but not that bad, raw garlic I could sit there and eat like grapes
I eat organic girl salad and it's actually so good. If you want a good salad, I do: some leaf mix, feta cheese, craisins, roasted shell-less pumpkin seeds, chopped tomatoes, avocado, and blue cheese dressing. All my fav flavors in one bowl. I think it'd be good with buffalo chicken strips.
As a Mexican I am so shook at their response to radishes, we eat them damn near every time we eat tacos. Sometimes alone and sometimes you put some lime and salt. 😅😂
Honestly, i was told the radishes keep the tacos moist and thats my giveaway for like... I don't like radishes so i guess it's a good reason for me to be like 'yeah its there to help the food so i guess I don't have to eat it' lmao
There's just something so funny about 23:34. Charles looks so satisfied, either because he's remembered that okra is called okra or because he reckons mini cucumbers taste the same as okra, meanwhile Matt just gives him the dirtiest look and "whaaat?" I've ever seen.
i actually grew up with radishes. you just clean them, cut of the two ends, slice down the middle and put a bit of salt onto the insides. then you let them "cry" and that will tone down the onion like "spicyness". if you want it milder keep them crying longer, if you like that spice dont keep them waiting to long. i really like them when we have cold dinner.
I physically gag when I bite into a tomato, but I've never went further than the first physical reaction to figure out if I'll actually get sick if I keep going. I was a little sad when they didn't like the radish. I know it's probably just one of those things that some people like and some people hate, but dang I love radishes. They're like carrots. Just good and crunchy.
Some varieties of lettuce are actually quite healthful, and spinach contains a high level of oxalic acid. Cooking the spinach breaks this down and actually promotes the absorption of the nutrients which are normally blocked by that oxalic acid. Spinach salads are not nearly as healthy as a lot of people think.
Spinach is only really beneficial when it's fresh, and I mean actually fresh, not stored in a warehouse for god knows how long and then put in the grocery store
As a European, straight up grabbing a raw tomato from my mom's garden and eating it like a Apple is one of the most refreshing things there are. Also, a third of the tomato just juices out lol. Bro Radish is one of the best raw veggies

@@greengoblin876 nah he didn't cook them lol, he just thought they weren't meant to be eaten raw, most ppl eat them raw since its kinda like a palate cleanser, oh and yes they can be cooked, there's some pretty good dishes to cook them, even just simply grilling them and then adding salt is pretty good iirc
The first time I ever had baked kale, my mind was blown. I never knew something so rancid could taste so good. My old room mate use to bake chicken breasts with oil, potatoes, and crushed up tiny kale bits. The kale would get crispy like bacon and seemed to absorbed a lot of the oil and salt. 10/10 meal.
It gets such a good texture when crispy and also doesn't cook up like spinach or lettuces. I throw it in pastas, casseroles, eggs, soups and it retains a nice meaty texture. Also the different varieties of kale taste different. The curly kale you get in stores is really bitter and tough, not good for eating raw, but lacinato kale is light and crispy with a much milder flavor.

Good radish is fcking great. But to be fair, their radish looked really sad, i assume they just got a bad one. Too watery radish tastes just like dirt and old radish tastes like old people smell.
The avocado water consumption discussion was interesting, by comparison 1 pound of beef is anywhere from 1250 to 2400 gallons of water to produce depending on the source you use.
It's good that water is infinitely recyclable though, so the reason why it's expensive is because it takes more effort and water but it's not like water is disappearing into space
@@JeffreyBenzodiazepines fresh water absolutely is. A grow population and warmer temperatures are going to seriously strain our fresh water reserves over the next 30 years. Our demand for fresh water will outstrip our supply by 40% in the coming decade. It's an actual concern in the near future. That's not even considering regions that have heavy droughts.
Marmite is great on toast. You have to use a tiny tiny amount because it's so strong. Anything you might put salted butter on, you can put a miniscule amount of marmite and get a similar result.
In South Africa we do both, tiny tiny amount of marmite on toast with salted butter. The cold creaminess of the butter with the warm rich marmite on the toast is a really nice combo.
Agree! I love Marmite too. A scraping with cheese is lovely. I think a lot of people trying it for the first time don’t realise it’s a condiment- you wouldn’t eat a teaspoon of mustard, vinegar or salt and Marmite is the same.

I'm so glad there's other people in this world that appreciate the satisfaction of just biting in to a hard boiled egg. I absolutely love them as well, and they really are a super food, they've got some stupidly good nutritional values. Apparently the protein in eggs has a higher anabolic effect than even meat and fish which is your typical protein sources, so although it doesn't have the volume of protein, the quality of it is what stands out.

@Voltage Efflux Correct. There are actually 3 different spicy compounds. Ginger chilli pepper and Sichuan are examples of the 3 different types. They create slightly different sensations.

I'd love to see these guys do a fruit snack tier list after watching them being miserable here. as a fruit snack connoisseur I have great recommendations
That was hilarious. I agree though. Ginger is yummy but a raw chunk is just super aggressive and intense. You really want to cook it or at least have it as a small part of a much bigger dish.
I actually love radish, and I didn't even know there's ways to eat it "non raw" but maybe they're grown differently in America because I've never had radish smell like fish here in Germany 🤣
I really think it's amazing how all these fruits and veggies are good for a part of your body. Beets are great for your heart and your blood. Tomatoes help fight against multiple diseases. Kale is great for your eyes and bones. Etc.
When they're talking about the apple seeds being poisonous being a bad defense mechanism; i think the point of the seeds being poisonous is to kill whatever eats them to spread the seed, or have the seeds be cast aside to the ground since it isnt edible. Fruits are generally intended to be taken by animals to spread the seeds somehow.
As a diabetic I have a theory as to where that myth came from. We prick our fingers to get blood sugar readings and if touching pigmented stuff the pigment sticks to the holes especially. I remember always being mortified and grossed out by it lol
I like how they were just saying how fruit should be more aggressive with their defenses and at the same time piss themselves when they find one that does
They should have blended all of the foods into one liquid super drink and finally achieved 100% power.

they also said that they are bitter? I've never had bitter blackberries in my life lol
It's crazy how good blackberries are. It straight up tastes like candy, I don't know how someone could not enjoy them.
17:25 I love how Charlie is like a cartoon scientist “I can reduce the burn from the gingerol by dissolving it in the fat from the avocado”
This 😭
Blackberries are delicious. The problem is the ones at the stores are never picked when they're ripe so they're sour and bitter. They're weeds here in Oregon so you can find tons of them on the side of the road, in ditches and in fields, and they're super sweet and delicious
That's why you get frozen fruit.....
Also from Oregon, and yeah, entirely accurate
We have them here in Cali as well. They grow along the creeks here and I'd go and harvest some with my mom when I was a kid! They're so good when sun ripened.
the wild blackberries you find here are probably my favorite berries of all, they're really good

i actually grew up with radishes. you just clean them, cut of the two ends, slice down the middle and put a bit of salt onto the insides. then you let them "cry" and that will tone down the onion like "spicyness". if you want it milder keep them crying longer, if you like that spice dont keep them waiting to long. i really like them when we have cold dinner.

Some varieties of lettuce are actually quite healthful, and spinach contains a high level of oxalic acid. Cooking the spinach breaks this down and actually promotes the absorption of the nutrients which are normally blocked by that oxalic acid.
