Chris was in the crowd and the band asked him to sing a song with them, and he did. The band members are blown away. He has a generational voice. His songs Cold, Fire Away, Death Row are very good.
@@Douglas_Fcking_Scott A lie?! Really only going off what I have seen and heard regarding this video. None of the guitarists are in his original bands group... duh
@@angelabarazzone7899 oh you mean when Chris Stapleton a good friend of the band sang with them at their residency is Nashville yeah kinda sucks when you don't know what you're talking about but aye 🤷🏻♂️ do you
His speaking voice is soft spoken. You’re right, you would never expect that voice from him. That’s what makes it fascinating. He has a couple of acoustic songs that really show his vocal range. “Sometimes I cry “ live at bing lounge and “barely alive “. I’ve listened to them a million times and am still amazed.
Remember James Brown sang Blues, R & B, etc... Chris is also singing Blues as well as Country, Bluegrass, etc... So they have overlapping genres. Chris is ones of those that easily can sing songs from multiple genres or cover a song in a different style of genre if he wanted.
Check out his live performance with Justin Timberlake at the CMA's where They performed Tennessee Whiskey and Drink You Away. You get the bonus of having Chris's wife on stage singing backups as well. 😉👍🏻
lex is very insightful she pointed out things about chris i never thought of. chris was a songwriter for a long time.. if you what to check out some of his original work.. check out "I WAS WRONG" at Austin City Limits also "I CRY" at Bing Lounge.. also "WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO" all great songs he wrote and put his heart and soul into.. i think the song "i was wrong" was wrote for his his wife..she was the blond lady singing with hime in Tennessee whiskey . great reactions.. i got another great soulful singer if you never heard of him. Teddy Swims the song "i can't make you love me
Ooohhhh Tom MacDonald and Chris Stapleton on your channel!! Somehow I missed that you did something from him before. 🤔 Hell yeah!! My two favorites. ❤️🙌
The woman who sings with him on many songs is his wife Morgane. She's the one who got him to start singing. He wrote songs for many artists and had intense self-doubt about singing. "Sometimes I Cry" live is pretty awesome.
@@JoeBlow_4 he sang in multiple bands prior to going solo, not to mention performing solo a song writer events etc. He didn't get signed as a solo artist for a long time because country music is being turned pop. He didn't have "the look" they wanted to package. His wife may have talked him into going solo but not to sing. It's a similar rumor that ppl say he has stage fright, which is why he looks at her when they perform together.
I heard that this was actually not apart of their concert schedule set up thing. This was a request from a woman in the audience.. And they just did it on the spot. Sometimes i cry (live) and death row is definitely worth checking out. And his preformence with Justin Timberlake at the cma (i think) they did Tennessee whiskey and drink you is really good... When you listen to Stapleton always do the lives if you find them. He is better live imo and his voice really shine then..
If y'all want to legit be blown away, you need to check out Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (Live at El Mocambo). When y'all decide to do it doesn't matter, but it is a must. Stevie Ray Vaughan is arguably (keyword: "arguably" comments section, you're entitled to your opinions) the greatest guitarist of all time.
Great review again guys! Yeah his voice is sublime textured and layers like Lex says, he's got power, range, control, so much feeling/expression and gravel rolled into one! 👍❤️🎸🎤😎🏴
I live in Chris's home town Paintsville Ky. My wife went to high school with him. I've never met him, but I've never heard anything but him being a genuinely great guy to boot.
He has a tribute to Prince, a tribute to Aretha Franklin and a cover of Whipping Post that are all incredible!!!!! But if you haven't watched Sometimes I Cry, it is also a must see!!!
I fail to understand how Lex can state that he's not saying much here. This song says so much with just a few words that it boggles the mind, no matter if James Brown or Chris Stapleton sings it.
"Fool Me Again" and "Ain't Livin' Long Like This" are my 2 favorites. But anything he does is perfection, and if his wife Morgane is harmonizing with him.....ya get the shivvers its so beautiful and powerful.
Ok, y'all HAVE to check out some of the stuff he did with The SteelDrivers back in the day. I'd recommend Blue Side of the Mountain. And yes, I happily go from listening to System of a Down one minute to Chris Stapleton the next. 😁 I love that y'all too aren't afraid to be eclectic.
Have you heard his cover of the Allman Bros. "Whipping post". He sang it in front of the lead singer for the Allman Bros. Gregg Allman. Gregg gave him a standing ovation.
More Chris please. He doesn’t have a bad song but I recommend the live performance with Justin Timberlake of Tennessee Whiskey and Drink you away. Or death row, or Amanda (he sings with his wife), or sometimes I cry. 👍
For chris stapelton vocals and guitar...I was wrong performed at Austin city limits. For a true sample of the power of his vocals....sometimes I cry live at bing lounge. For one of the best live guitar performances, Mississippi Queen live by Zakk Wylde, dude uses a long thumb nail for a guitar pick. Crazy good
Tenn Whiskey is Chris's song that he rewrote and done by George Jones. It has been covered many times since Chris. I suggest, What Are You Listening To
Two other covers you should listen to are "Amanda", and "Nothing compares to you". Hell, just search for him on TH-cam and watch everything. The man is amazing
You 2 are great followed you since your NF reactions... Unfortunately Brad doesn't seem to quite understand the level of perfection he's witnessing here. Stapleton is a true GOAT
I loved your reaction and comments. You should check out his Austin City Limits performance of "I Was Wrong". Also, his live performance at the Bing Lounge of "Sometimes I Cry" is amazing. All his live performances are worth watching. I usually prefer them over his studio versions because he showcases more of his talent. That being said, there isn't a Christ Stapleton song I don't like.
ORIGINALS BY CHRIS THAT ARE MUST REACTIONS INCLUDE (FOR A GOOD START) "I WAS WRONG", "COLD", "EITHER WAY", "DEATH ROW", "I WAS WRONG", "WHISKEY & YOU", "WITHOUT YOUR LOVE", "DEVIL ALWAYS MADE ME THINK TWICE", " WHISKEY SUNRISE" & SO MANY MORE. PERIOD!!!!!! CHRIS STAPLETON HAS BEEN A PROFESSIONAL SONGWRITER SINCE 2001 BECOMING A MULTIMILLIONAIRE IN THE PROCESS WELL BEFORE HE WAS "DISCOVERED" IN 2015 AFTER HIS CMA'S PERFORMANCE WITH (HIS FRIEND) JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE! BTW ANOTHER GREAT REACTION OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!! NEW SUB HERE. I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR FUTURE CHRIS STAPLETON REACTIONS!!!!!!!!
Dean Dillon wrote Tennessee Whiskey and tried to get George Strait to record it. George Strait turned it down and then George Jones and David Allen Coe recorded it. The original is a straight country and western song and you would probably not recognize or even like the original. Chris Stapleton came out with the new version of it combining the lyrics for Tennessee Whiskey with the feel of Etta Jame’s “I’d Rather Go Blind”. Everyone else is covering Chris’ arrangement of the song.
Check out Chris' cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U", the Allman Bros "Whipping Post", or BB King's "The Thrill is Gone" His originals are excellent, but he can cover songs with the best.
Also, if you're interested in other people along the same lines as Chris Stapleton/SteelDrivers, look at Tyler Childers, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, and The Dead South.
many people can sing this and have covered it, its a matter of them being half decent. if you guys watch shows like the voice, american idol, americas got talent, x factor, etc you'll see many good renditions of this song. Especially if you watch the other country versions of the aforementioned shows.
Chris was in the crowd and the band asked him to sing a song with them, and he did. The band members are blown away. He has a generational voice. His songs Cold, Fire Away, Death Row are very good.

Chris's little _show off_ song. I love listening to exactly what his voice can do both in his higher range and with those runs.
Sometimes I cry and I was wrong!

"I was wrong" or "Whiskey and you" are excellent originals of his.
Whiskey and you is so good!
Too many to choose from honestly... Even his stuff from the Jompson Brothers or the Steel Drivers...
This was an impromptu performance. No warm-up, no auto tune.
Remember James Brown sang Blues, R & B, etc... Chris is also singing Blues as well as Country, Bluegrass, etc... So they have overlapping genres. Chris is ones of those that easily can sing songs from multiple genres or cover a song in a different style of genre if he wanted.
His authenticity makes everything he sings seem like they are his own and probably because he puts so much of himself into it.
