One thing I have learned from watching about a million of these college acceptance videos is that there is a common thread with these people who get into the most prestigious colleges. They are obviously very smart but the commonality I see is in their personalities and families. They come from Very strong supportive and loving families, They are very grateful and humble and probably most evident is that they worked extremely hard for these accomplishments. These people are the cream in our society. Much respect to them and their families.

I love how she got into Dartmouth and they were like “yay.” If I got into Dartmouth my parents would faint! But I guess it all depends on your academic level. To her, she can make it anywhere! So it’s not as exciting lol

Iris Fu Dartmouth is known as the “Forgotten Ivy”. Maybe it is the least known Ivy. So it is not unusual that your parents didn’t have much of a reaction.

Niiiice. I got accepted into Stanford as well and pursuing a good ol’ mba. It’s funny I only applied to Stanford and a safety NC State and got deferred at nc state lol. Maybe I will see you on campus fellow class of 24 :)

This was a great video. For highly qualified students, it truly shows how admission is so hit and miss amongst the most selective universities. For those that my not get into their first choice schools, this shows there were plenty of great options, even if you did not get into Stanford. Congrats and I hope you are thriving at Stanford now!

On the one hand, videos like these are super stressful, but on the other hand, they give me hope since I see a lot of people who don’t get into the less selective ivies but somehow get into the MORE selective ivies. Idk why but it gives me hope that maybe I could get into one of them

so i've been watching these college decision reaction videos for literally the entire college apps season, and i was so excited to make one of my own. the college application process is truly a roller coaster, but it's a thrilling and fun one, with some very scary turns and disappointing drops. if any of you guys have any questions regarding the college application process--whether that's essay writing, extracurriculars, or academics--please let me know. i'd be happy to lend a helping hand. it takes a village, and i'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities and support i've received. just leave me a comment and we can get in touch!

Congratulations on Stanford, though I hope you still consider Cornell! (I had a friend that turned down Stanford and Harvard for Cornell). From a Cornell '93 alum. John
Wow that's awesome! What made your friend choose Cornell?
To be honest, I am not sure except that my friend said she visited Stanford and Harvard and didn't like it when she visited. She's also one of the most self-confident and smartest people I know, so I know she didn't really care what other people thought. She was admitted to the Arts & Sciences college and had an independent major.
Being active in the Cornell San Francisco Bay Area, I knew a Cornell alum who worked as a senior administrator at Stanford, and she thought Cornell was a better undergraduate experience than Stanford - one thing you may not know is that Stanford has more graduate students than undergraduate students (Cornell is the opposite). Both Stanford and Cornell are big schools - one thing that Dartmouth has an advantage if you want a smaller and more "personal" experience (though Hanover, NH makes Ithaca, NY look like Manhattan ...)
But since you are from Oregon (and I assume one of your parents work for Intel if you live in Corvallis) that you want to eventually stay on the West Coast. It's kind of a no-brainer to go to Stanford (unless it's financially not viable).
Yeah, college admissions is pretty whack. The fact that you got into Stanford and not into Columbia and UPenn is crazy.

It's actually my first comment on youtube, but as a recent grad from Berkeley, a huuuge congrats on your hardwork and achievement! You should seriously consider Berkeley if you are interested in a diverse and "democratic" atmosphere and a solid place to learn, although Stanford and ivies are good choices:))) Btw, I'm just curious about the current admission cycle: what's typcially a good enough SAT score rn to get into a Top 15/Top 20?

I would generally consider my English not to be very bad. I study the language and have been studying at a boarding school for a certain time. Now I have to say that when I examine your language skills, I see that you think in the language, have totally taken it and subconsciously use it. I would love to get to that point. My English meets the standards of C1 with a tendency towards C2. To gain more fluidity and confidence with the language I would very much like to ask for your advice. Perhaps you can reflect on what has helped you and help you to use English at the level of speaking and writing. Thank you very much, I appreciate it.
What I probably need is a bit more time of exposure to the language) My brain and consciousnesses simply need more time to be completely accustomed to the language i am learning. Any advice on how to reach this?
try studying abroad in the US or another english speaking country! There are also great language exchange platforms that matches you with someone who speaks your target language and you can get more practice speaking time in. hope this helps!
