I always enjoy your videos because having grown up in New Hampshire and having family in Plattsburgh NY I’ve only driven through Vermont a million times. It brings back many memories.
Merry Christmas early. One thing a trucker told me that always helped his rig start in cold weather. A engine heater and keeping at least a 1/3 or half tank of fuel. Clean up those battery bars really good.
I wouldn't count out the Toyota till you look it over, Because it could be cheap parts from Rock Auto and your time could equal profit. Good to see you back 😁
That must be some potent salt they use on the roads in New England. They salt roads here in the midwest but i dont think I ever saw a lower control arm break. Your sisters are lucky to have you.
I always like your vids!ps,, at cold start on diesels when its poppin but not starting hold throttle all the way down and crank, let of the throttle as it finally starts running, this worked on all our diesel plow trucks last winter
Great video ARV. Gotta love how the 96 K1500 Silverado is the one assisting your 2 sister’s NEWER model vehicles while they’re disabled. Gotta love, and appreciate the dependability & longevity of the GMT400 series. What a snag of a truck you managed to pickup in that one from Washington state. Thoroughly enjoyed the content you put out with Waldo on y’all’s trip back to Vermont with it.😎👍🏻
Hey young man I don't know if you know this but you're messing up your parking check on your tow rigs because you're not setting the parking brake when you're loading the trucks and that makes it really hard on your parking check inside the transmission so you should try to remember to set your parking brake when you're loading up the truck so it doesn't shake back and forth it's going to break that thing off one of days love the video.
This is absolute nonsense. The only way you’re gonna break the park gear in a transmission like that is if you throw it in park at highway speed. And that might not even break it. But I do love scrolling the comments for mechanically illiterate advice.
Think about it. This numb skull is trying to tell you that the largest toothed gear in the entire vehicle is gonna fail before even slipping the tires. You can park the vehicle on 30%. Grade with no problem but loading a Subaru on flat ground is gonna kill it. These people are all over TH-cam.
The weight of the vehicle puts excessive strain on the parking pawl of a transmission if you park on hills, hence the PARKING BRAKE. Parking pawls are strictly for preventing the vehicle from moving. When loading any trailer, rig or pickup truck, the parking brake should be set for safety and the transmission.
Love when you post a video. That semi and trailer has proven to be worth it's weight in gold. I think you like being a part time trucker. Take care of yourself and your back.
Hate to see the van Go you haven’t had it long but it is what it is. Don’t worry you we’ll find another one keep the videos. Hope you have a great Christmas and a happy new year.
Well that was a lot of running around to get disabled vehicles take care of. I'm glad that the control arm let go when your sister was doing around town driving and not on the Interstate at 70 MPH... How is your back doing? Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄❄⛄
Think you might want to kee a can of starting fluid in your truck and give it a couple of good squirts on those cold ones or even better plug in the block heater for a while I plug my cars in and have a timer that starts around 2am turning on the heaters so they don't have to be on all night makes a big difference on starting and saves somecwear and tear on the starter, battery and the engine. 😊👍 from the looks of those tanks you might want to give them a squirt of undercoat wool wax or something it is Vermont rust mite season. 🙂
I would get new go plugs for the semi if u use it for more halling idk how cold it gets in your area new plugs will help maybe look at some other things while at it make sure everything is good
I'm a truck driver and whats crazy is if the semi is for personal use like a farm you don't need a CDL. If you are driving for a living as in making money off of it they make you get a commercial drivers license.
As an English man who's had at least 30 diesel cars and vans , when they have trouble starting like that its far easier just replacing all glow plugs . Obviously weather does make a difference .
Glad to see you up and moving pain free! Im assuming you had a discectomy? If so def take it easy for at least 6-8 months which I know is easier said then done but not worth reinjury....
get a can of either to start your truck when cold. ask for either or starting fluid. ur truck will start a lot easier that way. you almost ran out of battery.
A lot of work, time, and fuel to make a few bucks. I probably would've called the local scrap vehicle pickup guy on each of those shit boxes and found a better use of my days.
I bet the Toyota van only has scrap value with all it damage and likely more rust out damage. The Subaru may be fixable if not rusted out. The Jeep will be some farmer's vehicle or someone beating it up off road.
Dunno whats wrong with your Volvo , mine was a 2005 model with 2 million kms on her and never gave me those problems . I had gel batteries . I think you need new glow plugs
See there's the thing, you were driving kilometers which are much easier on a rig than miles. Had you driven that distance in miles, it would be a completely different story.
That Volvo's lifespan is about to come to an halt, you better flip it before it breaks down or it's gonna break your wallet bro. The starter on these are very expensive and labour charges are out the world. Better get something with half million mile truck like that.
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 If i saw correctly, it seems that the broken section is covered in rust instead to be metal reflectant as it should be in a snapped component. I think that your sister driving hasn't anything to do with the failure, could be that the control arm was cracked for a long time and rust and fatigue did the rest. Be safe and your sisters too
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 I'm sorry for being irritable, lol. I'll still watch your stuff. BTW you can change what your @name is when you reply to comments if you don't want that long name. By all means, rural Vermonter, use your parking brake and trailer brakes, wheel chocks, chains, tree savers, lucky charms whatever you got but please don’t worry about your park gear. That’s all I’m saying people.
For heavens sakes people, our boy here literally got his CDL certification months ago. So you’re either saying that he forgot everything he was taught or that the DMV doesn’t test properly. Which is it? Ya know who isn’t driving a semi? You. Keep it to yourself.
Haha I drove from Windsor to Burlington but only filmed on my way back when I wasn’t loaded (south) so I don’t have to mess with my camera with a loaded rig
Nice rescue adventure! Poor CAMERA didn't avoid the DODGE though lol.
I always enjoy your videos because having grown up in New Hampshire and having family in Plattsburgh NY I’ve only driven through Vermont a million times. It brings back many memories.
A new Rural Vermonter video?! Now thats what makes a perfect day.
But the Volvo needs glow plugs gehe
Good to see that you are still alive and well. 😊
It just gets more interesting every time, I need to take a nap just watching this stuff.
Merry Christmas early.

It's always a great day when you post. Love the content and the hard work, keep it up!
Missed you!! Glad you are doing well. Your sisters are lucky to have you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The snow plow Jeep always impresses me. It never fails to start!
Starting fluid can be your friend! 😊
Love it when i find another channel close to us. Southern NH. Great video. Put a pully at the end of trailer an you can use you winch to pull car off
You should cycle the glow plugs two or three times without cranking it before you start it when it is that cold out
yeah even a small sedan like my father's old Peugeot 305 needed that and we never got as cold as Vermont.
I love your content man. You move the hell out of some cars.

I agree parking brake a good idea I've seen trucks roll almost half a turn into the parking pawl! It didnt break but it made me flinch
always an interesting video when you upload, nice work! lookin forward to the next one.
need a block heater for diesel up north usa
Love the videos man. Can't wait to see the next. God Bless and merry Christmas

Me too. Back feels great!
Gonna have to have the ether bunny pay it a visit when ever you wanna start it this winter

With this truck, you can moonlight as a repo man.
I would enjoy that haha.
Much credit for all your hard work in the cold. Chances are you have a glow plug issue.
I would get new go plugs for the semi if u use it for more halling idk how cold it gets in your area new plugs will help maybe look at some other things while at it make sure everything is good
Camera getting hit by the Dodge was a funny beat
Great video, Merry Christmas 🎄
I really enjoy your videos . Keep it up !!
Now the starter motor is working as the glow plugs had me dying 🤣
Thanks for the content!
I'm a truck driver and whats crazy is if the semi is for personal use like a farm you don't need a CDL. If you are driving for a living as in making money off of it they make you get a commercial drivers license.
In vt they don’t issue farm use plates unfortunately
I live in southern NH and I say the same thing about Manchester, how’s your back doing? Merry Christmas
I’m wondering do you still have any of your s10’s . Nice video watching from new brunswick canada
Thats intersection in mancheser to get on 293 is the worst. Great video
Babe wake up a rural vermonter just posted
As an English man who's had at least 30 diesel cars and vans , when they have trouble starting like that its far easier just replacing all glow plugs . Obviously weather does make a difference .
Weird to see no snow for Vermont this time of year…climate change or it’ll come eventually 🤔
Always cool vids!👍👍
When you’re doing a cold start,as you start, hold the fuel pedal to the floor until it fires. Should really help.
I wonder if all the glow plugs are working? Sure doesn't sound like it
Merry Christmas RV!!!!!!!
I see you selling the 3500 that's to bad I in joy watching the videos on that truck
HD trucks usually DON'T have glow plugs... you need a block heater & keep it plugged in in the cold!
that semi is sweet
Glad to see you up and moving pain free! Im assuming you had a discectomy? If so def take it easy for at least 6-8 months which I know is easier said then done but not worth reinjury....
You must love 💘 your sisters. Thank God you only have two of them.
The FIRST thing you need to add is a CB.
Did not think she was gonna start😂😂😂
Get a snatch block for your winch, then you can double the cable back and use it to pull vehicles off your trailer.
Smart
get a can of either to start your truck when cold. ask for either or starting fluid. ur truck will start a lot easier that way. you almost ran out of battery.
It was painful to watch
If you try to use starting fluid on a glow plug equipped engine, you can have quite the intake manifold explosion.
Yea I don’t like using ether if I don’t have to
@@duncanmacrae6384a couple squirts will never do anything of the sort
Love the videos but if I could please just make a suggestion,if Could you please do a video of you handling title info and transfer
Jeez. I thought that truck was going to blow up while you were trying to start it around 9:45
Wow! How do you know how to drive that big tow truck and every thing so young??
Cant believe you got rid of the jeep figured youd keep that for a while
LOL the Subaru won't go but that is good since it won't stop either.....
Not the Toyota sienna 😭
Thanks for the new video
Quite the adventure, indeed.
Beetle is a good dog
A lot of work, time, and fuel to make a few bucks. I probably would've called the local scrap vehicle pickup guy on each of those shit boxes and found a better use of my days.
I think the Jeep runs the best out of them all, but looks the worst.
9:00, your big truck doesn’t like the cold.
My aunt and sister are vehicle killers it's insane what they do to cars I don't understand it
great ;video...
Hopefully you will get a bit of money for those 2 vehicles wherever you are going to take them
I bet the Toyota van only has scrap value with all it damage and likely more rust out damage. The Subaru may be fixable if not rusted out. The Jeep will be some farmer's vehicle or someone beating it up off road.
How is your back ? hope you are doing good
Why did the loader not just pick it up with the forks???? That hurt to watch
I think you might be losing your prime on your fuel because it should start quite a bit easier than that.
or the fuel might be jellin. Addtive always help.. But in you had a place to plug in that would help to just my 2 cents
its a glow plug issue cuz diesels use their fuel flow to control the rpm. if there was air in the system it wouldn't rev up and it would stall.
2 👍👍 up bro stay safe out there 🤞🥾🇺🇸🍼🐶🐕🦴🍗🍀🚛
1:36 damn!!! 1.1M miles
Im sure i missed it but do need a CDL for that truck? and how hard was it to obtain haha
Yes, took me about a month
Dunno whats wrong with your Volvo , mine was a 2005 model with 2 million kms on her and never gave me those problems . I had gel batteries . I think you need new glow plugs

I think your truck sounds pretty worn out
You're the best youtuber
14:03 Kachow!
Are you going to haul cars for a living?
nope
You need to build some proper ramps before someone gets hurt.
That Volvo's lifespan is about to come to an halt, you better flip it before it breaks down or it's gonna break your wallet bro. The starter on these are very expensive and labour charges are out the world. Better get something with half million mile truck like that.
How the does one snap a control arm? Jumped a curb at speed? Lol
hit a lot of potholes i geuss!
Potholes plus women drivers egual all kinds of disasters! 🤣
