Tappet gaps for Land Rover Defender & Discovery 200 & 300TDi

Doing the tappet gaps on a land rover isn't that hard you will need a new gasket kit and a DTi gauge but it can be done in about 30minutes.

The fuel filter is in a different place to mine on my 300.

I've never used that gauge and don't know anything about it. I am ordering one now though bc it looked so easy... So, How did you know what value should be at each valve? You stopped at .845 on 8, then on 7 it was .817.. , 6 was .893

Ok, now I think I get it, you sent the gauge and stop it at its highest point

Hi Wolvie Xavier don't worry too much about the value of the dial indicator I'm just using it to check the lowest point as the valve opens. I'm looking for the reading to increase then come to a brief stop then go back the other way it's like a sin wave that brief stop is the lobe on the cam holding the valve open. That's when you stop turning the crank. Hope that helps a little.
