i have seen people punch the filter so it empties out from the puncture. then it is cleaner removal with most of the oil drained out.

It's a good idea to fill your oil filter if you can, however it's pretty pointless if your filter sits sideways as it'll all glug out before you get it fitted properly!....How's the Series going these days?
That’s very true. Since I had to tip this oil filter over a little. I filled it up only 3/4 full. So not to spill any. Oil is expensive these days!!
We finished my son’s 73 VW Super Beetle project. Now I have time to work on the Series truck. After sitting for almost 10 months it started right up. Hope all is well with you!

The oil filter is in a more difficult position on the diesel than on the v8 gas and no valves to adjust
You are correct. The V8’s are in a better position.

where did you get the 200tdi from?
Also since the 200tdi is a bit vintage these days, check/replace lash caps on top of the valves, under the rockers. they can wear to the point of going missing!!

That is true. Imported from Spain. Excellent point about the valve caps. One of the reasons I checked the valve clearance to see if there’s any crazy changes. I have owned the vehicle for about a year and half and it has a broken odometer. So mileage is unknown but engine seems to be taken care of nicely. Runs great!
