      right? I felt so sorry and so sad for him ;-;
      I'm happy he finally realized that, even thought he did what he did when he was the winter soldier, he didn't have a choice and he wasn't his fault, that he was just another victim

      and then they fucking cut the scene. don’t get me wrong, sams hero speech was important, but not important enough to take away just 30 seconds to see his reaction

      @@nomournersnofunerals That's what bothered me about the series tho. It never once acknowledged Bucky was a victim. Everything, including Sam was saying he had to "put in the work" to "pull himself out" of his personal hell- as though it was self-inflicted or something. As though he chose what he did with HYDRA and was complicit. Since when did a victim have to make amends to other victims? It doesn't make sense. To me the whole thing seemed very victim-blamey.

    I think Bucky had the greatest journey in the movies/series. He certainly lost the most, gained the most and changed the most. I've always been more drawn to Bucky and to Daniel Sousa because of my Great Uncle's WW2 experience and how it changed him

    • @nomournersnofunerals
      @nomournersnofunerals  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      OMG Sousa, I LOVED Daniel Sousa (I still have to watch the last seasons of "Agents of Shield", but I adored him in "Agent Carter"), is like the most beautiful human being that I ever saw 😭
      I think it's funny how they make a very similiar journey (minus, the hydra part for sousa ofc), going trough one of the most horrific time period that modern history ever had, and then finding themselves in a future they don't really know, but are willing to embrace.
      All of this while remaning kind, which is A LOT after everything they'd been through
      God, I just love them so much 💖

    Bucky seeing his new arm and asking where the fight is really does a number. it shows he wasn’t just saying there’s always a fight because he’s only ever been at war. it’s because it continues to be true. he’s almost numb to it when he asks the question

      I still suspect some of them are a bit random lol

    • @nomournersnofunerals
      @nomournersnofunerals  3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@IdkIdc-tw9ct you know, your'e kinda right, hahahah
      I mean, probably these words have a personal, deep meaning, otherwise they wouldn't be such a trigger to bucky, but nor the movies nor the comics (in which I think they never appear) give us an explanation for them. I don't think they are random, but I truly doubt that they all mean what I've shown in my video. They were mostly my interpretation c:
      Fun fact: it took me more for doing that part than the entire edit 😂
      I think the only ones whose meaning is more easy to find are "homecoming" (that was kinda explained with that scene in tfatws), "seventeen" (which could also be a reference to bucky being the seventeenth person to be experiment on by hydra with the super soldier serum, and the first to survive, hence "one") and "feight car" (this is kinda obvious). For the rest, well, I decided to go with a more "poetic" explanation 💖
      The number combination surprised me too while I was working with this, and was one of the reasons I choose to put a meaning behind the words in the first place 🥰

      I think the last we saw of Bucky was right before he went off to the military. When Bucky sees Steve again, Bucky is a different person. It's just that in the first Captain America movie, I was so excited to see Bucky's face when he saw that Steve was different! Steve was Captain America!?! But now that I understand the timeline....Bucky is not the same anymore. Going back it's obvious. Bucky was strapped onto the table, the green light. I really missed that GREEN light the first time. He even asked Steve if the serum was permanent? He can't flirt anymore. (Okay, I know. Peggy and Steve were flirting with each other. I know. That is their cute love story. Not taking that away from them.)
      But Bucky was already traumatized at that point. Much MUCH later, in Captain America The Winter Soldier, Steve figures it out. That Bucky survived the train accident fall, because he was already experimented upon. Imagine realizing that the memory was different. But I guess as part of the audience who hasn't read all of the comic books....There it is. I'm sad. This vid was awesome!!

    Sam telling Bucky that the shield had nothing to do with him actually makes me mad. The shield means more to Bucky than it ever meant to Sam, because of who held it.

    • @nomournersnofunerals
      @nomournersnofunerals  3 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      I understand completely! If I have to be honest, I have to say that that scene really hurt me, but I think it's nice to see the character development both sam & bucky had after it.
      I think it was essential to their relationship, they started not trusting each others, with the only thing in common being their friend who now is gone, and ended up as really good partners, who can rely on each others (even though, for me, the bond between steve & bucky will always be unreplaceable, and endgame!steve is not my steve).
      In the end bucky understood why sam felt like he had to gave up the shield and sam got why that shield meant so much to bucky 💖
      When bucky said "that shield's the closest thing I've got left to a family, so when you retired it, it made me feel like I had nothing left" I admit I kinda cried 😭
      he still loves steve so much, OMG

      I saw a lot of tumblr and twitter stans going so hard on Bucky for not understanding the issue with racism and stuff, and honestly, I didn't see how Bucky's acting had anything to do with him not understanding Sam's position with the color of his skin. I felt like for Bucky it was never about that, it was about the shield specifically, and hardcore fans had to make it out to be something it's not.
      It's upsetting how little "closure" or "peace" Bucky actually got in the end. A finished book doesn't heal all the things he had to go through, and I really expected them to delve deeper. Sam's atitude had me a bit annoyed as well. Their little talk is supposed to be the turning point, but it was average at best.
      Sam might have spent more time with Steve in the "future", but Steve and Bucky had long history, I mean, I don't even have to list everything. And for the sake of my own poor heart, I'm not going to mention Endgame Steve.
      And then Isiah really riled me up. I get it, he had to go through messed up stuff too. But that doesn't give him any right to scream at Bucky, make him feel like shit and most of all, accuse him of having it better or whatever. Everybody can choose who they are (with some exceptions of course).

    • @nomournersnofunerals

      @@DeeFightingDreamer I think that there are many problems with the show, and most of them are due to the fact that they basically divided a standard marvel movie in 6 episodes, which doesn't work if you want to focus on someone characterization (unlike they did with wanda in wandavision).
      The show is about sam and bucky, but ironically, neither sam nor bucky are the true protagonists of it, the struggle they have to face is. This doesn't allow us, the audience, to really undestand some of their actions or their feelings, and in the end we don’t have a sense of satisfaction or “happy ending”.
      Even if we don't take the shield into account, many people don't realize that bucky was born in 1917, which wasn't exactly a time in which you would discuss all the problematic issues that were (and unfortunatelly sometimes still are) present in our world. Yes, you can say that now being so “ignorant” can’t be an excuse, but people need to understand that bucky is a deeply traumatized man who didn’t had all that free time to educated himself on this subject 🙄
      He apologized saying that, as a white man he couldn't see the privilege he had, and I think this shows a lot what kind of man is bucky. Even Sam understood this.
      I can’t speak for Sam's attitude, because I’m white, but I think it‘s mostly justified if you think that they really didn't know each other before the show, and the "link" between them, steve (who should be the one to blame for the shield thing) was gone. Sam didn't understand the importance of the shield for bucky, because I don't think he truly realized the bond between Steve and Bucky, but at the same time, Bucky, as a white man, couldn't understand the pressure Sam was feeling taking Steve’s place.
      In the end this brought them together, but they still have a looooong journey ahead of them.
      I'm not going to say anything about endgame!steve because he's not my steve and they ruined him.
      Regarding Isiah, he is still deeply traumatized, as it is normal considering what he'd been through. He suffered for so long and never got a closure, and I think he was also afraid of bucky when he saw him in his house (hence why he acted that way, I mean, he was scared of the winter soldier because he had faced him before so he put on a brave face). I feel that the anger and the resentment are mostly due to the fact that they gave bucky a chance (who did a lot of horrible things even if he wasn’t in control of course), but not to him because he’s black.
      I also think he needs a lot of therapy, but maybe not from bucky's therapist, I can't stand her.
      Also, I think some people on twitter should calm down and go for a nice walk outside, because they clearly want to fight over nothing most of the time (I'm on twitter too, so sometimes I just roll my eyes and let go).
      sorry for the english, is not my first language.

    Sam and Bucky had two different connections to the shield. For Bucky it represented family, for Sam it represented what this country should be but still isn’t. They both had valid connections to the shield but they both had to develop a new relationship with it in order to move forward in the next chapters of their life. The character development in this series, especially for Bucky, is so important and moving. I think we all felt it hard when Bucky said that line that ended with him stating that maybe Steve was wrong about him, but it was so great to see him smile later on even after taking on the hardest move yet, which was having to tell Mr. Nakajima that he was the one who killed his son.

    I hate how the series not just wasted Bucky but also really treated the only character in the MCU who is canonically represented as having PTSD in a way that is actually horrifically offensive to trauma victims.
    It literally
    - Doesn't acknowledge how he was victimized.
    - Pretends that Sam and Isaiah had it worse because of thier skin colour when Bucky was worse than a slave for 70 years.
    - Pretends Bucky is lucky and priveleged because he's not being incarcerated for life over crimes that he litrerally wasn't responsible for and had no choice in committing.
    - Victim blames him by making out he was a willing participant in HYDRA's crimes and he is responsible for making right *what they did*. This is literally on the level of making a holocaust survivor apologize for the Nazis crimes to other genocide survivors.
    - Treats people with PTSD, POWS and white vets who were abused as though they are somehow at fault and need to pay for what they did.
    - Treats PTSD as just some sickness which can be instantly cured by "trying harder" or "being better" or some such nonsense.

      @@nomournersnofunerals What makes it even worse is the showrunners of FaTWS then had the audacity to say they hoped trauma victims felt fairly represented in what they did with Bucky.
      *No we do not*. Its disgusting.
