Something about sardines that merits mentioning is that fish get their omega3s from eating algae or eating smaller fish that eat algae. If you buy farm raised fish they are likely fed corn and therefore have no omega3 content.
Thoroughly enjoyed the series. Thank you for documenting your journey!!!!! I’m very new to this regime but am already feeling extremely well. Not hungry at all (in fact I’m finding it “strange” to not be eating 🤪). I already have severe food allergies (especially grains [except…. I thought], wheat), which gave me the excuse to consume vast amounts of it (though I also cannot eat breads due to yeast allergy). Along with a whole lot of allergies to additives, preservatives, means I avoid a lot of foods anyhow. But the most difficult part is not eating many vegetables… as these are my go-to. I have 5-8kg that I want to lose, and last year I was diagnosed (mildly) pre-diabetic……..so this is something else I’d like to improve. I don’t eat sugar, so something else must be messing me up…. Maybe it’s the been the carbs all along👍👍👍👍👍
I agree, a generous first start. I love that she is teaching about fat carbs. love to see a look at inflammatory ingredients in processed stuff. Next step, it to move away from processed foods and maximum nutrient-dense products.

THANK YOU for the shopping trip. I learned so much listening to you two thinking of what will be eaten and not throwing weird food in the cart. Can't wait to learn more on how the family liked it. I have been keto 8 months with husband tagging along most of the time. What I like is it really works.
I just started following you and have been off an on the keto diet for a while and trying to get back on it! I have to say this is one of my most favorite group of videos with you and your sister-in-law! I think her journey will help many people! I am looking forward to see how her body transforms during her time that she is on the initial three months journey.I know this will be a lifetime change!
Yep, thatʻs what I did in 2016 and 2017. In 2016 it was the grains. 2017, the sugars and fruits. I seriously donʻt think I could have done both the grains AND sugars all at the same time. I had a year to go grain-free first and adapt my body to that. Iʻve stayed keto since July 2017. It was a big adjustment at first, but I stuck it out and Iʻm so glad I did.
It's a process of weaning off, isn't it? I think each person's journey is different. I weaned off sugar before I weaned off multigrain bread and rice pastas. I thank the pandemic for that, to be honest. I'm at a point, now, where I'm finally ready to do 100% Keto. It's taken me almost a year to get here.
It is difficult to get off everything at once !! How does your diet look like now,Susan ? Doing veggies? Any fruits? Maintenance or still on a losing weight plan ??..
The 2nd best thing about the Keto Diet besides losing weight is the reduction in hunger. If I ate as much meat and cheese as I used to eat food overall I wouldn’t be able to. After a while you just eat less because when your brain thinks “snack” there’s nothing to eat except meat and cheese and sauces with nothing to put the sauce on. But it works.
When I went keto, 1 was no snacking outside of meals. 2 clean breakfasts 3 clean lunches 4 clean suppers 5 shorten eating window 6 add more time fasting.
Great episode. Thank you for sharing. Great way to see how we start on Keto. In my progression, I removed most of food containing labels (the challenge is different to find the correct info on the Cronometer app or the Eat This Much app). Labelling for carbs and sugars can be rounded down to zero or to a single number. Normally we don’t eat one serving and those hidden carbs add up without knowing. Your episodes are great to show a lot of us how to make it happen. You have gone a ate further with it. Thank you again for sharing

I think because when you are beginning you want to limit those due to being fairly easy to overdo. If you look at the page 4 diet by Dr westfal it limits to maybe 1/4 cup.
why not green veggies? because they do have carbs, indigestible fiber, very little bioavailable vitamins, and cause a lot of sensitivity issues and inflammation for a lot of people.

A lot of folks shy awake from milk because of the sugars..I'm here to tell you, when you're keto and your sugar is lower than you're used to and your energy is lagging and your hands are shaky, that small glass of milk will save your butt. It's just the right amount of sugar and **minerals** to boost you right back up to feeling normal. I kid you not. I have mineral supps, they will work for minerals, but they don't raise my glucose when I need it raised just a touch... milk does the job. Diabetics know to drink milk if they're crashing for the same reason. Lactose is a fast-acting sugar, but it's not over the top sweet. It's just enough. This does not mean go nuts and drink gallons of it. It has hormones and is designed to grow things. I'm talking medicinal amounts of full fat milk. Never more than a cup, for me.
Why don't you restrict whole milk? it contains about 5 g of sugar per 100 ml. So, a glass of milk gives 10 g of pure sugar into blood immidiately. But if a person normally drinks a cup of 350 ml... And likes to have several of them during a day time...
Worrying about the meet sticks or other cold meets, and bacon, is the nitrites. And the salt. Why don’t you care about salt? We eat way too much industrial salt (compared to real salt) and some of us with salt sensitive hypertension (aka high aldosterone) should limit salt to 1.5mg salt. So I get by just seasoning with black pepper, garlic powder, herbs, lime or lemon juice and maybe dried yeast. But it makes the shopping harder. So my question is, does keto fix high aldosterone production or am I stuck with that?
i have another question I hope you can help...i just got your book (Keto Continuum), just started reading....in regards to eating fat, low carbs and protein...right now i eat low carb veggies...if I am to only eat 20 grams of carbs...how many grams of protein do i eat...and how many grams of healthy fats do i eat....for now i am eating less veggies...2-3 eggs for protein....and avocado and goat cheese for fats....can you explain the amounts of grams for each category.. Hi, I have been buying almond unsweetened milk because I thought milk wasn’t keto??? What was the ratio in terms of carbs and sugar in the milk you bought? Say per 250 mls?
@@legaleagleandpaws8198 Sure 🌼 - 1 egg or 2 egg yolks (more protein with white, but more creamy with only yolks) - 1dl/0.4cup oil (I prefer the flavour of a mild virgin olive or avocado oil, but most like a neutral style oil, I am odd in this regard) - A nip of salt to taste - 1 teaspoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar - a little white pepper Example of seasoning: 1 teaspoon dijon mustard (if you can find low carb one), make your own mustard, a tad garlic, finely chopped herbs like chives, some hot chili sauce, or lemon zest. First make sure all the ingredients have the same temp or the emulsion will split (room temp or fridge). Use a tall narrow container, dump all the ingredients in at one go, use your hand mixer and give it a good blend, then start to swoosh it around a bit, this will take seconds. Done! It will keep for like a week in the refrigerator. And yes you can up the recipe and make bigger quantities. Also if you want it thicker just add a little more oil.
I find the USA food labelling so annoying as they give nutrients per serving rounded to the nearest gram, which is totally arbitrary and at low levels gives enormous rounding errors. Everywhere else in the world it will give nutrition per 100g to the 0.1g so you can see exactly how much you are gonna eat.
Something about sardines that merits mentioning is that fish get their omega3s from eating algae or eating smaller fish that eat algae. If you buy farm raised fish they are likely fed corn and therefore have no omega3 content.

What can you do when pork is off the lists?
Hi, I have been buying almond unsweetened milk because I thought milk wasn’t keto??? What was the ratio in terms of carbs and sugar in the milk you bought? Say per 250 mls?
Why no lemons or limes?
Where are the eggs?
Just make your own mayo... Def so much more yummy, and you can control everything your self. Simple. 💗

Sure 🌼
- 1 egg or 2 egg yolks (more protein with white, but more creamy with only yolks)
- 1dl/0.4cup oil (I prefer the flavour of a mild virgin olive or avocado oil, but most like a neutral style oil, I am odd in this regard)
- A nip of salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
- a little white pepper
Example of seasoning: 1 teaspoon dijon mustard (if you can find low carb one), make your own mustard, a tad garlic, finely chopped herbs like chives, some hot chili sauce, or lemon zest.
@@foxnoxness4989 Thanks so much! One question what is "1dl/0.4cup oil " in English:)
Why the whole milk? For the kids?
Salt ! Use Celtic! Not this poison table salt !
Dextrose, cornstarch foods??! Ugggg
