Here's a different cut of Frances The Mute from The Catalyst. I felt like this track is good enough to get uploaded separate from the rest of the show.
    Source:
Videos: Joe Rose, Mike Sheffer, pink665, ezekielthemute, Robert Bermudez
    Audio: Robin Cunningham
Sync & edits by Korey Goble

If you have footage of The Mars Volta sitting on an old hard drive and would like to see it properly archived and released contact us at themarbleshrine@gmail.com. Even if the audio isn’t the best we’d love to see it. We may have audio from another source that we can sync it with.

This song is the Mars Volta grail. Would've lost my sh-t if I was lucky enough to catch this live in person.

I saw this performed in Melbourne 2004 - 2005 I think. I hadn't heard this song before the live performance, simply blew my mind. Shame it didn't make the album.

@@moonbasemonkmode441i was so hooked on the actual album (just the regular old US release) when it came out, which I later learned had these lyrics in the liner though I lost my CD booklet early on, but yea I also remember when I first heard this song. A friend had ripped a copy of it, I think from the widow single? we were MINDBLOWN. The band already felt super out there and mysterious to me in high school, and the actual title track NOT being on the album I had was wild haha. Plus the song… just amazing. The whole sorta free meter thing towards the end of the song, then how it just explodes into that final section… ugh… it still hits me haha

Frances the mute was one of the songs due to which my love with Mars Volta began and does not end. incredible live performance! I would give a lot to see this, only in ProShot with perfect audio especially the vocals because Cedric is incredibly good here!

The tease to find the best song on the album, released as a single iirc. At least they gave it away as freebie for buying the album at Best Buy. Bought 4 that day.

Blake was a perfect drummer for Mars Volta, his original group was amazing and that’s why Omar and Cedric wanted to start a band like his and have him playing drums with them. He is super creative and laid the foundation of what the Volta drummer standard is. Jon was an absolute upgrade for the sake of band chemistry and being able to bring Flemings creative and technical ability with some extra bombast. Blake was great and important in the Volta story

As I remember, it is the unreleased title track (Frances The Mute) of the 2005 album Frances The Mute. Not sure why they decided to not release it with the album, eventually it came out in a DVD I think, but it was never released as a single or as part of the FtM album itself, only as a bonus track in some live DVD.
