    I've worked in printing as a full colour offset litho printer since leaving college 30+ years ago I worked my way up as a no1 but never touched screen printing cause of the mess and all the chemicals I've been involved with the biggest blue-chip companies in the UK and I enjoyed every day on the large offsets its hard work but very rewarding so I advize on going into print if you enjoy arts and mechanical minded but not for the colour blind as you haven't a chance of colour work on anything.

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We feel if you are using halogen light, the exposure time is around 10 - 15 minutes. For ideal result you should use UV lamp for the exposure. If you don't have UV lamp setup, you may try to expose under the sun, just like the demo from our video.

      You can get UV LED too. It's UV light that sets the emulsion. With a decent LED your curing time is just a few seconds. Better make a wooden box to use for your exposures though, so you don't take UV yourself. You can also buy these.

    The last emulsion coating should always be on the opposite side of the printing area, that way you will avoid bumps on the emulsion coating hiting your squeegee. everything else is just top notch, congrats

      I use a regular rubber adhesive, meant for carpenters, with one coat on the frame and one on the screen. Rubber has the property of cold weld. meaning it almost fuses with it self (on coming in the contact of another rubber layer).It is also water proof and renders it self solvent proof, on curing by little heat.

    I'm struggling with the emulsion, burning, and washout process process.. I use pre sensitized emulsion and burn for about 7-12 minutes but every time I go to washout my screen.. (In the shower, with a standard shower head) my image appears very slowly and as I try to wash out the emulsion from the blocked out areas the image starts to blow out and then it ruins the whole thing.. Is it my shower head that's causing the problem or am I going about it wrong from the whole emulsion burning process?? Please send HELP! THANK YOU! ALSO do you recommend any affordable inkjet printers that are good for printing on water proof inkjet transparent paper? Anybody have any suggestions??? I'm only 19, and I'm still getting into this business but I want to learn! Thank y'all.

      We think you should find UV lamp for exposure. This is the light source special for exposure screen. If you cannot find UV lamp, then you may expose your screen under sunny day. The exposure time is within 5 minutes in sunny day.
      Besides you may use photocopy machine or laser jet to print your image on tracing paper. You should print 2 same image and paste them together. Please see our video again to see how to prepare your image artwork.
      We hope this information can help you.

What I'm looking is to transfer an image over a terrain model which is made by CNC by using digital elevation model. I guest I should use a photo emulsion cover onto this irregular surface, print the image over a transparent material (glass or pvc) then put over the terrain model and expose under 500w halogen or something like this. Does it work? Do you have ant suggestion for me to find a proper way to do? Best regards.

    It either did Not work or It broke off while washing off. WHat am I doing Wrong??????

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please see our video again. You should use some clamps to tight up the glass and spongee base board. By this way, the artwork film touch the screen firmly, this is like a vacuum situation. Then the sun light cannot go inside the black area of the film. After exposure, you can wash out the un-exposured area of your image. We hope this explanation is clear and can help you.

    Hi. Thans for you video. Do you use a simple emulsion or it's a special emulsion to work with Diaso ?

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In our video, we was using the most simple emulsion. There are different kind of emulsion in the market. But they are all should mix with dissolved diazo liquid. The mixing method is the same.

    I have a problem.. after I burn the image and washed very strong by water and every thing okk.. when I applied the colour and start printing the colour won't come out from the other side and print on the material.. could you please solve this issue
    thanks in advance

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your artwork film should be in totally black colour, this can blocked the UV light during exposure. You should have UV lamp for exposure. If you don't have UV lamp, you may expose your screen under sun light outside.

    I like how you stretch the screen over the frames. Its really clever.
    I used to have a diy 3 platen line table press when I had my setup in my garage. It was so much better than having a rotary press. It was incredibly cheap and really easy to build, took up much less space and I had the ability to accurately print as many colors as needed. It's a great, low cost solution for people who are thinking of getting into the screen printing biz.

    It gets a lot more difficult having to align it correctly if you have a design that contains more than one color.

    The glass that you are using, does it have to have a certain weight? Also Can I use the light bulb techniques instead of the sun light? I f so how long should I leave it under the light? Thanks

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your design has many details, you may use some clamps to press down the glass, just like our video. You may use your light bulb, maybe 20 minutes. We feel sun light is more efficient, we hope you have chance to try.

    does it matter if the printed image isn't as opaque for exposure and would it take longer to expose?

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The image on the transparency film, that should be as dark as possible. Your image film is used to block the UV light during exposure.

    • @francesco2332
      @francesco2332 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      okay thanks! I've just layered two of the same film together for a opaque outcome, which I'll try tonight. I've prepared the screens with one coat of emulsion on each side this time so it should be a good clear outcome this time. oh and I'm using a 500W flood light, any tips with that?
      thank you again!

    • @TSANGHANGLEUNG
      @TSANGHANGLEUNG  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are using UV light for the exposure. This is not depended on the brightness of the lamp. We feel exposure your screen under sunny day is very effective. Please try to use your lamp first anyway. You will get more experience by trying different kind of light source.
