- We used our vinyl cutter to cut vinyl stickers to act as a resist for our silkscreens. First we mirrorred the imagery in the software, cut the vinyl, and weeded the positive space out of the sticker before adhering it to transfer tape and then to the screen. Stays on forever even with multiple washings.

we used a silhouette. I wish I had learned this years ago. Holds up to multiple washings in sink too.

Boofy Stuff I use speedball non oil based ink. I use a heat gun to cure ink and dryer at home to set it.
Always good for a couple of shirts. The vinyl method.

What is a good brand for a vinyl cutter? One that will last without paying an arm and leg for it?
silhouette is the one I have and it is cheap and good.
How can you add glitter to the design, or what needs to be done so the glitter won’t fall off?

Before you actually apply the ink to your shirt, you need to lift the screen up an inch or two and pull the ink down the screen in one swoop. This ensures that all of the holes in the screen are wet and ready to go... It's called "flooding the screen".
After you lift the screen off of the fabric, after you've done the actual screen print, you need to flip the screen one more time to make sure it stays good and wet until you're ready to clean it. Otherwise the ink dries and good luck getting it out of the screen! (Unless you are using plastisol ink of course. 😉)
What kind of transfer tape is that i tried the clear cricut transfer tape but it wont let the vynle stick to screen too strong
i would sometimes pass the transparent tape on my shirt so that it could pick up some of the lint and folicles so it would decrease the glue works so the mask doesnt stay stuck or hard to remove from the transparent mask

What type of screen do you use and where do you get it?
I just use silkscreen ordered fro amazon. Super cheap too. I then stretch it over wooden stretcher bars normally used for canvas paintings. These are super cheap as well. Just like stretching a canvas for painting, but using silk screen instead.

Bonnie87 yes. Waaay faster too. Vinyl stays stuck to silkscreen even after washing.
Yes, this is how I've been screenprinting for years! Just be really careful when you rinse out the ink...and don't use hot water as it will dissolve the adhesive and your vinyl will come loose and your stencil will be ruined. And be extra careful with the really small pieces. I love this method! Been good to me for some years now.

I was thinking of trying this method for 1 offs and really small runs. I've heard a debate...vinyl inside on top, or outside on bottom. Pros and cons to both. With water base inks you should get a few shirts. Once you use emulsion a few times, it gets easy and is way more stable then using vinyl...but just for something to do...give it a try :)

@@jasonenz4238 -- I would imagine the vinyl on the bottom would working better as you're not dragging the ink/blade over it and having any issues with the vinyl peeling.

Aircooled Tech that's where it's debatable. Your dragging ink over the adhesive and apparently the ink gets between the screen and the adhesive, and the vinyl starts lifting...especially the edges of the design.
I'll stick with emulsion...I can wash the screen and not hurt the stencil and keep the screen for future prints. It's really not that hard. All the cutting and weeding is gonna take way longer (not counting drying times, which aren't that long) then just coating a screen...for me anyway lol.
Small learning curve but if you try it, you'll get better prints :)

totally durable. We heat set it in dryer on hot for 15 min. to make it super permanent.

I use speedball screen printing ink. NOT the kind that says "water soluble" on the side but it is water based printing ink.

I get the "teachers teaching kids the basics" thing.
However, as a printer and admin of a Q&A group for beginners with 12,000 members but I sincerely hope that the class ends with "... this isn't really how it's done. This is just a craft method."
This questions answered in our group are basically fixing the issues created here.
I will admit, I do not know the true nature of this video. Could be a weekend crafter thing or it could be a crafter/art class,. I truly hope it isn't more than that as that would only be a diservice to the students. Also hope there was no charge for this. ;)
Isn't it better for the students to learn a simple technique than to not?
Instead of blabbering about how they did it wrong, would you be willing to go to their classroom and teach them for free?

Una maestra de escuela eseñandole a sus estudiantes esta manera simple y efectiva y en ves de ayudar, ambos solamente critican.
@@mini_worx pues es la verdad.. yo soy serigrafista y enseño serigrafia. Y esto para mi no sirve. Solo es una opinion muy valida. Por eso se puede opinar. Para eso esta el espacio.
@@lionzion653 -- yo entiendo que en realidad es un arte y la mano de obra es muy importante, pero como vierón en el video, esto es solo una clase de escuela superior.
Me imagino que la maestra no es una serigrafista, ni piensa que sus entudiantes van a empezar una empresa de ventas de camisas. Esto es solo un proyecto de arte de la escuela.
Lo que no entiendo es el afan de querer criticar sin apoyar. Hace mucha falta maestras/escuelas como esta la cual eseña esto ya que no hay muchas.
Espero que los estudiantes, ya teniendole cariño al trabajo/arte, decidan en buscar mas información.
