TN, five states pause PG medical admission
Delay in Releasing Scores
Chennai: At least six states, including Tamil Nadu, have put post-graduate medical admissions on hold. This is because the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, which conducted NEET PG on Aug 11 and declared results on Aug 23, is yet to release individual scores of students.
The NEET PG 2024 was held on Aug 11 in two batches. The NBE, an autonomous body under the Union ministry of health and family welfare, normalised scores of candidates and declared percentile and ranks of students. “We have written to NBE seeking students’ scores. Without scores, it will be difficult for us to conduct counselling, particularly for in-service candidates,” said director of medical education Dr. J. Sangumani.
The state offers up to 30 marks as incentive to in-service candidates working in hilly regions and difficult terrains. Officials tried reverse calculations using percentile scores to calculate marks; however, they found it was not reliable. “We need students’ scores; else we cannot add incentive marks. We need the normalised scores,” he said.
Some candidates have approached Supreme Court, seeking transparency in NEET-PG results. “We are expecting to start counseling based on the verdict,” officials in the directorate said. At Centre, the medical counselling committee under DGHS started the NEET PG counselling registration process for round 1 but is yet to release the information bulletin that details the process, including the schedule.
However, officials from NBE said they have discussed the issue in detail with the National Medical Commission. “The normalisation process has been conducted. It is a very complicated process, based on which percentile and scores were arrived at. We will not be able to declare scores. Percentile and ranks are enough for admissions. Ranks show the order of merit,” the official from New Delhi said.
NMC officials said they have already announced the new guidelines for admissions. The postgraduate medical education regulations-2023 do not permit states to offer incentives for in-service candidates. “Instead, they must create a quota within the in-service quota to incentivise candidates from rural, hilly, or difficult terrains,” a senior official said. “Doing this will ensure merit in NEET is not compromised,” he said.
While it is yet to be ascertained whether it would benefit or affect candidates in rural areas, government doctors’ associations say NMC must not dictate terms on how admission should be conducted for state quota seats. “These matters were settled in court. It is unfair to bring it up again and change rules now. Many candidates have been working in hilly and difficult terrains expecting incentives. Seats in some specialties are so small that you can’t give quotas,” he said.

When the state government are saying this, don't teach me, state government should do normalisation themselves by
using rank,, percentile, and marks for in-service candidate
Percentile and rank are enough for their counselling
But the real thing is that students are getting crushed because of their politics between Bjp and non bjp governed state
Son's of opposition leaders and opposition supporters also do a lot of politics in Neet PG from beginning of exam
NMC also have reason to delay counseling as they taken money for increasing seats in colleges

If everything is transparent... Then why nbe not released pre and post normalized marks.....
This is not university exam.... Where marks doesn't matter, this is exam for admission, where each and every mark matter
Finally the conclusion was the second papper is very difficult. The levek of difficulty should be evaluated scientifically. Normalisation may give fruit full results in very higly compitive exams like this. Several factors will involve
1) Supose more no of very good score cadidates participated in second papper than in first papper definitely their sores will high even the papper is tough. Then the factor of normalisation for second papper decreases. Hence largely effects medium level candidates
2) judgement odf level of hardness with scores may not be always correct. 3) The level of difficulty of both pappers should be as near as possible then only the stistics of normalisation will be nearer to realistic.
3) If wrong questions/ doutful questions are more in one papper it obviously effects the results where normalisation is highly impossible.
4) Finally the level of candidates patricipating in both the pappers should be equal/as near as possible. ie if best scores r more in one papper it definitely effects normalistion. etc .......
5) its better to have single papper in exams like even 2 or 3 marks ( wright answeres) may effect a lot.

Incentive marks system is itself flawed in TN.. just have a separate in service quota and prepare merit list based on percentile

Aiq 50th Percentile people (eligible to participate in counselling) received a second score card which contains no. of correct and wrong answers .. so we can calculate our marks with it easily!
So they didn't need to specially give our score .. since we know the no. of correct and wrong answers . And scores are not really important in this exam .. but percentiles are since normalization was done using the AIIMS method.

That is not the case . The problem in the score card the marks we are getting after correct and incorrect response is not the actual marks. Since NMC has used normalization the marks we are getting after normalization is not published in the score card .

Its not tht easy, suppose u r giving bonus mks to in srvice based on that and the candidates appeared in both shifts.. Then normalisation is lost here, as argued which papr was tough and easy, this won't be fair method then. Q is how to include bonus in percentile... Mathematician needed

May be… sırf TCS ke centres pe exam honi thi isliye Bohot sare centres hataye gaye the isliye do shift mein li gayi exams .. Jaise taise centre pe exams conduct hoti thi.. centres hi bik jaate the … ye problem thi ..jaha tak mujhe pata hai .. because Bihar mein Gaya ko hata diya Gaya tha .. because waha TCS nahi tha .. Patna mein jaha ID zones the wahi wahi exams huye.. so that makes sense .. to stop any back door entry.
