  • When learning to work with humans some dogs have to be trained in how to behave. There is no better teacher than a fellow canine and this caring german shepherd loves nothing more than helping younger dogs to learn.

There are many kinds of pets that you can keep at home, such as dogs and cats, small animals like rabbits and hamsters, and even beetles and tropical fish. They may be different in size, but they all carry the same weight of life. Without the care of their owners, they cannot live a happy life. One of the benefits of owning a pet is that you can learn early on the responsibility of protecting and supporting life.😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻

Assimilated isn't always a dirty word. Maybe when it's being used to force genocide but with animals I simply mean when they've been hurt and cannot be released back into the wild. Acclimate is probably a better word.

I have a ‘pit bull’ here in NYC that is great at teaching young dogs how to behave. During the pandemic so many people got puppies, but don’t know how to get them to calm down which is a problem when the dog is fully grown but acts like a puppy. My boi is always calm - like Stan he never returns aggression - and after a few minutes with him the younger dogs mirror his demeanor. The praise and/or treats they get from their guardians when they calm down teaches them that this is the behaviour that gets the reward. If a young dog doesn’t calm down on its own my boi will growl and gnash his teeth but he never makes contact. My boi is a legend around here.

This looks great but there are some aggressive dogs types that will not stop where Zeus stops in his aggression. Many aggressive dogs will automatically get physical and do harm even with a muzzle on. Hence many dogs are trained by trainer and handler with desensitization and counter conditioning.
Stan is a very rare type of awesome dog (sensitive and extremely resilient all at the same time) that obviously wants to resolve conflict and aggression and does a good job at doing so. ❤️
I just hope this doesn’t give too many dog owners the idea that dogs can work it out for themselves because they cannot and should never. Even here, Stan’s owner/handler, a professional dog trainer is right there for each and every moment.

Handsome Stan-some! I’m curious if there is an element of fear to an aggressive dog’s behavior. I rescued a beautiful male sable shep, named Strarsky. He hated other dogs. I brought him home to initially foster and devised a plan. I kept starsky on a long lead and brought out my two Rotty girl mixes (Gretel and Bailey) to meet with him in my backyard. Naturally he attacked them and I held him back. Gretel took offense to his bullying and she bit him on his side. I didn’t allow him to retaliate. I did this for a week with declining hopes. One day I wasn’t paying attention and I left the back door open. I heard a scuffle on the back deck and discovered Strasky laying in his back and PLAYING with my two girls! I was shocked and came to realize that he trusted them and began to love on them. He was abused and never had a dog friend. The girls liked him too and the day came when I had to give him up for adoption and I felt the urge to cancel the planned adoption. I’ll never forget how sad and doubtful I was about my adoption commitment. I should have kept him. 💔🐕

He also policed the other dogs and some dogs don't like getting reprimanded by another dog! but he would never fight back. . I think maybe it's just a natural temperament of red shepherds??

My husky Kronos (Greek god of time. I called him god of park time 😋) did a similar thing. He was much more interested at the beginning & would try to assert his dominance but if the other dog was also dominant & said “that’s not okay” Kronos would leave if he/she basically behaved. He generally ignored everyone but he would let dogs know if they were too rough, less tolerant for an adult against a puppy, disabled, or elderly dog. Things were often much more subdued if he was close by. Kronos broke up 5 fights b4 us humans could get there 😁

Dog trainer here! - This training method is REALLY dangerous and you should never go to a dog trainer that does this! Not only is there a HUGE risk of a dog fight with the muzzled dog getting attacked by the "peace maker" dog, but this training method can also cause the "peace maker" to develop behavior issue because they are constantly having aggressive dogs charging up to them and attacking them.
I also want to point out that 2 of these dogs are missing parts, or all, of their tails. Where as I can't say that this is because of a dog attack, it's pretty suspicious to me as these breeds do not naturally have their tails docked.

Stan's tail was broken in two places with one break very close to his dock, so he had it amputated before I had him, on vets advice. Meda, the young malamute, broke her tail whilst in the litter before I had her. This isn't training by people, but it's educating by dogs, the true experts. And I agree that if you don't know what you're doing it can cause major stress to both the dog you're working with and equally as important, the Teaching Dog. Don't try this at home!
