This movie is a classic and would never have been made in our era. I can’t conceive of the FAA ever granting approval for anyone being on a live runway or the mayor allowing the use of public streets for dangerous chase scenes. Not to mention all of the homeless encampments along the streets of San Francisco that would have to be removed to shoot the movie. Politics and bureaucratic resistance tend to get in the way of visionary film makers.

Everyone already knows this was the coolest movie ever made, but finding out how and why is beyond cool.
I've seen this film many times. Never get tired of it.
