- Nearly every filming location from the Steve McQueen action film shot in San Francisco, CA. Big thanks to CitySleuth at reelsf.com/ who provided a few photos of some hard-to-get-to interiors.
I normally focus on movies shot in New York. For more info, go to: nycinfilm.com - บันเทิง
I watch alot of filming locations but this attention to details is second to none GREAT JOB!!!
Add applause for your use of music. Fabulous pacing.

Fantastic homage to the 1968 movie. The soundtrack is befitting of a modern-day remake if ever there is one. Good to see 90% of the locations still exist and are in good condition. Bullitt was one hell of a movie!
Bullitt cannot beremade. Modern youngsters couldn't understand it with a tutor at their sides... And besides, a car chase with silent Teslas is no fun to watch.
...followed by The French Connection.
It had a great twist at the end, which nobody saw coming.
This is one of the best "Then and Now" videos I've seen. No narration and even the music fit the movie!
Incredible video! I can’t imagine the amount of work it took to not only research the locations, but then to get the camera angles so perfect. And then the panning of the video in sync to match the original movie! Wow. Great editing. Very impressive work.
Thanks! It was a labor of love. Huge shout-out to CitySleuth at reelSF who helped me out with some of the hard-to-get-to interior locations. His website is great (link is in description).
That was pure time travel! Great that Frisco seems to have hardly changed, unlike some cities. They must look after it👌
@@iconicshrubbery: Well... Look at any video about its downtown these days. Very sad.
Great split screen, so many of the angles "camera view" were spot on. Nothing like a Steve McQueen movie.
I love these sorts of "passing of time" videos. I have actually done this with still photos, standing in the exact spot where the photo was taken and looking at the changes. It seems a bit more consoling when the changes have been minimal.
Fifty five years later, amazing how little has changed. Bound to still be Charger hubcaps lying about. Great job, thanks.
Amazing job. Love the split screen, and the attention to detail. 👏
Wow, this is like a film in itself and deserves an Oscar for all your hard work, can’t give you enough thumbs up 👍
4:06 - A great coincidence or excellent sound editing! 😃
Done on purpose.
The best one easily. Outstanding!
I lived on Sacramento St. across from the Grace Cathedral parking lot where the Mustang was frequenty parked. Thanks for bringing back the great memories.
Great job hitting the exact angles. Amazing how little has changed in 55 years...
Wow. My favorite San Francisco movie.... then and now. Thanks for creating this!
Great tribute to the late Steve McQueen also. Nice work
Many, many, thanks for a great visual retrospective of the definitive stoic detective film.. Bullitt. I went to undergrad just south of SF and visited many of the sites in the decade following the filming.
But to see these sites again, gives proof of the dynamic yet classic nature of SF.
Nicely done! Very enjoyable! Years ago I, pretty much, drove the chase scenes, jumping all over the City. Love the now and then comparisons on how much most locations have changed; but some have pretty much stayed the same. In the film I liked the editing on the final part of the chase scene on Guadalupe Canyon Parkway where, to extend it, it was shot going both up and down the road before the final crash. Of course you can't tell that in the movie. Thanks for making the video.
What dedication to finding and editing the movie locations. That's what I call professional devotion to your art! Thank you!
That was impressive, matching the filming locations to current day obviously took some time and you did it extremely well. Nicely done!
The year's roll by people change etc but buildings remain untouched by history as if it was still back in 1968 when buliit was first filmed great movie n a cool actor Steve McQueen... And the mustang fastback ❤👍✨😁
I saw Bullitt when I was in High School in Ohio, and I think I ended up in the Bay Area many years later partly because of that dang chase scene. This is the first time I've known the actual filming locations. Thanks so much for this amazing and very detailed video.
Great video! The BEST car chase ever put on film. A wonder no one was killed in the process. Steve was and still is the King of Cool!
More style and more class in the '60's!
Seriously… this is incredible work and as you mentioned, it’s a labor of love and wow, does it show in the details. You should be very proud! Thank you very much for this awesome video. McQueen was my deceased sister’s favorite so this means just a little more to me as I watch.
Incidentally, the Mustang sold for $3,740,000 at auction. Iconic.
There were at least 2 Mustangs used. One was a right-hand drive ....
This has to be the best then and now that I've seen. I like how the now picture so well aligns with the movie.
This one of my favourite movies and one of Steve McQueen's best. Thank you so much for posting this, and all the hard work that went into it.
My favorite line in the movie, "You sent us to guard the wrong man Mr. Chalmers."
Simply excellent. Very well done.
The scanning synchronization adds a level of correlation to the original film that makes it much easier to appreciate what was then and what is now.
I love any kind of then-and-now pictorials, especially movie locations as well as actual WWI and WWII battle locations. It would be great to see the techniques shown here used at some other locations.
In any case, great work. Very enjoyable.
Every single thing about this Then To Now documentary on this film was AWESOME 😎 EXCELLENT JOB 👍
Excellent work! It was also nice to see all the locations and not just the ones from the car chase. You lined all the shots up perfect. Well done!
Amazing detail. Really enjoyed this great work.
Really great. Not only was the creator able to FIND the locations but he was able to match the FRAMING to the original shot in the film! This is some great editing, too. It utilizes sequences from the original film to set up the comparison shots! Great work.
Outstanding job! The matches are fascinating, amazing how some details remain the same after so many years. Love this movie.
That green prius ugh my eyes hurt I lament the demise of the large American rwd sedan.
I see locations stuff all the time and have made some myself so I knw what goes into this stuff effort wise. This was fantastic, superb job dudes 👊
I loved the way you did the split screen. Well done!
Great editing, research and music. Not much has changed since the 60's in regards to roads and architecture. 👍
Yes, I would say San Fransisco is one of the most preserved cities in the USA.
Wow , terrific job. Kudos to you. I was born at SF General Hospital so it was neat to see the old/current shots of all the locations. San Fran such a beautiful place then and now. Fantastic job , thank you.
When I was in a theater watching this film for the first time, I almost fell off my movie seat during the chase up and down the hilly streets. I was blown away!
I was 10 years old when I saw this back in 68. So cool.
Great filming it's one of my favourite movies, nice to know that a lot of the locations don't look too different. ❤
Oh man o man I love the car and the chase ❤plus it is my favorite city 😅
Excellent attention to detail. this is not easy, well done
Fantastic work! Plus, it was fun to see Steve McQueen again in his prime.
This channel is great, salute!
I’ve a growing interest in film and TV filming locations, I’ve visited a lot of them in the UK.
This is a superb, quality, well edited film about the locations of an iconic film.
Thank you so much. I’ll be sharing this.
The research, effort, and time taken had produced a very impressive documentary. Well done!
One of the best location matching videos I've seen. Great work. Quite interesting how some spots have changed very little since 1968.
I watched them film many of the scenes of Bullitt and rode the bus around town to watch them film the movie.
I lived in SF for 18 years.
Was it a pretty known thing they were filming around town at the time? For were you just lucky?
@@gluecement Herb Caen whom I wound up knowing & being in his home years later mentioned where they would be filming in his column as he did for other movies filming later like Whats Up Doc, The Laughing Policeman, etc. We read his column every day in the Chronicle. Jack Rosenbaum would also cover events in his column in the Examiner. A lot of movies were filmed in SF in the late 1960s and 1970s
A great job - even lined the shots up the same - bravo! Having lived in the SF Bay Area I find it amazing how little has actually changed. The most change is in the waterfront shots - all those old wooden 20-40's buildings are demolished now, but that Safeway is still there! I remember that from the 60's - too tough to die, I guess. I wonder if that corner store that Mr. McQueen walks into has any idea of the movie heritage? Well, again. A great job.
Very , very cool , thanks for the effort
Great job. It was a great movie shot on location in the SF area. So this is a fun video. I like the retro look of the old motels/hotels (Thunderbird Motel at 10:20). They had character. Now all we have are concrete boxes with windows.
Brilliant, a lot of work to put this together. As a film buff/nerd I appreciate your efforts. Thanks.
Definitely the best one of these I’ve seen! Excellent work!
Grew up there, lived mainly in South San Francisco and Millbrae. Was a junior in high school in 1968. Watch this movie every few years just to go back in time!
Yeah, it's incredible on how much has remained the same in SF since the 1960s. I was amazed to discover that the Safeway was practically identical to what it looked like back when it first opened in '59.
Great video, I love this film
Excellent filming locations compilation! Super well done. I love the soundtrack. I wish I could make a spotify playlist of the tunes to find similar others but they're almost as hard to find as these filming locations! Great video work my friend! 💯👍
Loved steve mcqueen and robert vaughn. The cars in this movie are awesome.
HOT DAMN but Steve McQueen is cute 🥰😘 Love my San Francisco in 1968 🥰 Great video, love the updates 😁
Well done, the music takes me back to 1968.
This was very well done. One of my favorite movies.
One of the greatest movies ever made, thanks for posting this, it shows not much has changed with the locations, amazing that the food market is still there on the corner, most have just been modernised 🇬🇧
Awesome video 👏
Superb piece of 'before and after' - well done, supreme effort. 5 stars for a great film of its time
Excellent production, Love the funky 60's soundtrack.
This clip was genuinely amazing. Congratulations and well done! I travelled to San Francisco from Australia some years ago and tried to find some of these locations. I wish I had've seen this then. One of my all-time favourite movies. The car chase will never be bettered.
Fabulous work - thank you !
I prefer the split screen way of seeing how a location looked in the movie and how it looks today it gives you more time to see how much things changed or sometimes still look the same after fifty or sixty years great job.
Excellent work. Thank you.
Extremely well done - thank you!
Brilliantly done. Thank you
Excellent blend, thanks for posting.
Amazing video like watching the movie then and now. Music is fantastic too.
Amazing work on one of my favourite films. Loved the split screen, it gave it a very 1960s feel as well as showing the differencies/similarities of the old and new.
Awesome! Thanks for putting that together!
Great video ,but the music was AMAZING .It suited the video so much
Incredible work, thank you.
Superb work - well done!
Outstanding job on this. Many thanks.
The best then and now’ I have ever seen👏🏻
Absolutely brilliant video
At 8:02, the black Charger is turning right from 20th St onto Kansas St. When I was from 5 to 8 years old, we lived at 815 Kansas St., the old wood apartment building just to the left of the Charger's right side with the telephone pole blocking part of the building.
A huge amount of time doing this. Thank you.
Fantastic job on making this video! Love the music!
Impressive piece of work finding and re-creating the location shots. Bravo!
Great job on capturing these locations. 👍
Truly magnificent!!! Without doubt this is the best ever filming locations video I have ever watched. I loved the way it was put together with the spirit of the film in mind. Am now recommending it to my son. Thank you.
Excellent presentation. Amazing how little has changed. I figured that Safeway (which I shopped in 40 years ago) would have been long-gone by now.
Outstanding perspectives.. perfect great editing
Thanks for all the effort you put into to this. Great job, really enjoyed it 👍
Just awesome! One of the best I’ve ever seen. Great technique and results!
this is awesome, your work is spot on, cheers.
Great video! Really enjoyed that.
The attention to detail, the additional information provided, the shots themselves. This is amazing. Thank you for your time and your meticulous work!
One of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen. Awesome. THANKS!!!
You are a hero for making this - thank you!
Awesome job! The distances and angles are perfect. I’ve never seen one of these Then and Now videos that were so accurate. Great job and highly appreciated by us Bullit fans.
This needs some kind of award...amazing!
Thank you for this excellent content. Love the upper/lower image comparison format. Please keep up the good work.
Great production! One of my favorite films of all time and you did a bang up job!
