Monstera adansonii care and propagation (variegated)

  • In this video I share with you the full care of the monstera adansonii in a tropical climate setting. This is a very easy to grow houseplant with beautiful foliage that looks never the same. They do require a lot of light and very little water to survive. To thrive, they need a moss pole. I propagate my variegated adansonii (the non-variegated plant propagate the same exact way!). Watch and find out how many cuttings I didn’t kill :) I also show you the variegation details on this plant to illustrate how stunning and random they are. I also show you a tutorial on how to make a temporary moss pole that will be so beneficial for young epiphytic aroids!

    Everything grows better outdoors Or in greenhouse the real challenge is getting plants to grow indoors

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  ปีที่แล้ว

      The challenge is wintertime… but in normal tropical condition, I feel its the same indoor and out. In fact I had better control of plant care indoors. It depends on the person too.

    Wow your adansoniis are so lush and healthy! Mine is kind of leggy right now so I’ve started propagating and given it a moss pole.
    Do the leaves continue to grow with the plant? For example, if my adansonii grows a tiny, immature leaf without any holes, will that leaf remain small or will it eventually grow larger and have fenestrations?

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe leggy is due to lack of light. They like it brighter than most of us provide. Also yes their baby leaves start with no fenestrations but will do eventually 😀

    I propagated my adansonii in February and now I have soooo many babies. I have leaf propagated, stems in perlite, stems in a bag of water, in glasses... they all are sprouted and some in aroid mix already. They grow so fast I have a little anxiety thinking about how to pot it all. On top of that the mother is producing so much after the dramatic cut. I still have a narrow form to manage too.

      Oh they love empty and light ahha. The easiest way to kill them is overwatering. If your media is very porous, consider bottom watering them every 2-3 months because thats when you can really saturate the potting mix with water evenly.

      Yellowing is sign of too much water or not enough light. Or the combination of the two

    I have this plant and one stem has created 3 leaves and all of them are variegated... There are some root nodes are the bottom. I know nothing about plants other I love and water them. But I have to try creating a whole variegated plant. I'll bring on in water.

    I think Monstera Adansoni has really strong vitality. Even if you plant plastic yogurt bottles or small pot soil, they breed well. Thank you for the precious video.
