  • This all started by coming across the new Lululemon Tech Canvas Pants. They were billed as an alternative to jeans. I was looking for a better, alternative to jeans - something lighter, stretchier and more breathable. I ended up testing pants from Lululemon, Outlier, Myles, Hill City, Western Rise and English Laundry. They cost anywhere from $19.99 to $198 - yes 10x as much!!
    I think you'll be very surprised at the results! If you are in the market for the best jean alternative, I put them to the test in this video. You'll get our honest menswear review.
    Full Review here: wetried.it/meg...
    If you've thought about checking out the Outlier Slim Dungarees, the Lululemon Tech Canvas ABC Pants, the Everlane Performance Chinos, Western Rise Slim Rivet, the Hill City Everyday Pant, the Myles Tour Pant or even the English Laundry 365 pant - this review is for you!
    We review the best men's pants from a real guy - not some 6'4" model. I'm a dad of 2 kids just looking for the best products.
    Just for reference, I’m 5’9” and typically wear a size 32. All pants are true to size except for the Outlier pants. Those run very small (and super tight!)! Subscribe for more information on mens clothing reviews and mens fashion reviews!

    How do the outlier compare to the lululemon tech? I love the abc warpstream ones!

    Thanks for the great review / comparison. Unfortunately the English Laundry ones don't appear to be on Costco anymore, but they are available on Amazon at the moment at least (but with only 1 review).

      Costco’s in-store inventory is usually very different than their online inventory, just an FYI.

    I ordered a pair of the Everlane pants on the strength of this review, if I had paid more than the $28 on a sale color, I would be very disappointed with the quality. The waist especially, construction seems poor.

      Their main selling factor is probably as normal looking as it gets + four way stretch.

    are the english laundry true to size or down one because of the stretch? tia.

    • @WeTriedIt
      @WeTriedIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are fairly true to size. However, I've been getting a size smaller on really stretchy items because the give only gets greater over time.

    I really love English Laundry, the only problem I have with them is that the dark sapphire and graphite (black) colored pants fade to an ugly orange/brown color only after two or three washes :( but I agree, SUPER comfortable and affordable.

    Can you share the material composition of the Myles Apparel?

    • @WeTriedIt
      @WeTriedIt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Luke Fromowitz it’s actually 100% polyester. I was surprised. Just checked on my pants I own. They do not feel like they are 100% polyester.

    • @lukefromowitz4514
      @lukefromowitz4514 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We Tried It thanks for looking into that. Interesting to hear it’s not nylon. Usually they mirror olivers. Actually not sure olivers makeup either. Have you tried those? How do the tour pants compare to abc slim pants (non denim version)? Also did you find the English laundry to be baggy?

    • @WeTriedIt
      @WeTriedIt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lukefromowitz4514 Myles and olivers have changed up a bit. I really don't care for Nylon pants at all. I would actually go with the Tour Pants of the Standard ABC Pants - if you want something more jeans-like. The Tour Pants have a ton of stretch and are just really comfortable. English laundry wasn't baggy at all - at least the ones I tried.

      Nylon pants are the worst offender. The hill city ones were the worst of the group. Everlane Performance Chinos and English Laundry were the quietest. Lululemon was the best balance between technical and not swishy.

    Hey, I really just wanted to point out that the material is called ELASTANE (pronounced like E-LAST-IC) not ESTA-LANE. Love your video, but I cringed hard everytime you mispronounced such a common word in fabrics.

    • @tawaitai

      No it’s not pronounced E-Las-Tic it’s pronounced just like it’s spelled.

    • @jamesmerrill3903
      @jamesmerrill3903 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      tawaitai I didn’t say it was pronounced “e-las-tic”, you should read my comment again.

    • @tawaitai

      James Merrill (pronounced like E-LAS-TIC) am I missing something here??? pronounced (E-LAS-TANE)👍🏾

    • @jamesmerrill3903
      @jamesmerrill3903 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tawaitai yes, I said LIKE elastic, not pronounced E-LAS-TIC. I meant Elastane is derived from the root word Elastic, the original poster was calling it Estalane, so I was pointing out why the pronunciation was wrong, and where the fabric gets it’s name from.
