can't thank you enough for the kind words :) Yes I start my days early- and sometimes I do get a little cat nap here & there in the afternoons. And I try to sleep in on the weekends!
I really thought every reporter had a personal make-up artist, a hair stylist and a fashion stylist!! I think it's so cool that you guys make your own looks! xoxo
One thing I really like about you is thst you have a very open way about you. I mean your a TV anchor woman, probably a bit of a celebrity, but I love that you readily admit to the need to pluck daily in order to battle the unibrow. I think at times is so easy to see people on TV who look so perfect, and we compare ourselves to that ideal. I hope this makes sense...I guess I'm just saying thanks for being so real. You rock. :)
I am so glad I found you! I graduated in Dec with a bachelors of science in Mass Communications. Becoming a news anchor preferably an entertainment journalist. I would love to talk to you about how you got your start and some tips. I love this makeup! Gorgeous!
This is the best eye makeup tutorial ever. I bought the NYX Caviar & Bubbles on your recommendation from a previous video and love it. The colors are perfect. What more could you need. And the size is perfect for everyday and travel. I'll never buy one of those large hi-end palettes again. And now I have some new tips on how to apply. You also explained how to connect the bottom eyeliner to the wing so well. Thanks, Laurie
Wow, first time I heard you speak days ago, I felt there was something I really liked about you...spoke with poise, intelligence, professionalism. Now I know why....you're a news anchor. Love your videos!
I watch a lot of beauty guru's and a lot of them give great advice, but I seriously think I learned more in this video then I do in several videos from other guru's. You're great at explaining techniques and exactly how you apply your make-up. Thanks for being such a great teacher!
I don't usually watch super long videos, but this one had me totally consumed! Thanks for continuing to put out the best of the best beauty videos, you are so easy to watch and have such amazing tips and tricks. LOVE!
Hi Emily! After reading your blog I just had to tell you that I love your videos. I think that you and your tutorials are far from boring, I have watched many of them over and over. You have inspired me and given me so many great ideas. Keep up the great work. Thank you
Excellent video, Emily. I've been a makeup artist for thirty years; you hit all the bases! Your video is proof that it's technique and good brushes, not expensive products, that create a beautiful look. Love your videos and blog. Wishing you all success!
I came across this tutorial and I really like that you dont play up a prissy voice for your videos. 10 thumbs up for that!! I watched the whole 21 minutes without forwarding it was informative and classy. Im now a subscriber. very pretty, natural, and realistic stuff.
When I was in the USA, I bought many amazing products especially from drugstore because you recommended them. I can't be any happier! Thank you for everything you taught me Emily! You are a true friend, sister and a teacher! LOVE from Turkey!
I FINALLY found the right color foundation! I bought the one in this video and I am soooo happy!!! My budget is strickly drugstore and I watch all of your tutorials and product reviews. You put so much time and thought into them. I appreciate you. Thank you Thank you Thank you Emily!!!!
Yes, please show us your entire morning routine!!! Also, would love to see a wardrobe video showing how you pick your outfits for the news, colors, styles, patterns, etc.
Love all of your looks and tutorials! Also I like the fact that you sound like your doing the news. That's what keeps you more interesting than other bloggers
OMG Emily! Words can not express how exited I got when I saw this video pop up in my sub box! I anchor for my school's morning news show and I was absolutely dying and praying to see how you did your makeup for the news! Can't wait to use these tips
This video was great. Your application techniques can be used by anyone and all of the products are priced just right. Thanks Emily, for helping women around the globe look and feel their best...you're awesome!
You would be so proud of me, Emily!! I was a guest on a tv interview last week and watched this video the night before so I could follow your tips. The make up lady at VOA was like " you don't need any touch ups, girl, ur make up is perfect!" lol......so thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I'm 36 and JUST getting into makeup to spice up my video marketing. I love your detailed explanation on - well, every step! A lot of tutorials I've been watching, you are the only one who actually explain why you applied that product in a certain way. Thank you so much!
you are so incredibly eloquent. i love watching your videos to inspire me to improve my communication skills :) so excited for the new chapter in your life!
You are crazily good! True blue newscaster. You can go on and on and on so fluently while doing your makeup to perfection. That's real skill, not just with newscasting, but also with makeup!!
Emily you are not only an outstanding beauty guru but an amazing person! The thought and effort you put into your videos really shows and I can always depend on the high quality of advice you give out. Thank you so much!
Would love a video on how to modify your lifestyle and sleep schedule for a job with early starts and longs days. How to plan, how to get through long days, how to adapt to a family with a regular daily schedule, especially on the weekends, etc.
this is probably one of the first 20minute videos i actually sat through and watched. i love seeing a full face of makeup done right amazing video!! =)
I'd say I usually take between 25 & 30 minutes for makeup alone. I don't like to be rushed, and depending on the new product I'm trying- I'll take less or more time. Like if it's a new eye palette, I tend to take longer because I'm messing with all the colors. But if it's a multi-tasking type of product (like the bronzer/contour product all in one that I show here)- it can cut down the time. So it varies, but my makeup room is my happy place so I'm enjoying every minute! :)
Yes they do! Powder is one of the most important things for them... they really just need to even out the skin tone & keep from looking shiny. My co-anchor also uses an under-eye concealer to sort of perk-up the undereye area. Besides concealer, powder, and i think some lip balm- that's all he does! (guys have it easy!)
Omg this was the best makeup video I've seen in a long time and I've seen tons of videos. U really explained things so well and for a makeup obsessed person like me, I learned a lot of new tips and tricks. Keep it up! Ur awesome!
Loved this video Emily! It's so comprehensive and basic enough that people can definitely incorporate this into their day to day, whether they're on HD TV or not! :)
Thank you so much for listing out everything you use. I know it is extra work for you but it makes it so much easier to find an item for the viewers. Really great details and product reviews. Not just the "how to" but "why" as well.
yes I've been waiting for this video!! please do those other videos that you mentioned at the beginning of this video!! also, i love how you did the intro before you start talking...like when you had some pictures of the look, then had the beauty broadcast image, and then you started talking..i really liked that! love you!
Thank you so much for sharing this video tutorial. I have been invited to do a segment on a local talk show and was looking for tips as it will be my first time on television. You have put me at ease and helped me feel more educated and confident moving forward. I appreciate you!
Beautiful tutorial! I love this. You give a great explanation. Before I started watching you, I didn't know how to do that "soft smokey-eye." And thanks to you I learned how and I wear it everyday!
halleluiah. i am a broadcast journalism major in college and i would love to see videos on what to wear on camera either for a standup or at the desk. and hair tips too. like how to style it and make it look good on camera would be awesome! love ya!
Amazing tutorial! I am not in film but I love these tip and tricks and will be forwarding this to my local news station, a few of them could really benefit from this video!
Awesome tutorial, Emily! Out of all the TH-camr's I watch, I believe you are truly gifted at applying makeup...especially eye makeup. I am very grateful for any tutorials you post because I am eager to learn:) Thank you for your videos! ~xo Denise
I bought the revlon bronzer and returned it that day. For some reason it came off looking so orangey even when I used it with a light hand. That's one product I definitely wanted to love
the peachy highlight on the brow and white-peach on the inner eyes was a great tip! i'd never thought of using anything but a white or even a skin colour! :3
You did such a great job on this video, as always. I've watched quite a few without saying "thank you." Thank you. You're just a refreshing breath of fresh air - so focused on doing the best that you can. Inspiring me to do the same.
Kudos to you Emily. Your routine is so much more detaied than my work makeup (obviously as I am not presenting the news :-) ) and so early in the morning too. I don't know how you do it. Well done.
What a great idea for a video! I'm not on tv often (and if so it definitely isn't HD) but real life is as high definition as it gets so I will definitely be using some of these tips. Thank you
thank you so much!! I was worried I might bore people with the nitty gritty details, but wanted to make sure people who needed the info could have it! :)
I've been watching you for awhile, but just got around to watching this video. It was so informative. Girl, you really know your stuff. Loved it! Do more of the same!!!!
Thanks so much for the video, Emily! I would love if you could share your lighting set up for putting on your makeup when it's so dark out! I've definitely had a few makeup disasters where I've gone out into natural light and found that I looked TOTALLY different than I did in my bathroom mirror at 7 am!
Most helpful video I have ever watched. As a Broadcast Journalism major graduating college in May, I had no idea how to do any of this before now, and was sort of panicking! So THANK YOU!
