  • We get asked a lot by members of our Resin Artists group how to create cells in resin art, specifically using a dirty pour process.
    This short video will cover the basics of creating cells in resin art using resin, pigments and resi-blast only.
    No silicone required, no solvents required, no alcohols required, no heat required, no pouring medium required, and ( in my case ) no talent required !.
    This technique leaves the resin surface smooth, glossy and shiny.
    No dimples, no craters, no residue.
    Products used :
    MasterCast 1-2-1 Clear artwork Resin
    Resi-Blast dispersion Media
    4 x Resi-Tint polymer pigments ( Black, Light Grey, Dark Grey and White ).
    Happy Art !.

    Thanks for this video! One of the best as far as thorough information & a great tutorial 👍🏻 in my opinion, however, you did swirl/mix it a bit too much right before pouring. With the way that you combined the colours in the cup (a bit at a time) you really didn't need more than a quick 1-2 "swirls" IF even any at all

    I love these cells you got in this one! I think using both white and black really helps get that fine webbing type of cells. The one I saw on the live stream with several blues didn't get as much definition as this one did. I just subscribed! Very interested in this, as I make jewelry and I think resin could really add depth to pouring on my wood pieces.

    I love watching this type of art; I think it's so cool how it's made and just how it looks overall. But I personally don't want to try to do it. I get so attached to how the colors blend to it that when it mixes or blends too much, I get all sad, haha. The galaxy looked so pretty and then it turns into more cell-y like when it spreads across the board thingy.

    With certain brands the white actually weighs more so if you put it in last it will sink to the bottom of your picture once poured making cells. I do not know if that works with your brand and resin but with golden colors and liquidated pouring medium it does. Go by wt. of colors.

    • @007rastas
      @007rastas  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Patti, this doesn't happen with our resin and resi-tint pigment range. All colours behave the same way with comparable densities - this makes the result predictable to a larger degree.

    • @007rastas
      @007rastas  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Monte, dimples are usually caused by surface tension separation when there is insufficient casting depth, or also by over-heating the surface during bubble removal. Which resin are you using ? MasterCast or totalCAST ? ...

    my Mastercast is not flowing so well, it's quite thick. Do you use any thinners?

    • @007rastas
      @007rastas  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, this is due to storage at low temperatures. Simply pre-warm the resin component and you will notice it becomes clear and runny very quickly again. Do not use a solvent or thinners as this will affect the resin's performance and make it flammable.

    • @FIFOPhoto
      @FIFOPhoto 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      how do I prewarm it? Put the containers in a water-bath? Which temperature should the water have? Thx

    • @007rastas
      @007rastas  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can immerse the resin container in hot water around 40-50 Deg.C, alternatively place it near a radiator and periodically shake / stir to allow the heat to circulate evenly.

      Thanks Sandra, I'm not actually an artist, nor do I make the art to sell, its only done as tests with our products. We are based in the U.K ( Surrey ) and deliver to Ireland every day. You can order all items shown here : www.elichem.co.uk
