We still must die to ourselves in order to truly serve Christ. Less of me and more of Him! The Lord wants us to take up our cross. This is not just a figurative thing. It is something that can only happen by spending time alone with God and allowing Him to deal with our sinful nature and to lay upon the altar our talents and dreams so that His will can be done in our lives.
For you and me, as Christians, you may know, the cross is the central part of our faith, but this is not just some far away concept but we need to actually crucify ourselves in our old sinful nature - even though Jesus gives his nature by his Holy Spirit when we are converted, Paul the Apostle says, "I die daily". So we need to die spiritually, everyday, when everyday, we need to crucify our old, selfish and lust-driven nature at the cross, and through faith in Jesus, let the Holy Spirit give us his new nature, as Paul the Apostle says, in Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, The life I live in my flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave his life for me." New King James.
