I'm not sure what you are asking but here goes - I solder plumb solder and pieces of different karats and colors of gold (10K, 14K, 18K of yellow, rose and green) on top of a silver band. Then, I file down, polish and tumble before oxidizing. Let me know if this helps. Robin
ABSOLUTELY - 999 silver is fine silver and 925 is sterling silver. BOTH can be oxidized with liver of sulphur.

you can try using a brush. for flat black - not colors - you can use JAX or pen plating black rhodium
