I’ve been playing in church since I was 18 I’m now 37. Hear me when I say you can learn the parts but soon as you get to rehearsal or Sunday morning…something either changes or some musicians aren’t playing the song correctly for the part you learned to fit. Especially in the black church. You’re absolutely right tho! Tailor the parts to your band!
Leaders could be more helpful by providing written parts... Players should learn the parts, after all they are in a cover band in most cases. If you choose to explore and grow, just be tasteful and don't overplay.
@@MichaelMuilenburg that definitely works for some people! For me personally written parts are not remotely helpful. I’ve been playing guitar for more than 11 years and almost everything I know is learned by ear/watching others.
