If we don’t get a major software overhaul in 2025, IK is asleep. The good thing is that everything else suggests that IK is not asleep, but is pushing both the technology and the value in a way that is revolutionary in an already complex market space. After running two Tonex Ones for a year, I’ve just ordered the full Tonex pedal. This will let me run guitar models, bass models, and acoustic IRs through one stereo box and will streamline my home studio considerably, which now has independent paths for all those things, plus the required switching and mixing to bring it all back into the interface. Heck, the Tonex even does away with the interface if you want. Thanks for the vid!
I worked as a programmer in the IT industry and I won't buy this because I can buy the Boss IR2 which doesn't require software unless you want to change the IRs. It comes with good ones though. I'm 63 and started with tube amps and pedals. I hate using apps with an amp modeller or pedal. Why? When I can buy something I don't have to do so like the IR2 or just a small combo..
Too late now. HeadRush has stepped up to the plate and now has way better technology. Super Cloning will be the future of capture tech and HeadRush is the only one that has it. The rest will be scrambling next year to get it and catch up.
Totally agreed...I love my big tonex but the software is definitely a turnoff to me. I've got about 10 amps that I love but I can't be bothered wading through frustration in order to get the new fx features onto my device. Counterintuitive and confusing software for sure. The only keeping tonex back I think. And this is coming from a raving fan

Not sure what you mean. If you change the settings directly on the pedal it doesn’t update the preset, just stays on the pedal. If you change them in the software you have to change the settings, save it to the preset, and related the preset back onto the pedal. Ends up taking 5-6 clicks across two pages just to even apply the changes to the pedal. Way more tedious than necessary.

The software is nothing so terrible. It is quite complex to use only if you have to profile your amps, but for the vast majority of people, who only use it for selecting presets, well, no problem at all. And, by the way, contrary of what you said, in the worst case scenario, you can just use it with the included presets without even touching a computer, and you can still get it sound amazing: you have simply to enter the "browse mode" (press the pedal and the alt at the same time) and you can select any preset loaded into the pedal directly.
I bought this pedal to use with my podgo... i hate the user interface on it, and that made me return it. I prefer setting up on the pc, "set it and forget it". And this pedal did not do that... for something that small, the UI should have been the simplest thing to do.
i've got tonex one and finally figured out how to just use it with the presets after having since they came out. i literally had set it up with two amp models like the first day and just switched between it to the extent i used it at all.
If the set up does not become a preset, the effects will not go to the pedal. If you upload it from a user folder, it won't go to the pedal either. Bizarre software. This is with the new update.
You speak the truth. Do you experience those pop ups when a preset is paid? You can't clear it by pressing Ecs. You have to reach for your mouse (pick in hand), manually cancel it and select another one while it makes a terrible noise. No way of knowing in advance if it is paid either. If listening to paid presets was a nicer experience I'd be more inclined to pay for them. Despite all of this, if you put the work in, it is worth it.
