A viola is SO FAR! From similar! To a violin!! It's bigger, sounds deeper and more "round" i play viola for almost 10 years! (Startet When i was 3) So. Its NOT the same thing!!!

it's cheap for being a professional bow, just try to get a beginners bow or something to start out

Amazing Fish pony That's cheap for an instrument and especially if it's a high quality instrument. You can get a cheap instrument like a Violin for 74$ USD It won't be high quality but it's still an instrument.

I'm always baffled by professinal players cases, I'm in highschool and my teacher teaches about 100 people, and his case looks like something out of a sci-fi movie with all the dials and pockets, and his reusable grocery bag full of old instrument parts and strings for when accidents happen. Meanwhile in my case, I have my viola, my bow (with this weird sticky stuff by the frog that I can't get off), a cloth for rosin, and some weird cards with viola notes printed on them (our instruments get switched out a lot because we're kids and grow out of the instruments faster than you can say forte).

I have a performance coming up and I feel like I will look totally bland while playing. any tips to like not do that and just express myself?..

Hello. I'd like to be a professional musician some day. I love your TH-cam videos. I currently play the viola, guitar, and French horn. I would like to get a degree in horn performance and I've been looking into schools and conservatorys to possibly audition for. I was just wondering if you have any tips on what might be some good things to look for in a college or conservatory. I'm currently a junior in high school and Julliard is one of my dream schools. Thank you for reading my comment and I hope you'll have some advice for me. Any response or input would be greatly appreciated.
+Josh Ross Thanks for the comment buddy! I'm FAR FAR FAR from becoming a professional, but I appreciate the sentiment ;) What I would look for in a school is a teacher you really click with. That's gonna be the most important thing in your development, so go get some lessons with teachers and ask around :)

441? I've never tried that... In my orchestra we roll with 442 and my teacher tunes to 440, which is a pain.

This video is quite old but a little tip: all my fellow bam case owners use nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol on the exterior, and it makes the scuffs/scratches much less visible!

I really need one since summer at my place gets crazy hot and dry and I travel with my viola a lot for my private viola lessons and then after that I go to my piano private lessons. In my viola case? My violin, don't want it stolen! Kidding, I like the viola, but in my violin case, violin, bow, rosin, spare set of strings, just in case, coz you never know maybe some sheet music and a rag in case the fingerprints bug me, like my guitar case has guitar, spare strings, few picks, maybe a capo, maybe a slide, music if necessary. Wouldn't put anything unusual in, don't want random stuff damaging my instrument!

You know you can clean the "scuffs" with a cleaning cloth and some car scratch remover or nail polish remover. Or even alcohol pads.

Love this! I have a Bam as well, and if you want to get rid of the scratches, a magic eraser works REALLY well. Like, mine looked like yours and it looks brand new. Also, I'm curious to know what you played with ASO....Love all of your work!
