    Thanks Tammy for sharing "how to color crushed glass". It is going to be very helpful. The colors that you shared are outrageous. Love how you explained the steps along with the "don't s". Very understandable

      Brilliant Brunette disguised in BLONDE MOMENTS first off I love your name lol secondly I put them in a zip lock bag I side of another zip lock bag to ensure I don't get impaled by glass lol. If you do that you will be fine and nothing will fly at you! 😁

    Tammy I'm SO HAPPY I found your channel! Wonderful idea! I'm new at the resin making. I was a card maker/scrap booker, etc., for over 20 yrs, then made soap, and now I want to learn to pour and use resin. I have 2 vases full of those marble things, and I have a ton of alcohol inks and mica's. (I know mica's can't be used for this but it can be put in resin) I can make a ton of colors. Your a good instructor and I know I will learn a lot from you. I started by just wanting to know what resin flooding was. I'm so bored staying in the house because of the Pandemic, so I will be out tomorrow, smashing glass on the sidewalk! My neighbors are going to think "there she goes, she lost her mind!" lol, but they know I do a lot of different art projects. We're all going stir crazy at this point. Better to be safe than get the virus though, and this will keep me busy. I have everything I think to follow and make one of your projects. I CAN'T WAIT! :) Thank you again. Thumbs UP!

    Thank you for the great tutorial. I live in a smaller town and can't access a lot of crushed glass but have now discovered that I can use the glass marbles which I can get at dollar stores. Never knew you could use alcohol inks, got those. Going to have fun

    I’ve used acrylic ink too. It doesn’t make sparkly ones, but it colours very well and they don’t stick together at all. A little glitter in with the ink makes them awfully pretty.

      Wandering Art it is and you can make so many unique colors by blending 2 different colors together especially the gold and silver mixative colors with let's say for instance a blue. You get such an amazing effect. Your geodes will truly be one of a kind! Thanks for your support 😙

    Hi Tammy! I watch all your paint pouring videos and I'm also subscribed to your resin channel. I typed a question in Google and was so happy it suggested this video. I understand you were creating the glass for a geode so you may not have noticed but I'm trying to find out if using alcohol ink dulls the sparkle of the glass like in light. I know you will help if you can. You are such a wonderful teacher

    Wow thanks Tammy you're so good at explaining things. I have the plum alcohol ink so I was excited to see what it looked like on the glass! I also have the gold alcohol ink and was wondering if it would have the metallic shine. It's hard to find the crushed glass in a variety of colours.

    • @tammyandersonart

      MaryJanes Trips yes it does keep the shine! Both the silver and gold!

    Since the ink has alcohol in it, will the crushed glass be flammable after you pour resin on them? I used a torch to get rid of air bubbles and do not want to start a fire.

      Marion Kachel you can also make your own alcohol inks. There are videos explaining how. It's basically putting some rubbing alcohol in a bottle and then you pull apart a sharpie marker and put the Ink parts into the bottle. Search on TH-cam and give it a try😁 use the words diy alcohol inks

    • @tammyandersonart

    Awesome Tammy! :D Now I can color my dollar tree stones! I don't have alchol inks, and wow, I already did buku shopping this weekend, so I do know that you can make alcohol ink from sharpies..probably a mess to do..but I'm going to give it a whirl. lols *sips coffee* I just watched a couple of vids to make alcohol ink..while the homemade ones are a little bit of a mess to do, and probably not as vibrant as just buying alcohol ink..I live in the middle of nowhere, and already drove over to Michaels on the coast, and..I have plenty of sharpies and bic permanent markers, so that's why I'll be doing it that way. lols I already spent soo much..maybe in the future I can just buy the alcohol ink.

    • @tammyandersonart
      @tammyandersonart  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jofish420 I've made alcohol inks also using Sharpie markers. It can be a little messy but wear gloves and have fun they do work

    I boiled them twice for an enormous amount of time, they would not break, I hammered them and they still wouldn't break. so...l put my oven on broil and cooked the you know what out of them and magic happened... it was a lot of fun!

      I was curious because you said you boiled them? Did you boil like as in water or did you put them in empty frying pan with lid and let them cook ,(so to speak🙂lll) Then put them in ice bath?
      They'll immediately begin the cracking sound!

  • @johnkristinamartin8272
    @johnkristinamartin8272 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, I am new to all of this but I am very excited to learn and experiment! So I am just curious, why is it important to crack the glass first before you start hammering? Can you not just start hammering? Or does that help it to not be too sharp?🤔 Also I often times break wine glasses trying to wash them in the dishwasher; is it possible to use that glass to color and smash? Thanks for the tips!💖

    I wondered how to to color the glass ..thank you for this video!! Will the Bombay inks we use in our resin pours work too, or does it have to be alcohol inks?

    • @tammyandersonart
      @tammyandersonart  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ann Corpe I've never tried the Bombay inks. They may bleed once they touch the resin.

    • @tammyandersonart
      @tammyandersonart  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brilliant Brunette disguised in BLONDE MOMENTS Bombay inks are made using concentrated acrylic pigments abd are more of an opaque color whereas alcohol inks are made using an alcohol based ink and are more transparent. I think that's it lol don't quote me tho. Bombay I do know do not have any alcohol in them.

    • @anncorpe3320

      Brilliant Brunette disguised in BLONDE MOMENTS Google says one is a pigment and one is a dye...so whatever the difference between a pgment and a dye is would be the answer..lmao

      Andrea Morin I tried them tonight and they didn't run for me. I'm making a video too show which ones did and which ones didn't. The calligraphy ones and the fountain pen colors bled like a bitch but the liquitex magenta acrylic ink and the Bombay red violet India ink did not at all.
