The number one beginner's tip I've ever seen for this game is a tip I don't think any other beginner's tip could ever really compete with. It changed how I approach every game of this entire genre, but ESPECIALLY Sekiro, and it allowed me to enjoy the game again when I was struggling the most. The tip is this: Don't approach fights-especially boss fights, and especially your first encounter with a boss-with the goal of winning. Forget winning entirely. Really. Your only goal should be to learn about the fight. If you go in expecting to win, there's a high likelihood that you'll just come out angry that you didn't win. However, if you go in with your mind locked onto just seeing what attacks the enemy does and how they're timed (Sekiro boss fights are low-key rhythm games, remember that,) what you can and can't do, what works, when you can do what does work, etc., and if your only goal is improvement, then you never really lose because every time you fight, even if you die, you've achieved some small bit of improvement. Even if all you achieve is one more exposure to the fight, all those exposures eventually add up to muscle memory, and each exposure is growth in that regard, even if you die. The improvement is always there, even if you think it isn't. Do not seek victory, seek only improvement. Then, as you do improve, the victory will eventually happen on its own, as a nice big bonus. Also, death doesn't matter. Dragonrot doesn't matter. Losing Sen and XP don't matter. All that matters is that you continue to push on again and again. That's the name of the game, so to speak.
Underrated comment. Coming from a person who’s only ever played Elden Ring and desperately wants to pick up Sekiro, I appreciate you taking the time to make this comment
I have learned, if you want to farm a certain area come at them from the opposite path of where you encountered them initially.. they will be focussed on they path you initially came from for quick stealth kills and blitz attacks..
12: Don't hesitate to flee combat if you fucked up. Most enemies will reset if you hide long enough, giving you a chance to rinse and repeat "hit & run" tactics when outnumbered.
Something you should know as well if you plan on playing Ghost of Tsushima as well. In GoT, you’re supposed to play like the “Ghost” you are and don’t always fight with honor. Of course for many of us, we end up getting punched in the face because of our pride and ego. That’s something I’m going to have to fix before playing Sekiro. I am quite good at DS and BB with me beating Gehrman second try but parrying is different from deflecting.
Here are some extra tips for people that weren't covered in this video: 1-Use goddamn quick items, from oil to fistful of ash to sugars to cermaic shards (for stealth). Each of them can be used in certain situations and accompanied by certain prosthetic tools will destroy your enemies easily (flame vent/Leaping flame spear/mist raven + oil. Axe/Sabimaru + fistful of ash.) 2. USE ALL prosthetic tools, they are all useful in certain situations against certain enemies and with each upgrade the possibilities increase. Get creative, destroy everyone in flames or just lure them to their death 3- Know your enemy, all Okami warrior descendents get rekt by sabimaru (O'Rin of water for example. Apparation enemies are destroyed in seconds with malcontent(headless) etc 4- Anything that isn't an unblockable attack is blockable and deflectable and the game will teach you this early. Bull? Deflect his charge or use firecrackers and his posture goes insane, Divine Dragon? Deflect that bitch and stop running (altho deflecting removes the fun from that fight so personally I still run). Ogre is jump kicking your face from acrosd the arena? Block/Deflect
Honestly its alot better to dodge around the ogres and keep a minimal distance/baiting out its attacks. They're weak/scared of fire so sparingly use the oil/flame vent combo on it. Oil boosts the chance of getting burned by pretty much 100% For samurais it's best to keep constant pressure and parry constantly/dodge counter. Both greatly damage posture on all enemies
Save sugars for mini bosses and main bosses except the vitality and stealth sugars since the vitality sugar helps against multiple enemies and the stealth is obviously universal
I’m a souls-borne VETERAN (beat all games plus dlc 3-4 times each) and yet this game is having its way with me like no other. Thank you for taking the time to help people like me :)
Having only played Bloodborne it wasn’t so much the deflection that was getting me wrecked. It was the blocking that messed me up. Not having a meter kind of throws me off a bit but a nice/needed welcome to action platformers from FromSoft
“If it [the posture bar] is getting dangerously full, switch to dodging”. Well... Yes and no. A key thing that we old soulsborne players might not realize on our own (I know I didn’t), is that Posture is NOT like stamina. That is to say, in Souls games, guarding slows down stamina regen significantly forcing you to eventually change tack or else be guard-broken. In Sekiro, when your posture bar is at all filled, guarding rapidly *increases* Posture regen. So long as you aren’t being actively hit, after a split second of guarding, your Posture meter drains away very quickly. It makes sense in game terms. You’re regaining your footing, which one could do if they focused on a strong, defensive stance without being struck. Basically you want to wail on any enemy you have to fight head on until they parry you (or are otherwise about to attack). Then guard their attacks, ideally parrying them if you can. If your posture bar fills before theirs, that’s when you want to back off and guard to lower the bar. The game doesn’t make this quite so explicit as it does the mechanic whereby enemies with more health regen posture much faster, requiring you to whittle their health down with the right attacks first, but it does give you the tools to figure this out. While I’m at it, dodges and even jumps *do* have i-frames. It’s possible to dodge or jump from danger, however the enemies have much better tracking on this game, so it’s less simple to avoid damage this way. At best you need to at least know where your dodge will put you after the i-frames run out. (Learn not to jump away when you jump over unvlovkable sweep attacks. Firstly you’re liable to be hit when you come down otherwise, secondly you’ll miss the chance jumping straight up or toward the enemy affords you to head stomp them. This is for when your trying to do posture damage.)
Also, you didn't mention this but you health is taken into consideration when you start gaurding posture away, 80-100% is rapid 50% is slower, and 30% is barely any, being gaurd broken at the end of a combo is the best thing if you are low without any remaining health items
These are great tips for new people to sekiro. The one I would add is use your prostitics often. Example the axe does large damage not just breaking shields. Thank you for your video 😊
My issue with sekiro is that, though its awesome to hear the stealth animation sound, I feel like I'm making a lot of noise and become unsure of the stealthiness of my move haha
I came from all three Dark Souls, and I'm still finding Sekiro hard to get a handle on. I think the weirdest thing for me is the parry system. It seems like a parry isn't always a parry. Sometimes you get the little parry animation, but you don't get the deathblow, or sometimes you have to parry three times in a row. I'm still working that out.
Very true man and I’m in the same situation having played other soulsborne. Tbh I think the only successful way to parry is to try and predict enemy attacks as they come

i love this game. so much better than dark souls 3 and bloodborne. its way more difficult as well because you cant farm to level up. there are no leveling up in this game which i love. you can farm for skills but not levels. i have always been intrigued with samurai/ninja animes and mangas: shigurui, rurouni kenshin, basilisk, samurai champloo, vagabond, lone wolf and cub, and the executioner. playing as a shinobi is awesome. the final ashina attack reminds me of kenshin's amakakeru ryu no hirameki attack. i love getting in the stance waiting for enemies to approach me just so i can draw my sword.

It's all trial and Error. Learning what works and doesnt work. Memorizing attack patterns. But you really want to learn to stay on the offensive. Not be afraid to attack once or twice after deflecting. If you start seeing the posture meter as a health bar, it might help you understand the importance of posture. Theres a TH-camr that has vids on parying every attack on every boss. Could check out his vids to help you learn the bosses combos without worrying about getting pummeled your self. Just got this game yesterday to play on ps5 and it’s fucking great! Cant wait to get off work and play!
Any tips on how to deal with dragonrot? Especially to find the exact NPC location who get the sickness.
Each time someone gets sick you get an item describing him. Use that to find him. Only people you've met before can get sick.
You can cure all persons afflicted by the dragonrot via dragon blood droplets at the bonfire/shrine
Dragon rot is a non issue, easily removed when you want. Just make sure not to waste the resource that cures it.
@@Naygen not really. there were npc that got dragonrot in my playthrough that i never even met based off the description. for example, the old lady in senpou temple had dragonrot before i even got the chance to meet her. when i ran into her she was wheezing.
Use your resurrects to flee battle and get to an Idol. Dragonrot is only spread through death, not resurrections. So use them to prevent building Dragonrot. This method will also spare you losing half your gold and xp.
Ive bodied the whole dark souls series growing up but sekiro is seriously slumping me 😭🤣
My best tip is: if are a tenchu player, don’t think you will be a shadow 100%. This game forces you into a face2face combat.
An honest tip: play the game the developers meant you to. Deflection is key. I was just revisting this and was thinking to myself how much harder I thought the game was. Once you get the deflection you can literally do anythinf
whats the deflection???
@@sebastianlimbach5110 🤦🏾♂️you tap the guard button as soon as they attack to "deflect"
I paid a 5er for this off a random guy last night! Just so he could buy a scratch card! I only went to Tesco for milk! 🤫
Most important tip....focus and try another day helps
i love this game. so much better than dark souls 3 and bloodborne. its way more difficult as well because you cant farm to level up. there are no leveling up in this game which i love. you can farm for skills but not levels. i have always been intrigued with samurai/ninja animes and mangas: shigurui, rurouni kenshin, basilisk, samurai champloo, vagabond, lone wolf and cub, and the executioner. playing as a shinobi is awesome. the final ashina attack reminds me of kenshin's amakakeru ryu no hirameki attack. i love getting in the stance waiting for enemies to approach me just so i can draw my sword.
You can farm for attack power what are you talking about ?
@@Tybear-qz4bx how? in order to increase attack power you require one of those memories which means you need to defeat a boss to acquire one of those memories.
@@sthao1733 wrong. You can increase attack Power by having the full mask, but it cost 5 upgrade levels.
@@sthao1733 here you go th-cam.com/video/09GeIr5Cr6o/w-d-xo.html
@@Tybear-qz4bx i dont know anything about this and im going to try to just erase what i read, i dont like spoilers thats why i try to avoid as many sekiro videos as possible
I wish this game, or even other souls games will have more stealth options. I wish this game had a bow, or something so you could take out enemies from afar.
Highly recommended ghosts of Tsushima in that case. Also from softs upcoming title Elden ring is going to feature stealth and bows
@@s0vnds oh i love ghost! One of my favorite games of all time! I need to clean up the platinum for that one. Elden ring is going to have stealth, but nothing like ghost. Idk why im even complaining tbh, cause i do love fromsoft games. I feel its just with sekiro in general, i feel like it could have used some bow play here an there. It is what it is, still fantastic though
so your a coward
This helped soooooo much THK U OMG
Sekiro (隻狼) is in fact a shortening of Sekiwan no Ōkami (隻腕の狼), or one armed wolf.
So I decided to buy some games I missed last year since I’ve got all the time in the world while in lockdown, I’ve just finished Jedi: Fallen Order and Sekiro is next, I’ve never played a souls game and every comment I see regarding this game say it’s stupidly hard, I’m looking forward to the challenge though.
Greasy Simp It definitely got better for me as I learnt how everything worked, I really enjoyed the story. I did however almost quit on the final boss, it’s a joke and it took me a crazy amount of time to get everything down to perfection. I went to dark souls 3 after Sekiro and I hated it, I did finish it but I prefer Sekiro a lot more. In all honesty they were a good challenge but I don’t think I’ll play games like these again.
This game makes your stik damage wreck
Best trick is to go back to the budha statue to redt whenever you are about to die because then you will not loose any coins or experience
New to soul game (kind of begginer for every pc game just shifted from mobile games ) and playing sekiro as 1st game
"Sekiwo"
As someone who had trouble with the scandinavian rolling R growing up, I still cannot fathom how people are unable to pronounce the English R. I mean...just point your tounge upwards.

Which DS weapon has a similar moveset to the Kusabimaru?
Checking this video out after starting the game yesterday and being pecked to death by a large cockerel
This game is ridiculously difficult.
and broken
@@ts6603 pretty easy when you know how to parry. When you alrdy knew how to parry in Dark Souls and BloodBorne this game wasn t very hard, just took at while to get used to and thats it. The insane mobility makes it broken. This game even had a tutorial etc. and was super beginner and noobfriendly like no other souls game before and people still complain lol
@@lolno8406 there are a lot of bugs though. regarding the controls
@@ts6603 Can't agree. It's not "broken" and I didn't find any bugs but there are some soapy/slippery controls.
That’s what makes it fun
not harder than bettletoads or Ninja Gaiden in xbox but its DAMM TOUGH
This game has caused me to bring up ninja gaiden black so many times in conversation...so many painful memories...damn those og xbox controllers were tough...
Ninja gaiden was tough, i still have nightmares of the boss fight with Alma. I would say this is harder though.
Raul Rojas It’s a game for those that love Ninja Gaiden. They both hold their belts just fine as hard games. Wouldn’t even spoil it for myself by comparing the two
It's way harder then ninja gaiden in my opinion .
Jin kisaragi I agree
When's the review coming?
i may need to do this in my game, i honestly cannot get into it. Didnt know you can buy prayer beads/gourd seeds from merchants...
"the horseback boss"
HIS NAME
IS GYOBU MASATAKA ONIWA
I don't think he's saying allat
I hit him with some cheap shots before he finished saying his name😂
Hardest game I’ve ever played and one of the best
BloodBorne Old Hunters DLC and the rooted & cursed dungeons with 50% hp cut in the regular game ruined me for every other Souls game so far... Now i find everything to easy and expect much higher difficulty to get the same thrill and challenge i had from BloodBorne. I wish i played this game after Dark Souls 3, Sekiro and Demons Souls Remake and not before ._.
when someone dies and like they start glowing kinda like they have coins on top pf their dead body.. what do i do is there a way to pick it up or do i just leave it?
People saying this game is harder than dark souls 3, I disagree, I had a much harder time fight the nameless King than ANY bosses in this entire game
On quarantine, put the game down 9mths ago, madam butterfly kicked my ass, erased all data and started over today, Sekiro gonna learn today!!!
Theodore Jones last year I must have died on blazing bull over 50 times. I got so discouraged that I just gave up on the game. Now it’s quarantine time, and admittedly with the help of some online guides, I finally defeated the fiery fucker. And I went on to rapidly progress thereafter. The game has suddenly clicked for me. But man is the learning curve steep.
Tip 475: Hire an anger management therapist to make it to the end
I consider myself an expert in Bloodborne and Dark Souls.
I am getting absolutely annihilated in this game. Lol
this game made me rip out the right stick through the shell. 10/10
I destroyed the caged ogre after getting thrown off the cliff 50+ times….
Played it for the first time today and now i have a new controller because of the butterfly lady
I had no idea this game would be this hard when i bought it im new to any game that is not runescape so i cant even get through the first mission been stuck on there for 6 months i dont understand how not to die in this game it seems impossible
Git gud scrub
Septamous yeah well how? Im not progressing at all
It's all trial and Error. This game is hard but you are given all the tools to beat it. only through perseverance will you master it.
Beavis Christ every boss is basically just trying to learn telos for the first time over and over 😂
Biggest tip? THIS IS NOT DARK SOULS, R1 spamming will get you literally nowhere
WorkdayFiddle Neither in Dark Souls (?)

Aren’t we all beginners?
I'd say majority but definitely not all.
You can buy prayer beads?? How did I not know this? Haha
Is there a merchant who sells prayer beads before the drunkered guy in the beginning
the video is deceiving.. You can only buy off one off a "memorial mob" merchant. Same with Gourd seeds only ever one off the first memorial mob merchant.
You mean pweaw beads?
Wtf👽
Why do some of the areas in your video look different than how Ive experienced them??!

I bought this yesterday, omg it's more expensive than average game 😂 it's game of the year of 2019, no wonder 🤷
Can I play this on mouse and keyboard without many issues gameplay wise? (For reference I played fallen order with M and K with no problem)
I started today on M+KB and find it doable. Also finished DS3 this way. The tutorial/hints are for controllers but just get used to the keys and you should be good.
I was hoping this game would be more stealth like tenchu. Hope are with the ghost of tsushima now, c'mon bring back a true ninja game
I agree brother we need another ninja game like tenchu
Bless this narrator and his little impediment
What did they say in Wargames? The only way to win…is not to play.
Worst game experience in my life...deleted it with a strong sence of delight and relief! Thanked myself there is a cinematics movie and that sustained me...
The easiest thing to do in the game was to take the flame barrel I just ran through the enemy's all comming after then I used the idol to go to safety 🤣🤣
Its absolute bull$hit that you lose so much money when dying! In combination with the loss of XP, it can happen that you cannot defeat a certain boss. Simply because you do not have enough funds and XP to either buy new Skills nor mandatory items or both!
Leading to a complete progress STOP that requires a tremendous amount of annoying GRIND!
sorry to be an asshole but the only way of defeating a boss is to master the base mechanics of the game. XP is only really useful for skills
"Dont horde consumbales" was twice lol
This game is so hard not fun to play when you are already half-dead IRL .
I bought to enjoy ended up suffering 😂
This game is no harder than any other souls game
I love the aesthetic and setting, but I'm gonna have to pass. I've never been into the souls games and this seems like more of that
Ghost of tsushima or whatever it's called may be more up your alley. It releases next year I think.
It’s not really like souls games. It does require you to accept that dying is expected tho.
Bruh this isnt a souls like game. It's way faster, actually hard and punishing
Just think of it as Tenchu but harder.
@@raistlarn Even so, I'm still gonna pass. Maybe when it's in the bargain bin. Then my investment will be low and my risk of disappointment will be acceptable
Stealth is pawamount in sekiwo
At first I was like " Fuck this I want my Money Back! " .. Then I calmed down, Bought another controller and really studied EVERYTHING ( Noises that NPC make or timing literally everything is so key) ... Dont be Discouraged! You can Doooo Ittttttt
Being a Souls veteran, I really dislike this game..
I heard it's easier than dark souls

Dark souls is not hard it's irritating
But on other hand sekiro is epic
It's not. Souls series is more forgiving than this game
