The iPhone XR has served me well since launch day in 2018. My 15 Pro Max is shipping soon, so I’ll be saying farewell to the old friend in a week or two. I’ll probably hang on to it as a backup.

Plus one huge advantage of iPhone is all the phones run the same essentially whether it's a XR or the 14 series. Mostly you are getting the same experience for much less without missing very much.
the main difference you will notice for the most part between the xr and 14, is the gaming performance since the chip and ram are different. Genshin impact is the best example for spotting gaming performance. other than that, youre right. for typical consumer use such as browsing, binging, and socializing, you wont notice anything.

My wife got the brand new top-of-the-line iPhone 15 titanium whatever for work and yeah, the user interface is slightly more smooth and very subtlety different: I would say unless you are a tech nerd and I really into this stuff, you will notice no difference except the bill quality is much higher on the 15th titanium per hour or whatever. That is the main difference. Two phones are essentially the same and that blew my mind

I used to have the XR, if you have the money, get the XS Max or 11, they are better. But don't get me wrong, the XR was a great device, the only issue is that it won't have anymore software updates, iOS 17 is the last Major update for the iPhone X Lineup.

It has definitely aged, battery isn't as good and sometimes is chugs on certain things (the apple arcade store front always seems to struggle consistently for some reason). It's probably the last *new* phone I buy because the price of iphones since then has just been ludicrous. I just don't see a need for a latest and greatest phone anymore besides maybe for a better camera these days. It's just a phone for me at this point. I text and make calls, use it for navigation, listen to youtube on it at work, and browse and listen to music on the train. I used to want it to play latest games and such but idc anymore. I got much better mobile options for gaming now if that's really what I want to do.

I’ve had my Black iPhone Xr since late 2019 and it’s been a good phone for me. My battery health is at 86% and I can still go thru a day yk but it helps that I always like my screen brightness dim
Honestly, I would advise anyone to just spend a bit more to get the iPhone 11, if you can or have a flexible budget. You will have a better experience on it than the XR.
My brother has had his XR for years and i had to send it to insurance and they sent him a refurbished iPhone 11 because they had no more XRs and i would say it’s definitely worth the extra bit to get the 11
The XR is not only one of the better phones, its probably the BEST iPhone they've ever made. All it needed was a processor update to be a fantastic device in 2023. Great color accuracy, nice feel in the hand, perfect size, great camera that doesn't have a camera bump the size of some budget android phones, its just a great great phone that I wish they would bring back.
Technically that would be a downgrade performance wise (a13 to a12), as well as the iPhone se 2020 being a newer phone by 2 years. Up to you of course.

There’s a lot of users complaining on ip13 promax when they’re going to update the screen turns into white and this would cost a lot more expensive than expected.
Bro the XR battery is top tier when it comes to heavy usage in social media apps, and taking notes and stuff, my BH is 78 and I get 7 plus hours of screen on time, which means it is easily lasts me all day

My iPhone XR ran fine at launch but when iOS 16 came out it kinda felt slow and iOS 17 ruined it with keyboard lag and springboard crashes when I have too many apps on in the background

I wish I got this phone when it came out and I had the 8 Plus, I definitely would still have it today. But I’m glad I waited and got the 12 Pro Max, it still works like new.
My XR is so laggy and freezes all the time. Sometimes you type on the keyboard, and nothing happens for like 7 seconds and then everything you typed pops up, sometimes the camera won't open, and sometimes it just freezes up and the power button won't even turn it off. It seems based of the other comments I'm reading that everyone has a different experience, but I personally would not recommend a XR
exactly and the iphone 12 is like 380 dollars and has an A14 chip and an oled screen and dual cameras and a perfect sized phone with a large display and that phone is so much better then the XR
