    "Grumble, Grumble..." it's probably meant to be the sound of the Goriya's stomach growling.

    My grandmother burned every single bush, and bombed every single rock wall, in the overworld when she played this back in 88

  • @doc_louie

    The "go to the next room" thing was there to help the player figuring out how to cross the false wall that was originally implemented for the first time in the game (you can see this in the proto version). But while they finally droped the idea and kept it for the second quest, the old man still delivers the same tip.

      @@legendaryadventurespod the manji does appear in another zelda game, ocarina of time. the forest temple emblem is a stylized manji, and the windmill receives alot of attention, which is a symbol for the manji.

    "It's a secret to everybody" is the most iconic phrase in the series.

    With the remake of Link's Awakening, people have been begging for Oracle game remakes. I however, think the first two games should get that treatment.

    • @CarpenterForeman
      @CarpenterForeman 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A remake of 1 in the same style could serve as a decent sequel…but I guess Echoes fills that role 🤔 I love the style and the game design and I’ll take as many as I can get 😅

    Hey. Great video! One piece of misinformation you gave is that you HAVE to collect the heart piece in the first dungeon. You can defeat the boss with a bomb and then walk into the single block behind the heart before the bomb explodes. The heart will appear to your left and you can go right to get the triforce. 10:27

    Nice summary. I agree that whilst it's cool to see the origins of the ideas that would become mainstays in the series, this first game is really rough around the edges, especially if (like me) you started from the later games in the series. I apricate it's difficult to see how it must have felt to people at the time, whether wandering around the map trying to find solutions to the obtuse secrets was part of the main appeal.
    Similarly, I wonder if the world map itself seemed more exciting back then, especially with it's "miniature box garden" design style (using Miyamoto's words) that uses minimalism to allow imagination to fill in the gaps.

      i played this game a little after it first came out, though i was way too young for the difficulty and intelligence you'd need to conquer it
      at the time, all games were like this. i remember being amazed by the graphics. you filled in the rest with your imagination
      nowadays the graphics are so much that they fill in all the details for you, but for the time this came out, it really was one of the most finely crafted adventures that had ever been made

    wait, Link's Awakening uses the music Zelda 1 uses for successfully completing a dungeon and getting booted to the overworld for when you point up your sword at the beach. That's really cool.

    A fourth explanation for the hint about the secret is in the arrow could be from the second quest, where you push the rock at the tip of the arrow up in the Lost Hills in order to reveal the location of the magical sword

    Man! I'm so jealous of younger people who play this game for the first time! They have guides, videos, online friends, and all sorts of strategies and assists to figure things out. I played this game as a kid back in the late 80s, early 90s . . . yeah I didn't have any of that. My best bet was to wait until school and ask people if they had also played the game, HAHAHA!

    Hey, man, please be careful using the word Nazi in your videos. TH-cam makes it difficult even for history channels to use the word in its proper context without getting demonetized. It would just suck for you to Go monetized when your channel gets big enough and then TH-cam tell you you can't monetize this video because you used a word that they want to censor.

    • @DietDracula
      @DietDracula 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s so ridiculous how social media platforms censor things. They don’t ever look at context, and even still, free speech should exist. I know it’s a technically a private business but its whole marketable aspect is through self exploration/discussion.
