@@sirmely That is deeply inaccurate. They both had very involved parents, ESPECIALLY Dylan. No one wakes up one morning thinking your kid is going to this level. Tragic.
I don't empathize with the Principal because he denies its shared responsibility but it was his responsibility to guarantee a safe environment in his school. There are many testimonies from students who said that bullying was never punished. Drugs and alcohol were consumed and there was an inequality of consideration between athletes and other students. This tragedy is so sad. So many lives lost because of people who didn't do their job properly.
As a resident of Aurora in 8th grade, I will never, ever forget that day. All the victims suffered horribly, both the dead and the survivors.I worked with a Columbine survivor years ago, and she had recurring panic attacks and couldn’t go into crowded places. I hope she and all the other survivors and families have found a level of healing.
One of the saddest events in education history and one event that would set off a chain of terrible people and innocent-ish children who have their full lives ahead of them
When my parents were my age they were afraid of going to school out of fear of getting teased. I am afraid of going to school out of fear of getting shot.
school shootings aren’t very common. You only hear about them so much because they are rare. There are so many high schools and so little of them get shot up.
Teachers said the same thing in the '50s with the absurdly misguided "Duck and Cover" drills, as if hiding under a wood desk would protect kids from an atomic bomb.
I’m wondering if they were among the 12 people who died in the library.... the teacher kept saying under the table, if they were those kids who died, probably not following what the teacher said could have been safer at that time.
@@LunaGuinevereStudio According to eyewitness reports, the killers taunted some of the kids who were hiding under the tables before they shot them. Some were killed, some were wounded.
I was bullied at school. One day the bullying got so bad that I broke down and started crying in front of my friends telling them I wanted to go home. I wanted to leave the school and never return. Not once did I think about murdering those bullies. You have to be sick in the head to plan out a murder rampage like this
I was also bullied throughout my highschool thats why my past memories there was awful. If i have a gun i prolly did as well but only to that one person that really bully me.
Lindsey Henderson come on cut her sum slack that was a pretty scary situation she was just trying to save them the best way she knew how, hard to think it situations as scary as that
my heart broke when john said “we were video game nerds”. i can’t imagine how he and the others that were in that group must have felt when they were associated with the shooting in the media. that stuff follows you around forever.
Not really. It was squashed pretty quickly. Infact. People see them as two people that went on a killing spree. Some see it as a bullying revenge but when reading diaries and such you know it was much more than that. I don’t think anybody ties them to that group anymore.
@@ninanickel3103 I went to high school the year after Columbine, in Colorado, about an hour away from the location of the shooting. I can assure you that the nerds and outcasts were treated with a great deal of extra suspicion (on top of the normal amount) for at least a couple years afterward, especially the ones who wore trench coats, baggy canvas rain coats, and/or the baggy JNCO jeans.
You should probably start treating people well, because they want to be loved too. Not because you're afraid of being the victim of a school shooter. Stay safe.
It has always been the same Shooting happened back then just as much as today but the news gets more advanced and if something happens now it's on it. Columbine was just such a shock it was on the news. And now their is so much on the news it's not a surprise to us even though it still should be a shock since it still is as uncommon as it was back then.
No, Eric recognized him from under the table and walked away. Dylan saw that dude, who was also his friend and didn't intend to shoot him whatsoever. Being friends with Dylan actually saved his life

The bigger issue is that normalizing animosity isn’t the way. We should learn to respect each other at the very least and acknowledge people’s differences: backgrounds, struggles, personalities, and whatnot. Bullying is avoidable in a society. If you ultimately don’t like someone just look the other way and don’t think/care about that person. Life’s too short to just obsessively hate on things. Smh. I wasn’t ever bullied in school especially as I got older, so I know it’s possible.
“What would you have said to the Columbine shooters?” “I wouldn’t have said anything, I would have listened, and that’s what no one did.” - Marilyn Manson
@Hoppy According to the documentary Zero Hour, John Savage was somewhat of a friend to the two shooters which is apparently why they let him live. They told him to leave, which he did. Another student who was with the teacher who died was told by Eric earlier that "he liked him" and to "go home."
I was born on April 19 the day before, at Lutheran. Which for those that don’t know is in wheat Ridge. My dad told me how he felt and what was going through his head, while holding new born me in the hospital, while watching the live news on the shooting. What he said still haunts me 2 years later and will forever haunt me. While he was telling me this he started to cry heavily. Out of the 23 years I have been alive, he has only told me this once. This changed history and society. My dad knew I would have to grow up in this society. It was so haunting.
smokeninja980 People will say “The killers did no wrong!” and will say “If I was in their life, they wouldn’t have done this and would have been quirky little cinnamon rolls UwU”
@ True. They need to teach kids that the opinions of others don't matter all that much and that bullies are usually just really insecure people who take it out on others. Nowadays they're so soft they cry in a room full of participation trophys plotting on killing other kids cause they're weak.
@ well, it definitely never received the proper attention until now, people might let it pass before but now they take actions, that is not overreacting, you fool
@ yeah its been around since forever. As the saying goes tough times create strong people and strong people create good times and good times create weak people.
@ Bullying now follows them everywhere and in other schools because of internet now. We've also stopped normalizing it - it's not because something "has been around since the beginning of times" that it should be allowed to continue now is it ?
@Bonkers I think he said so that the kids that were in preschool when it happened all the way up to seniors would be graduated. Sort of an end of an era type of thing.
The fact that bullying was a main motive in this shooting shows how little effort schools put into anti-bullying programs or stopping bullying overall.
Retribution John savage was a member of their “Trench Coat Mafia” (Although he didn’t do the stuff Eric and Dylan did) and Dylan and Eric likes him so they spared his life. John savage wasn’t considered a jock or a nerd he was one of them....
Bullying is something that only happens in school and on the internet because there is no punishment for it and nothing gets done until the bullied reach there limit and loss of there own or others lives happen
A kid at my highschool got arrested for threatening to “make columbine look like a joke” and watching this video is haunting cause he very easily could’ve done it if he wasn’t caught.
When i was a junior a kid threatened it on social media. No one knew who at first. But he said what day. I begged... BEGGED with tears streaming down my face for my mother not to take me to school that day. She did anyway. Erics mother held a conference a few years back. She talked about how conflicted she feels. She lost her child, but her child took others children from them. She talks about how she feels partly responsible, but also how she feels that in the eyes of others, she shouldn't be allowed to grieve her sons death. I know those parents probably wanted someone to blame for their kids deaths, and since the shooters were dead, they went after the shooters families. I can't imagine the pain and guilt their mothers and fathers feel every day, and for something that was not their faults.
Yes I feel for all the parents and families I just don’t have remorse for the shooters . Anybody feel bad for nick Cruz (parkland) no I don’t either but there is something serious wrong with him the boy didn’t have a family and off his meds he didn’t shoot him self either I digress we’re all evil
I also agree. Especially now with how COVID-19 conditions are affecting students and faculty members mental health. People are mentally stressed from the heavy workloads to the fear of contracting COVID-19 from others. Therapists would be able to help in situations like these to help prevent people from having breakdowns which could possibly lead to shootings.
Then care about how much teachers are getting paid as well, the rich don’t care and are shoving kids and schools under their grimy feet making it a bad situation for everyone

We sat on the crib room floor with 9 babies for 3 hours. All i could think about was Columbine. I never remembered any of their names but recently have seen this come up in my feed. This makes me sick. I couldn’t imagine what those kids who lost their lives that day were thinking. They probably had big dreams and couldn’t wait to get out of high school. Couldn’t wait to start families, get their dream jobs. Each and every one of the students who went to school that day thought it was just going to be another day, waiting for each class to end to get closer to the end of the day to do the activities they planned after school, but instead they went through the most traumatic experience of their lives and some even losing them. Another thing, Mental instability, crime and suicide are one of the worst things that as a society we can push people to. Most brain damage is reversible with proper treatment and modern day psychology hasn't changed much in the last 150 years and refuses to acknowledge some of the latest advances. What I'm saying is: it's possible we can help Mentally unstable people become stable and help them integrate into society and prevent disasters like these, sorry for the long read.
The Insomniac Scientist that very true, but one of things to think of when someone has a mental illness is that you can only help them if they want to be helped. You can send them to therapy and give them the medical attention they need but it won’t work unless that person is willing do to the treatments. By the way these boy’s writ in their journals they didn’t want to be help they just want to die and make others suffer.
Nia Weary agreed, however almost all mental illness’s start out in patients when they are young children usually from injuries when they were babies or they were born with them, so i guess it shouldn’t be too difficult to get them comfortable with the idea of getting help.
I obviously agree with you. As a mature gentleman myself from Lakemba, New South Wales, Australia. It is very important for every institutions especially our schools to have anti-bullying programs, loneliness awareness, mental illness awareness, strong security & weapon control to try to make the world a kinder safer place for our society period. I am not saying we should be paranoid what I really mean is that we should be very cautious of any boy, any girl, any man and any woman who possesses any dangerous weapons because it is a matter of time before they start going on a deadly rampage which they will end up harming & murdering innocent people. Also they will harm themselves which would lead them to commit suicide. That is why it is very important to connect with people who are struggling with any problems in their life both mentally & physically. To all my fellow human brothers and sisters around the world stay safe & always remember be genuine & take care of one another.
I remember hearing the teacher's 911 call 20 years ago as an 18 year old... "down on the floor kids." Absolute fear and sadness overwhelmed me then and continues to this day as a 38 year old. Horrific situation.
Exactly. It’s not that they were bullied. In fact, they weren’t bullied. People with clinical depression rationalize things so it’s easy to see how they could think that.
This is one of the reason why things like that happen Normalizing a problem just because it happen frequently It's one of the stupidest things you can do
Bullying is going to happen there’s no stopping it. The real danger isn’t People aren’t normalizing bullying, it’s people normalizing revenge violence as a justified action. Every human will be picked on or bullied at some point in life. The answer isn’t to try and get rid of bullying, the answer is in how we teach our children to deal with it. You can’t nerf the world so people don’t get there feeling hurt... you must make people stronger that way there feelings aren’t as easily hurt and if they are hurt they are strong enough to know that is only a temporary feeling.
Matthew o'riordan amen brother Only the strong survive in all aspects in life and you’ll see the smaller, weaker sects of different species on earth all being picked on. There’s always the runts in society and we can’t blame our natural instincts on forcing people to go commit horrible crimes

It’s sad that loners, introverts, or outcasts were and are blamed and stereotyped as likely school shooters. This video just proved that a person can be social and still be a murder. As someone who just graduated from high school and spent one month with a teacher in elementary, the stuff that kids, some who were very social, shared with us was really alarming. That’s why schools should be doing more in investing in quality mental well-being for all students especially during this time when people are becoming more attached to their phones and it’s easier to fall into a toxic community online.

As a loner, most of us aren’t a threat to anyone but ourselves. The stigma we get for being shy, awkward, or strange only makes it worse
psychopaths also have an undeserved bad reputation
As a very quiet and “ominous person” it gets really hard. I’ve only ever harmed myself. I have people in class joke about me doing something crazy, some are even scared of me. But once I warm up around them they see I’m no threat. It’s just sad I have to prove I won’t hurt anyone 😔

They talked about this case and after extensively investigating this crime for about 36 months The F.B.I came to the conclusion that the biggest urban legend and myth was Harris & Klebold were often bullied prior to this rampage.. The opposite in fact happened. --- --- It was Klebold and Harris (Especially Harris) who bullied others.. He spared that mans life under the table in a moment of mercy, that is why you should always be nice to everyone. Keep that in mind before being rude or disrespectful.
Its because he was part of the Black Trench Coat club or something, they were in a friend group together. Stop shifting the blame of being a murderer onto being “rude.” No one, not even bullies deserve to be killed. They killed innocent students as well.
double chinned man, I was stating that he could have killed him in an instant, instead sparing him. I do think that knowing him may have been a factor, but they were alredy planning suicide, no need for morals. They may have not felt guilty, and they weren't best friends or anything either. I'm sorry that I disagree with you, but those are my thoughts. I was also stating that being kind probably was part of the mercy given. He had never picked on them, never excluded them, never hurt them, but instead was welcoming and somewhat friendly. I am not saying that is a guarantee for survival, but bullying or exclusion is awful anyways and no one should do it.

@@jonathanbeck7580 which is 100% the truth. i don’t understand the issue
This is why you don't bully anyone in school and it will end up in a horrible situation. Parents teach your kids don't bully another kid in school, any school you're in don't bully anyone even if they look different than you, you don't know if someone is having hard time with their life or something else, you don't bully people it's NOT right.
Even if you were bullied, its not a excuse to go out and killing innocent children that had nothing to do with the bullying.
