- niche swiss perfumer andy tauer lanched "sotto la luna gardenia" at a special event at the seymour place branch of les senteurs in london, england, on the ninth of september 2014. andy was kind enough to talk to me about his newest fragrance, the inspiration behind the name and a little about how it actually smells like.
a huge thank you to andy for being so generous with his time and for answering the huge number of questions i asked off camera. also, many thanks to callum and the guys at les senteurs for hosting the event and providing drinks and nibbles.

please forgive the shakiness of the video, i was not expecting to be able to interview andy as i knew how incredibly busy he was for the entire day. this meant that i did not bring my bloody tripod with me! hence the iffy nature of the image. i hope this doesn't do too much to discourage your viewing pleasure.

Oh my but this was wonderful. So nice to get to see and hear Andy on camera. Fascinating to hear his inspiration and intent behind Soto la Luna Gardenia. Thank you so very much Lucid for doing this. I am in heaven ...so admire Andy and his work.
lanier my friend, i am so happy to hear that you enjoyed this. andy was so generous with his time (given how many other people were there to see him), and, honestly, he's one the nicest guys i've ever met. kind, honest, very down to earth. his knowledge of perfumery is insane too!
I just adore him. We are hoping he will someday come to our little town and charm us all!

Wow! So neat to hear him talk about his vision of this gardenia in the earth at night under light of the moon. I loved this, thank you and awesome that you were there, edd.
yeah, andy is such a nice guy. genuine, kind honest and humble too. it was such a pleasure to be able to talk to him for as long as i did. we chatted about a tonne of other stuff off cam too. which, if there was more space on my memory card, i would have captured as well. oh, and the fragrance is amazing!

Edd, I love the stories, the artistry in perfumary. I want to learn more. How does one do that? I once wrote to Les Senteurs and they wrote back with some samples. Do you think I can do some sort of voluntary work experience with them?

A meet up would be great, but the next couple of months are gonna be a struggle for. Will deffo happen though. Look forward to what you have in store on the channel :)
This man is without a doubt the Michael Jackson of master perfumers. There was nobody like him. there is nobody like him, and there will not be anybody like him. You can easily blind buy any of his perfumes and for certain it can become your signature scent. Andy Tauer has my utmost respect as a the greatest genius master perfumer of all times.
