    Hi, great models! Did you skip the UV mapping part? Can you do this models without UV's? because when it's just a solid Color I think that would work, but when you put theses stamps on the Sheets for the bed, does that still work?

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need to have UVs to texture models.

    Loved your end result.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its done in marmoset toolbag, its as easy as just importing the textures in the correct slot of the material.

  • @MariaLopez-mf7sj
    @MariaLopez-mf7sj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How did you smooth it when you had all the modeling done?
    Cause when you're in Maya the bed is more polygonal and when you go to the other program the mesh is more smooth.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made a copy in Maya and beveled the edges and exportrd that as my high poly. In substance painter I baked the normal maps and other channels using that as my high poly and unto the low poly.

    I have one question about your for-sell tutorial on Stylized materials and SP. It's said that it's step by step etc, however I'd like to know if it will force you to buy extras in order to follow it (and how long it is). I'm asking since I've been burned already lol.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to buy an extra 2 tutorials and then another 1 for the full experience, kidding. Are you talking about "how to make a stylized material" one? Its close to 20 mins. Only thing you need to make sure you have the correct version of Substance Painter(its in the description in gumroad) It shows how to make the stylized material I always use in my videos, nothing more nothing less.

    EDIT: Great build by the way.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just used to it, don't really feel like the software is preventing me from making anything. I do plan to try out Blender, but only once their latest update is out of beta and released to the public.

      Why use literally any piece of software vs literally any other piece of software. Personal preference, it's what you have access to, it's what you know how to use, availability of certain plugins or other tools, industry standards, and a host of other reasons.

    1. Good job. I really like what you did here, but
    2. I would never buy Maya and Substance Painter to achieve same results because
    3. We have Blender for that so
    4. This video actual for those who work at studio that owns those software, still
    5. I would buy Maya and SP if I had to do more complex models like characters and other organic stuff for future animation
    Thanks for video. Added to favs.

      just make a cube and rescale it to your desired plank size, then use duplicate special to multiply them along an axis, finally just translate each plank to the left or right a bit

  • @emilianojsaiz
    @emilianojsaiz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You forgot to include unwrapping. That is a huge step and without it you wouldn't be able to do many things in substance.
    Next time document it better so you don't get people confused.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Because this is a speed model I just used automatic uvs for it; I don't include that because I also don't want to give people the impression that it's ok to just use automatic uvs.

    • @bearwolffish
      @bearwolffish 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not a tutorial it's a time laps speed model. But since he's using substance painter and not painting the UV bitmap by hand, he probably just used the flatten bitmap (auto unwrap) option, you only need to worry about unwrapping properly if the UV needs be clean and human readable.
