Awesome to see Anderson and finally meet him. Thank you for introducing him! And it was nice to see you as well, Alana! I don't have much advice to offer about your tilling, just wanted to say Congrats! Keep the videos coming, buddy.
I had never thought about using the box blade for that. I bought a 5 foot tiller for my CK2610 and its the best purchase I ever made. Don't worry about rocks. As long as you get a forward rotating tiller, the rocks just make a little noise. They do tend to get stuck in the reverse rotating tillers though. As I'm sure you already know, you can't get everything at once. Buy toys as you can and make do with what you have in the meantime. Good work, and congrats on the boy.
Using that kind of like a tine harrow. it would help if you went crisscross a bunch of different ways to break it up better. I also looked kind of muddy it should be a little bit drier than that before you do that. By doing that anyway will help it dry out better and then you can go over it again a few more times. At least those look like small rocks. A good heavy duty tiller would go right through that. Also if you will a little bit faster it would help to break it up better. you could get some kids to throw the rocks in the front bucket as you go over that again and again. And it gets better each time.
Congratulations. Glad to hear all is well. I got a 60" box blade for my tractor, i never would've thought of that. It worked out great. I'll have to try that out. Done great removing the top soil too. A good friend of mine in high school 40 plus years ago was named AJ. For the life of me i can't remember his name other than A.J. I think Andy is fine. Its great that he will grow up knowing how to work, farm, and enjoy the freedoms that you had growing up. Awesome...
many congratulations on starting your family! You and your wife will get great joy from the new addition to your family. I know an Andrew and he is known as Andy his son is Andrew Junior and everyone calls him AJ so I don't want to get into the middle of the dispute but his personality guide you in the name. But, best wishes from West Central Wisconsin
Congratulations to both of you folks for the beautiful baby you have been blessed with. Hopefully you both will come to the agreement with the name you’ll call him. Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy your baby!!👍👍. Fred.
AJ for sure.you need a disc to get this cut up if your not going w a tiller.if you work it all up good w a disc then again in the spring so the sod is smaller you could use a field cultivator or a chisel plow but the other way around will plug up a chisel plow.know your other options are a one bottom 12" plow or a tree spare single tooth rolls dirt both ways.make a few passes to go deeper.n a post hole digger works good for busses n trees.i have them all just so you know.n don't work mud it will cause compaction problems later.turns to concrete n nothing goes.
Ballast would help with your traction. Beet juice filled rear tires makes a huge difference. My preferred ballast for the front is a 800 lbs honey locust log in the FEL set a few inches off the ground so it also helps prevent tipping over.
Congratulations and welcome to AJ! Went through the same exercise with my box blade in heavy clay soil. Results were better than hand digging but I was hoping for better. Going to look for longer shanks for next time.
Be sure to keep the box level. I actually bent the upper hydraulic shaft by tilting it to far forward to push the rippers deeper. It looked like a J. It cost about $400 to replace the 1.25” rod and rebuild the cylinder.
Congrats! I actually just ripped up my garden with my box blade yesterday. It definitely works, but you just have to angle the box and lower the rippers all the way.
Congratulations to both of you. Rural life is the best way to grow up. I love blueberries, have 12 bushes and find picking them so relaxing. You did a great job with the box blade. I've used a single tyne ripper in tha past, needs lots of passes but gets down nice and deep. I got AG tyres put on when I bought the tractor and have never regretted it. Future video suggestion, how to prune blueberries. Hope you're all ok up there.
Congrats and we like AJ. I’m guessing you were doing rows to plant the blueberries. It works really well doing a garden spot where you can cut from different angles. I did a video a while back “Spring Tillage” showing my box blade working up my garden for the 3rd year and seems to work better each year. Once again congrats take care brother.
@@HometownAcres no problem man, take care of that new guy, and get your sleep when you can, when he naps you nap!! lol A.J for everyday and Andy when he'sin trouble
Congratulations, Adam! Kids are such a blessing and your lives will never be the same! I totally agree with you about the box blade - it’s so versatile it will do just about anything you need. And I totally agree about the tires. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought my tractor with ag tires instead of industrials. The industrials just don’t get good traction in loose or muddy soil.
Chisel plow for sure , or by a cheap box that has all rippers. And cut off the box that will give you all the depth you can get out of that setup .Young man im disabled and use a 5 horse rotary tiller in Southern Tennessee dirt you dont have a rock problem use your tiller in that dirt . They are tough and I've seen them hit rocks and lift all out of the cut and set right back down and barely noticed the difference. Best wishes on the child. My oldest is 38 .It goes fast it really does ...
Best investment you will ever make would be a good box tiller. You can always find good used ones for sale online at auctions etc. You will never want to use disk etc again and the rocks dont hurt it just make lighter passes till you get to full depth.. so useful for so many things.
Congratulations from me as well! I think that this cute little boy looks like an Andy or Andie to me. But A.J. sounds alright, too. Eitherway, I with you all the best of luck and a bright future!
Congratulations to you two!! He is definitely precious! And nice job Adam with the box blade, that shows you have patience if I tried that it would look like a motocross track Lol 👍
Hometown Acres Absolutely, I was supposed to ship off to airforce basic training March 31st, now I’m in limbo waiting for a new date to ship, but I should get to be here for her birth, so I’m siked about that!
angle bo x so blade is highest. set teeth at higest hole and make your passes a few times then, move down a shnak hole, afew passes, move down etcetc. you will put less strain on the equip and you will have a better broken up clay/soil. the turf mat is really the hardest part.
Good evening Adam. Congratulations on the new arrival. Makes life worthwhile - you'll see. Have many. Re: the name. I can tell you that you and the wifey will never agree and as he grows, you will end up calling him what you want, even though it might not sit well with your wifey. Trust me - 3 girls - same issue with every one of them. LOL. She'll still love ya but will constantly correct you 27 years later. :)) Not kidding. LOL. Take care and love every minute. They grow up far too quick. Cheers!
Congratulations Daddy! So happy for you buddy! The box blade did a good job. I vote for A.J. because it sounds similar to the name of a pretty cool guy I know lol 😅
I vote Andy my name is Andrew and I sometimes go by Andy. Also seems like boxblade works well I may use mine in the same way from time to time after seeing this.
You did a great job using what you have on hand. It's not what you have, but how you use it. 36 blue berry bushes? We are in the 3rd year with 25 bushes and will have around 20+ lbs of berries, get creative with the coming harvest and you will have a whole lot of new friends giving them away. Keep the soil acidifided and fertilize with , holytone found at Wal-Mart or on Amazon. Good luck and keep up the great work!
Grats Adam and Lana. We had all girls and our baby is 13 now. Do have 1 granddaughter to, she turned 1 in December. I like AJ but ultimately it's your decision, either one would be great. Surprised at what the box blade did too, not bad. Started some backhoe work around the house to rewaterproof it. Working out good but it's been raining so darn much. Have a good one.
My parents are in the same boat. Dropping 11k on getting an interior French drain and 2 sub pumps. They been flooded 3 springs in a row. Got a 25 year guarentee. Worth it to have a waterproofing coming so it just for the guarantee
Whoooop!!!! Congratulations from Germany 🤘🤘🤘 have 2 Boys aswell (7& soon to be 4). Enjoy the time with your beloved ones:-) he will soon (sooner as you think) hi-jack your tractor 😂🤣
For some reason my first comments did not make it here. I was thinking that it is common practice here to plant them on a mound and mulch heavily. Is that what you plan to do,or something else?
Did the same, putting the rippers all the way down and adjusting top link so they dug in. Where I am, there are a zillion roots and it rips them and pulls them out, so I end up with 4ft piles of roots and sod. After the first passes like pictured at the end of your vid, I readjusted top-link again so the rippers weren't so aggressive to level and clear debris, then put the rippers down again and made more ripping passes before finally leveling one more time. This is now the one place in my field I can floor it in the tractor, everything else is a slow, bumpy ride. ;)
Good job. I think it would have come out better if you backed up with the box blade to remove all the grass then drove forward with the teeth in the ground to help with the runs.
Congratulations on your new son kids r great you'll b running after him in a year or so lol! Where I live we have to do a raised bed garden to many rocks and clay.
congrats . on your now 4 year old. you need to cross your rows as if you go down the same line they will not break up the area. 45 degree or 60 or 90 degree all work
You could try to use that ripper as a rototiller but it's going to turn out really rough. That's really more like you had a disc on it, not a rototiller. Even a plow might do a better job then rippers. You will just have to go over it several times at different angles. If the ground is really hard you should water down pretty good at least a day or two before you try to rip it and if it's dusty should add water while you're ripping it to. The ground should be moist but not muddy. Definitely go back and forth and different angles or zig zag and every time you go back and forth zig zag a little bit different pattern so you never following the same pattern. That should break it up quite a bit better. As far as tires go, once the tread is filled with mud it doesn't matter what the tread type is. Also for planting seed or transplanting seedlings you don't need to break it up a foot deep, only the top few inches.
Congratulations and nice job, I have a kioti ck40 and I'm in the market to buy a box blade for some soil work at my property, what size is yours? I was looking at the ones on everything attachments, they look stout but im just confused on the widths, 72" seems to be good but I don't want to go to big and then find out that I cant pull it due to the weight of it with dirt, or with the ripper shanks all the way down, I have almost the same type of soil as you (NNJ)
I have the Kioti Ck3510 hydrostatic. I have the 72” box blade by Kioti. I’m not sure who makes for them. The 72” will be built heavier duty than a 60” and the extra weight helps to dig down better. What I ended up doing at the end to dig down farther was only drop the middle 3 times so I wasn’t trying to pull as much material. It worked much better and I could really bite deep with just the 3 tines
Congratulations for the baby! Just call him «baby». Next thing he will be saying: «I'm not a baby any longer», then you'll decide what to do. About the implement you'd better use something with chisels and springs.

Use your loader to scoop up some dirt or gravel for added weight over front axle. You will see huge difference in traction.
Good luck
Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to try that
