It's always a joy seeing someone else listen to Plini for the first time. One of the most talented songwriters of our time and my absolute favorite guitarist.
Im actually super happy to tell you Plini is in fact one guy for the most part. Im just not sure about the drums. I know he had someone play for him, but don't know if he's responsible for the actual track writing itself.
Will never forget my friend was brought to tears hearing this for the first time live. And she doesnt listen to anything other than pop artists usually. Such a beautiful band
Plini is incredible, his whole discography is just so good. Saw him and his boys on tour with Periphery earlier this year before everything went to crap and it was easily one of the best live prog/metal/rock shows I've ever been to. Just so insanely talented!
I discovered Plini on accident a few years ago and this dude has become the soundtrack of my life! As his music evolves with every new release, Plini is distinctly exploring new soundscapes, yet he is staying true to himself and his unique sound. Favorite tracks: 1. Ill tell you someday 2. Ko Ki 3. "Kind" 4. Every Piece Matters and the lead for Helix Nebula's "Sailing Stone" is ABSOLUTELY mind blowing...Id like to hear more from Plini in that genre actually, but whatever direction he chooses im along for the ride!
@@Guitarz4Lyf I just discovered your channel yesterday...I like the format and your style! If you haven't already discovered him, check out Owane. He's running a close second IMO to Plini. I grew up listening to R+B /Funk/Progressive Rock, and it seems Owane is tapping into all of that...sometimes in just one song. His Bass and guitar work is equally impressive on "Love Juice" th-cam.com/video/B49oIi5YT_w/w-d-xo.html It would be awesome to see you review some of his music!
My favourite guitar player of this generation. Besides his entire production, check the band Arch Echo ("Color Wheel", "Immediate Results!"), they toured together a couple of times.
Great reaction man, mine was absolutely the same when I first heard the song years ago. As for the album artwork I believe Plini (the guitarist's actual name) said that everything on the album was just stuff that he liked or stuff made him happy. A simple yet cool concept.
Selenium Forest by Plini is one of my favorite songs of all time. If you like this bright beautiful cadence, you can venture into a band that few people react to, and that's Scale the Summit. Their song Atlas Novus has a similar cadence to Electric Sunrise, but with a flavor all it's own. The whole album The Migration is a fucking treat.
After your Polyphia reactions, I knew it was only a matter of time before people recommended Plini haha. I'd super highly recommend reacting to Intervals songs 'I'm Awake' and 'Libra' (ft. Plini!!). Like Plini, though, they lean more prog than math rock and, especially with 'Libra' you'd find way more instrumentally similar stuff under 'Swancore'. Not sure how familiar you are with Dance Gavin Dance, but basically that psudo-math-prog-RnB-esque sounding stuff (Will Swan is DGD lead-guitarist and basically put the sound on the map).
Chace you were exactly right! Haha I've added those to my list, so I'll definitely get to them. Thank you for the suggestions and info. I had no idea "Swancore" was even a thing. This should be exciting.
I love The way u geeked out at the beginning, was my exact reaction when I 1st heard this song too, I cried , I laughed, I danced. This song takes on a life on its own. A masterpiece
I used to shit on reaction channels, but as I've started listening to more and more music, I've absolutely loved seeing people hear music for the first time like I did and just show their appreciation for the music. Been enjoying watching your reactions to Chon and Plini so far man keep it up, dropped a sub. Reminds me of when I first discovered them.
I greatly appreciate the love David! I have thoroughly enjoyed diving into these new styles of music for me, and learning so much from our community here that continues to help, support, and guide me on this music journey. I greatly appreciate it brother and will add that to my list to get to.
So glad you enjoyed this man!! These guys are such a treat to discover. This entire album is great, as well as Kind, which introduces a lot more jazzy elements. Try Inhale, Kind, or Flaneur (ft. Anomalie). Great reaction man 👍🏻
About the panning mixing in this track: You should check out Blank Banshee or Holly Herndon if you want to hear some high-level interesting mixing. Blank Banshee is an electronic artist, but it's not dance music. It's heavily inspired by the vaporwave trend, but their compositions are a lot bigger than that pigeon hole. A great song is Frozen Flame. Holly Herndon is also an electronic musician, but more on the general experimental side of things. She's a great singer and a lot of her compositions seem to be experiments in voice. Her production is out of this world, though. Morning Sun is a fascinating listen.
Cool reaction man. About a year back I got to meet this dude at one of his masterclasses, (I think it’s called a master class) at the JMC Music Academy in Brisbane. Dudes super talented and real humble, he can be a bit of a goof at times, well thats what I kinda picked up on. But when it came to music he’s definitely a master of his crafts. There’s a reason why Steve Vai praised the dude by saying he’s “the future of exceptional guitar playing” he was also labeled best Prog Guitarist of 2017. In your spear time man you should check out “Plini x Kendrick Lamar - Away” A few people don’t really like this one because he tried something different and fused PROG Rock with Rap. Personally I think it’s awesome, the creativity he has is just amazing.
Yo! Thank you and that's awesome. I will make sure I react to that one on here. Kendrick Lamar is a fantastic rapper, so I'm curious what that combo would be.
Plini went to JMC last year? brooooooooooooooooooooooooooo My friend who introduced me to Plini graduated from there two years back haha, he'll probably shit himself

There isn’t a bad Plini song out there, but selenium Forest is a great one to check out. It’s actually an older song of his, but still excellent. If you get the urge to check out similar type artists then David Maxim Micic(meecheech) is an excellent guitarist and all around musician. His song “daydreamers” off of his 3rd solo project album Bilo III has one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. “Someone else’s hat“ by David is also a great song. Glad to see more Plini reactions, his music has some sort of crazy optimistic energy to it.
Stay tuned Thomas! Every Piece Matters is uploading tomorrow. I'll add those 2 to my list as well. Hope to see you in the comments on that video tomorrow! =)
