    I always get to the messy ugly part of a painting and get discouraged, I love the way you make it obvious to keep going, keep adding.

      I am totally a beginner and know what you mean. One time though as I was following this eyeball tutorial by a different artist, I was having that discouraged feeling so I got up and walked away. When I came back like an hour later would you believe someone must have finished it for me? Lol

    I love this, I actually got a little emotional, lol. Its a simple thing but I've never seen anyone blend paint with their hands like that before - it makes so much sense! Incredible work.

    • @slecuyer21
      @slecuyer21 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It is a pretty common blending technique, you just need to be okay with getting a little more messy😊

    • @Feenix102
      @Feenix102 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mm, honestly its one I haven't seen much of. Messy is fine, I think art should be messy - my point was, I guess, the tactility of it, actually touching it is very appealing to me. :)

    I've always found the part you said could be tedious & repetitious the most relaxing & therapeutic. I could just get lost in it while the world & all it's problems melted away. Then, as my vision would start to come to life, a beautiful feeling of exciting fulfilment would bloom & blossom!

    The way you painted this makes it look like the darkness is trying to choke the candle. Idk how to describe it, it makes the background look like a physical space

    Thank you so much Chuck, for painting a realistic flame on a candle. I am in the process of drawing and then painting a log fire, the one's you have at a camp site etc. The process will be very challenging for me to do, as I am still in the learning stages of my painting.. Like you have said, 'just keep on going and see where it leads you'. Although my drawing and painting skills are very amateurish, I will have a go and see what I come up with. Thank you again for showing on how to paint the glow of the flame etc.. (Angela, from Australia)..

    I'm just amazed that there are Artists out there who are not afraid to use their bare fingers to blend paint on Canvas, be it in Acrylics or Oils. Reminds me of Adult version of Children's finger painting.

    I've come back to this video multiple times now over the last 2 years or so and I absorb something new from it each time.
    🎨Really love the way you describe what & why you're doing things. Especially love the tip to blend with fingers. Whenever I instinctually use my fingers for something when painting I feel silly for using "bad technique" ... so it's nice to see that it can actually be a good technique. :)

But after watching you paint for so long and to see the time and the labor you put into all of your paintings is the reason I am drawn in to your works. I'm using this to paint this strong light that is casting on my character, It's a very close to the camera portrait. I want the light on the face to be so strong that it almost seems too be the light source itself. Where the light is, the features get simplified. Thanks it's very helpful!

    Just Gorgeous Chuck! I will be trying this little guy out soon, hopefully tomorrow. I've been painting for about 7 months, and I look at things so differently now. Clouds, Trees..... buildings.... you name it. I always see a potential painting. lol I'm hooked. I am in it to stay, and I am so eager to learn new things. I am just in a daze when I watch your videos. They are very very helpful, and I get sucked in every time. I don't get to paint as often as I wish, Work kinda gets in the way.....but I did finish an Eagle the other day, as my husband requested me to do one for him. Would I be able to PM you the photo, through your Facebook page?? I would love to show it to you...and get your input on it... Now mind you I AM A BEGINNER, haha, and so willing to learn more and more constantly. I don't expect a miracle over night...haha I tried my best, and I had to be in Eagle MOOD to paint it. I took about a week to finish it. So let me know if that would be okay, I just checked PM and it seems to open fine from your FB Page. (Sorry for the long comment) Cheers! ;)

    how would you go about the lighting of an object below the candle? for example, I'm wanting to paint a skull below, holding the candle up. would I use the same concept you used for the light hitting the candle itself or would I use a glaze of red/black mixture? or would I use just a glaze of yellow to represent the light?
