I had a hard time figuring out the power level of these decks, but I'm glad it played out to a decent game. These seem like 'High power' decks, but Mana crypt, Ad Nauseam, Fierce Guardianship... there's almost sprinklings of cEDH, but it's not quuuiiiiite there? I could see this match up going very poorly on another iteration. But glad you got a good recording.
Those are definitely not even close to cEDH. The cards you described are in competitive, but the decks themselves are not. I’ve watched Andrew’s games for a while and they seem to enjoy casual stuff mostly.
Yeah our decks are definitely not CEDH, but still on the higher end of the power scale. Andrew does like weaker decks but he knew what he was getting into with us haha.
It ended up not mattering too much this game, but the hall of the bandit lord did soooo much damage...to give 2/2's and 3/3's haste?? Not a fan of it in a party deck (I have one myself) but you do you! Wild game nonetheless 🤯✌️
Now that Queza came out, I kinda regret building my Nekusar deck, cause Queza basically does what Nekusar does but better because you're draining the opponent's life(which prevent damge spells don't work on life drain effects)for you drawing cards instead of damaging opponents for them drawing. Also, she's cheaper to cast then Nekusar and she's in Esper, the color combination that has access to great control magic via great removal spells, etc.
@@nicholasfarrell5981 It wouldn't be too difficult, but I already put queza in my Oloro deck so it's whatever at this point. Besides I just need to get lich's mastery and I have another win con for that deck via Queza/lich's mastery combo.
@@nicholasfarrell5981It's moving from Grixis to Esper. So, anything with Red needs to be removed. It's not huge but it's probably around a quarter of the deck, between the red wheels, the red/x pieces, and the red ramp. Also, since Queza is your draw and Nekusar is their draw, there's going to be some differences in how you're trying to wheel. Example might be Bone Miser vs. Waste Not. Bone Miser is probably better in Queza, Waste not would be better in Nekusar. There's probably some universal draw effects that should be swapped out with only you draw effects. All that said, Queza doing to target opponent when you draw vs. Nekusar's damage to them when they draw means that Queza is likely built less explosive and more grindy.
6:38 Why would you not sacrifice the Selfless Spirit to it's own ability to make your creatures indestructible in response the the damage if it's going to the graveyard anyway?
I'm a bit confused. How did the Preordain at the end not cause an infinite loop and cause John to draw all his cards? He drew cards, causing him to gain more life, which causes him to draw more cards since Lich's Mastery is in play. Am I missing something?
2 creature cards, generally the first one says "o: redirect the next 1 dmg this creature would take to target creature you control" and the second one says "whenever this creature becomes the target of an ability give it +0/+2" You can activate the first one an infinite number of times targeting the second creature, thus giving the second creature an infinitely large butt. Ayli then sacs that creature to gain life equal to toughness

I mean, how difficult would it be to get the pieces to play Queza instead, or just switch parts around to have both available?

You're not. He drew his whole library. I forgot to mention it, but it was part of the issue with him not being able to win by drawing Arca out.
