Do you believe that such close encounters between US and Chinese naval forces are a necessary deterrent to maintain global peace, or do they increase the risk of a potential conflict? Why? 👇

...to gain your attention, so you would watch and gain knowledge.
War games are "played" on a regular basis. In each quadrant of the Earth 🌎
They are performed for many reasons, to assess the capabilities of each side...reconnaissance, fire power, to see if they've/we've changed something with the ship...each shop is highly documented and studied to the bolts. If you're into practicing your craft, and you get to perfect your skill, so that heaven forbid your skills were called upon -- you would know what the f you're doing and do it competently, with speed and precision.
Other drills not quite so fun, but *each* drill is to save your live and that of your crewmembers...especially at Sea.
I was 10 yrs active duty in aviation and my first duty station and most fun tour, was in an antisubmarine warfare squadron, VP5 at NAS JAX. The "flaps" were the best❤🇺🇸 VP squadrons regularly tracked Russian subs from the North Pole to the South Pole, one squadron doing a handshake with and handing the tracking on to the next. Yes, the flaps were the best...very exciting. But the war games are really where it's at!
      Go Navy❤🇺🇸 #LadyNavyVetsTheBest🇺🇸

The South China Sea is a name. Its name isn’t indicative of territory. Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan and China all possess territory / maritime zones within the South China Sea.
However, if your underlying non-stated issue is that the West doesn’t understand China and China doesn’t understand the West which when combined results in confrontations, I totally agree with you!!

I was in the US Navy and many that don't know think that normal warships have thick hulls or what they call armored. In today's warfare torpedo and Anti-Ship Missiles can pierce threw armor so most warship hulls are not as strong as most merchant ships. They are built to be closed off to prevent sinking unless it gets blown in to. Check out some vids where old warships are targeted by modern weapons. The only ship that has thick hides are Aircraft Carrier and there Amphibious Types because how they are used but Destroyers, Frigates, Corvettes and smaller have thin skins!

Okinawa is so far away whereas there are always Chinese warships on patrol in the South China Sea....I don't think there is any hostilities between the Chinese and American sailors per se. Our interest is in the freedom of navigation for commercial shipping and international commerce. Pushing back on China when it infringes on this principle is consistent with this goal. Taiwan is also critical in this bc of TSMC and the advanced microchips made there. So you may understand, it's not political at all. It's all about economics and international business.

In my opinion these types of close contact is dangerous all it would take is one false mistake and why show your enemy your capabilities so they can develop counter measures

Crash? Yea ok that wasn’t on purpose right? That ocean is mighty big for two ships to collide. Whoever was at fault, are just wanting to start a war! “SAD” Why can’t we all just get along instead of measuring our d-- size!!!

China has aspirations which is great. Sure the world wants a country like China spreading their ways and sharing their ideas of freedom and a better world. The USA isn’t the best but it is better. Having weapons and all that doesn’t mean shit if you don’t actually know how to use it and trying only get you so far. China hasn’t won a real war I’m not even sure if they have fought a major conflict in the past century. But they aren’t know for their prowess as a fighting force. The USA aside from wanting to look like a humanitarian country is actually the biggest warmongering country to ever exist. No war is free but China is not in the same class as the USA and you wanna know why show me an original idea chains has and an idea so great other countries copy it…. I’ll wait
