Interestingly, the performance Charger lines up pretty closely to the $75K Tesla Model S Long Range, which goes over 400 miles on a charge, but still manages 0-60 in 3.1 sec, and even though the Model S is a matching size, it weighs 1,000lbs less than the Charger. The Charger would be a killer EV if it came out 5-7 years ago. But the EV competition simply got better in the meantime. The EV Charger needs to lose weight and lower its price to be competitive.

An EV Charger is an oxymoron. The Charger customer is not an EV customer, for the most part. I think these cars sit on lots. The Hurricane may have good numbers, but it is a high strung engine that will not last long term like a normally aspirated V8. They may seel OK, but not great. If Trump gets rid of CAFE, then the Charger will have to be rethought. I suspect it will be a major flop.

You're one of those people that don't know they had steam engines for decades at that point I suppose, and towns were so small, there wasn't any reason to not just hop a train from place to place, plus no infrastructure to support vehicles to support day to day life. They were right to prefer it until things were built up. The problem with EV is all that infrastructure is in place, but EV themselves just aren't an upgrade. I would rather own, long-term, a naturally-aspirated V8 than a more-complex, twin-turbocharged V6, regardless of fuel economy. It's the carmakers who are feeling the pressure to grab every last mpg, and let customers deal with the likely eventual problems.
